Dissapointed. This is clearly an after thought for AC Marriott. Which is a shame, because it offers a great view of the river. This is a hotel that is trying to utilize the roof as a restaurant. However the roof staff seems like something you would find at a fast food restaurant. Which is sad, because the front desk staff is exceptional. The management misinformed the front desk and I was told it opened at 2 pm (I questioned this because online said 4, but was reassured it was 2). I arranged my lunch around this and passed on other options and then found out it was 4. Then the bartender in the elevator told me it was 5. (Btw he was heading up to start his shift...how did he not know???)
I found out he was wrong and it was 4. I walk on the roof to zero reception and the young fast food worker (bartender) that told me 5. I expressed my frustration and he said it wasn't a big deal, it was a simple misunderstanding. Which interrupted my day...kid thinks the prices they charge isn't a big deal and his whatever man doesn't match the prices). I asked him how the rooftop worked and he offered a fast food quality explanation. It was clear to me they only cared about the 4 igloo reservations. Here is the good news...I did a google search for Rooftop restaurants and Shires came to the rescue. A restaurant and bar that isnt an afterthought and it shows.
Supper kind and a 5 minute walk from the AC. Trust me, go here and not the AC. I also think Lytles Rooftop in town would be nice as well. I recommend the hotel but say stay clear of the rooftop because its an afterthought and so are you. Shires is classy, the staff is classy. AC you really are missing an opportunity here.....invest a tad more and you will have a real gem. As is, you have a wasted space on the roof. That said the hotel staff matches what you would hope for of the AC brand. In fact the front desk manager offered me a free drink..I declined because 12 bucks wouldnt replace the experience I hoped for from the rooftop. Hoped for and planned for with the confidence that comes with the AC Brand and location. Id rather the staff be more informed and it actually be a restaurant. I dont have much expendable income and this trip is important and its very disappointing to have such a let down from the rooftop. But TRUST ME...they only are about the 4 igloos and not walkin customers. Head to Shires. **management here is a great tip...allow Marigold to manage the rooftop, give her a munch deserved raise and you will get your money back 10 fold. She gets it. Dont believe me, try it for 1 year and...
Read moreIt was our first time at the AC Upper Deck this past weekend. We had a group of about 8-10 of us and were so excited to check this place out! However, the only positive about this place were the views of the city. The rest of our experience was very displeasing and we left very frustrated with the poor service we received. Saturday night was very chilly and the AC upper deck has only a limited number heaters/fires for guests. We saw one sitting in the corner and asked to use it. We were told it was broken. When one of the parties left, we saw a group take over their heater. To our surprise, the staff went up to this group and took away the heater they were using. They obviously complained, and staff rolled over âthe brokenâ heater. We then complained and received no explanation about how the âbrokenâ heater was now magically working! Eventually, we ended up snagging one after another group left (and managed to keep it) but the worst part of the night was when we had spent more than 3+ hours, had a tab over $300, and was watching UCLA vs Gonzaga (final 4) with less than 30 seconds on the clock in OT, and an employee who we assumed to be a manager came over and turned off our tv with the game on it!! To make it 10x worse, he only turned off OUR TV.... the only one with the game on it.. He left the other one on đ It was 11 pm exactly which is their closing time, but seriously less than 30 seconds? Also, he said nothing before he turned it off in order to be respectful and said nothing after he did it. We groaned and expressed our frustration, but he ignored us and walked into the kitchen. We went downstairs to the bar that was still open and showing the game. Our group was so disappointed with the service we received. The views are nice, but you could go somewhere else in the city where the staff is actually interested in accommodating guests and ensuring they have...
Read moreCame here for my friends birthday, it was Tuesday so it wasnât busy at all. Service was awful we were sat for about 25 minutes without our order being taken. The server was roaming around looking clueless until we had to physically wave her down to finally get her attention. Just for her to hand us menus and tell us sheâll be right back, even tho we knew what we wanted. We then had to wait almost 20 more minutes for her to come back after we had to wave her down AGAIN just for her to tell us the kitchen was closed. If she knew the kitchen was about to close when she gave us menus why wouldnât she inform us and take our order then and there? Seems like she did this on purpose to not have to serve us and get off the clock. Mind you it was only 9:30. Was really excited to try their food but was left disappointed. Ruined the vibe for my friends birthday as we had to resort to condos to get some food since we had just waisted an hour at AC starving without...
