I bought 10 cupcakes (8 for my daughter’s bday party, 2 for myself lol). I received two boxes, each with four cupcakes inside and two individual cupcake holders for my cupcakes, so those partying 10-year-olds wouldn’t get confused about which ones to eat. It was completely my fault…but one of the boxes slipped while I was taking it out of the bag and the box fell. Four cupcakes DESTROYED!! I mean they’d flipped on top of one another, icing had come off, cupcakes busted open…it was a mess. The other four that I didn’t drop were a bit messed up but not too unpresentable. I called the shop, they said bring the four completely destroyed cupcakes back and they’d replace them, free of charge. When I got there the lady seemed very confused why I was bringing these “blown to smitherines” cupcakes back inside. She asked who told me they’d replace for free…I didn’t get a name, but described the voice. She said when she’s busy and can’t get to the phone, the line transfers to a different shop, so I spoke to someone from a different location and her location actually doesn’t do free replacements. She was nice enough to do it for me this one time because the cupcakes were really really bad and I’d only made the purchase a few hours earlier. The reason for the four stars, however, is because of the boxes. The other four cupcakes I purchased earlier had not been dropped, bumped, or even tilted and yet the cupcakes were still messed up. When I got home with the four, newly replaced cupcakes, I was very surprised to see that they were messed up again (not nearly as bad) when I took them out of the bag. They’d fallen over into one another even though i was extremely careful this time. It turns out that the box for four cupcakes has four precut holes where the cupcakes SHOULD fit and prevent movement. Unfortunately, the card board is cheap, the holes aren’t reinforced, so they don’t actually keep the cupcakes in place. So they slide around in the box, into one another. The two cupcakes that were in individual cupcake boxes were still perfect. The lid sits high enough that the icing was still pretty and not smashed and the sides are wide enough. Until they get better boxes, I recommend getting your cupcakes in individual boxes or bringing your own cupcake holders. For the store, I recommend better boxes and maybe paper bags, so the boxes don’t slide around inside so easily. Also, let your customers know ahead of time the replacement policy as well as making sure they speak to the correct location because even though you dial a specific location doesn’t mean you’re going to speak with that location. The cupcakes though were DELICIOUS!!!! Im sure the smashed ones would’ve tasted just as good, but it wasn’t a good look for...
Read moreOverall, while everything looks delicious, and the cupcake I had is very tasty, I am unable to give above a 4/5 ONLY because I have yet to try anything other than the Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake. I will definitely returning to try other flavors!
Continue for more details!
I went in for the first time and asked for a recommendation. I'm always hesitant about cupcakes and cakes from businesses, because I find most of the time, the cakes and icings have very little flavor outside of "sweet" and "sugar".
I was told that straight up that the cream cheese icing they make uses a lot less sugar than the butter cream they make. (To be expected!) But more importantly, the worker who assisted me actually seemed to take my desires into consideration to be able to recommend the best cupcake she could to me.
I was recommended the Strawberry cupcake with cream cheese icing. The cake itself has a very lovely light but distinct strawberry flavor, and the cream cheese icing actually tastes like cream cheese! The flavors even stand up to being placed in a bowl along side fresh strawberries!
I am very happy and will most definitely be returning to try their...
Read moreThis gal has an inner fat kid that will never say no to a cupcake! No surprise that while in Cincinnati for work my sweet tooth kicked in. Thanks to Yelp I discovered this cute little cupcakery very close to my hotel (dangerous!). After picking up dinner I made my way to this place. It is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. There was not anyone else in the store when I went. The lady working (who I might guess was the owner) was nice but not overly friendly which was fine. I ended up getting the peanut butter cup and sugar baby.
The cupcakes (yes I ate them both...do not judge me!) were pretty good and not dry at all. There was a good amount of icing but not overload. The flavor was pretty good and basic which was fine but I've had better.
Overall I'd definitely go back to this cupcakery. They do close what I consider to be early (6pm) so if you get an after dinner sweet treats craving there won't be any stopping at this place. Plan ahead for that sweet...
