Let me start off by saying my sister is a manager at a Blaze Pizza in the LA area so it goes without saying my initial 5 star review of this local Blaze Pizza was kinda biased. But honestly, the pizza is really good here, so I can't knock that either way.
HOWEVER, if anyone is to give an honest review, they have to include rating not only the food at the establishment, but the customer service experience as well. Firstly I want to state that I have been supporting this particular Blaze location at Otay Ranch Mall since day 1 when they opened. I went to the grand opening and frequent the establishment at least 2-3 times a month since. No joke, my kids and I love their pizza. But unfortunately, because of my experience on Pi day 3/14 I have to give them a 1 star review. It was by far THE WORST customer service experience I've ever had at a food establishment. And I've given reviews of a lot of places in the San Diego area. So I went to this Blaze location this recent Pi day 3/14 in the early afternoon and saw that there was a long line out the door, which was expected because the pizzas were $3.14. I decided to come back later that evening and showed up at 7p. Line was still long at that time, but I wanted to take advantage of the deal. While I was waiting for just about an hour, I received a call to attend to a family emergency and by the time I came back it was around 815p. Again the line was long, but my kids wanted pizza so I stood in line. About 10 minutes to 9p, some Blaze workers came out and told us if we were still in line and didn't make it inside, they would have to refuse us service and not honor the $3.14 pizza deal. I was practically in line for almost 2 hours and so I asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to Isaiah, who was really nice, and explained my situation to him. I explained I was a loyal customer and that I was in line for a total of almost 2 hours, had to temporarily leave for a family emergency and come back, but he unfortunately wouldn't honor the deal for me. But the thing that really ticked me off was the fact that one of the workers was blantanly disrespectful and said "well if you were a loyal customer, you would know to come to the store before 9pm when they close." I had no idea why that person said that even though I came hours before they closed! I also asked Isaiah for his manager's number and tried calling him to explain my situation but that manager never returned any of my messages. As a result, I will never go to this Blaze location again and it's unfortunate because my family loves their pizza and I love to support local...
Read moreFirst time here. Hoping it was going to be great, but it was a horrible waste of time and money. Go somewhere else dont go with the trend or follow the hype, it will be a waste of your time and money. They need to clean their pizza oven.
We still ate the pizza, didnt complain but will not be returning. Hopefully they will take my comments and use it to be better and do better.
SERVICE: First we stood in line to place an order and when we realized we wanted order another pizza the lady that we had to get her attention couldnt understand what I was trying to do. Afterwards we sat down and waited for our name to be called, but unfortunately this other lady would use her indoor voice and would only call names out one time. Pizza boxes were stacking up aside from mine which was apparently done but I had to ask if my name was called which apparently was called.
FOOD: We ordered 4 pizzas Double Pepperoni, Meat Eater, Barbecue Chicken and White Top. All four were burnt on the bottom with barely any sauce. We were eating at a booth and you can see smoke inside the pizza oven, which is a sign that it needed to be cleaned. Pieces of burnt bottoms of each pizzas would be left be hind only to be burnt more and stick with the next pizza being made. Crispiness was good but needed more of everything else.
ATMOSPHERE: Seemed like a good lively place.
WISHFUL THINKING: Staff needs to be retrained. Myabe have a computerized sign showing your food is ready so it wont get cold while you are wondering if your food is done. Maybe even just have staff speak up when calling out names and recall names if the pizza hasnt...
Read moreAs a local,
I used to come here a lot when it first opened and always had a wonderful experience. Though returning after two years without visiting makes me miss the days when it was GREAT. I think the food is amazing and is best to grab and go but I do not recommend staying at all. From the last time that I went to this location, it was because of an experience from an employee who was extremely rude in her attitude and gave nasty looks to my girlfriend and I. The first experience where we felt rushed with our pizza, every response and tone in our exchanges were aggressive and hostile, and it made us decide to leave instead of dining in. Coming from home from that shortly after was very unpleasant and was a reason why we have not returned since then. Until today, I figured. Why not? I should check out a place I used to love eating at. Nope. Same employee. I observed her entire demeanor (when she saw us enter, her facial expression changed to almost like annoyed) change the minute we entered the restaurant and an unwelcoming energy emitting from her unlike her peers who were the opposite; extremely friendly and welcoming. While the others helped my family, this employee served me and did not give me the same customer service as the others but it was instead a negative experience altogether. On top of that, she gave us the wrong pizza and still did not give us the respect of acknowledging us; no eye contact or looking our direction. Super strange from a place where you would expect basic customer service. I’ll give it...
