I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time now, I mean they make fresh juices. My girlfriends were in town to visit from Cleveland so I took them here at 8 o'clock pm on Saturday night. When we walked in we were confused on if we were going to be seated or if we needed to find a seat. There was no host or hostess to tell you what to do. Finally, after seeing a cashier in the back of the restaurant we walked back to place our order. The cashier was very kind and helpful. She gave us recommendations on her favorite things on the menu and helped us decide since we never ate there before. After ordering she handed us a number and told us we could find a seat anywhere in the cafe before pointing us to the glasses for water. I love when places have different water on tap like distilled and sparkling like they had. I also liked how they had Vitamin water XXX on tap and different tea flavors available. I thought that was pretty cool. We waited for our food for about 15 minutes until they brought it to our table. My friend Patricia ordered the Spaghetti Pomodora, she liked it but they did not give her enough sauce, she had to ask for more. My other friend ordered the veggie burger (amazing), as did I, she got fries which were very cold. She didn't say anything nor did anyone come by to ask how everything was. To me that is odd especially since they had so much staff walking around. I loved the look and feel of the establishment and...
Read moreThis is my favorite brunch place. Upon entering, you take a clipboard and peruse the menu while you wait in line to place your order. If the line goes to the outside door, don't fret: things move along smoothly and it usually takes about 15 minutes. When you approach the counter, try not to salivate at the bakery items. One thing gets me every time: it's a cookie with chocolate and cornflakes in it and it is soooo good. Split it with a friend and you'll both be happy. :) Then you'll approach the register and place your order; you'll be given a number (on a stand), glass for your drink (serve yourself at the drink station) and you can seat yourself at an available table or booth (near the windows is nice because you can people-watch). The menu item I've yet to stray from is the Chicken Tinga. Tostada, chicken, over-easy eggs (I get mine scrambled) and tomatillo. It. Is. Delicious. Flavorful, with the right amount of tang from the tomatillo. My bestie and I usually share a side of lemon ricotta pancakes, too, so we can enjoy something sweet to offset the savory. The pancakes are served with some fruit on top and, in my opinion, are so good they don't need syrup! And lemony flavor makes you feel like you're eating a light lemon cupcake. Try Maplewood for brunch; it's...
Read moreThis place is great overall! When we first walked in we realized that it's the type of place where you order at the counter when you walk in. I didn't like that at first because it makes me feel rushed and I usually decide to add things to my meal after the initial order when I eat at places because I'm indecisive. However, I think overall it's a good idea because it's nice to pay in advance that way you can leave whenever you're finished and not wait for a check. Also, I always over eat when I add more so this makes me stick to a normal portion. Also, it's not just a willy nilly order counter: the people taking orders, there being several of them, will stand and answer menu questions you might have; there are baked goods there to choose from; and you do not carry your own food or drinks to your table, you wait at a marble counter and someone escorts you to your table and carries your drinks for you which I thought was classy and professional. I got an omelet and he got the spicy chicken sandwich. Both were delicious, well prepared and displayed, and the perfect portions for the price. They have a nice beer selection. Very busy place...
