The below novella was the Facebook review that I had posted 3 years ago after visiting Glazed Over for the first time. Since then, I have gone at least a dozen times and have always experienced the same journey.
Thoughts and concerns...
Admittedly, I was excited to try the new local donut place. I thought to myself, "Self, you deserve something grander than Dunkin for once." Retrospectively speaking, I find it curious as to why I have to convince my tiny brain into consuming better tasting food as if this is some sort of personal struggle between the boundaries of flavor and what my own reality and self image are represented by me mentally, but I digress...
11:30am, day of first donut exposure:
I walk in. The smell of fried, 3 dimensional cylinders - no, couldn't be... 3 dimensional Torus(Google it) in the air. I'm intrigued. I spot a blank sheet with mesmerizing columns and rows neatly stacked together on a clipboard atop a table. As I stroll through the very cleanly adorned dining area with ease and plenty of room to spare, I approach it. The last piece of scripture I would ever need in my life. My eyes dart from Drizzle, to Glaze, to Toppings back in forth in a hurried frenzy as I blindly grab for a pen to make the biggest half-dozen decisions of my life. Realizing I pretty much abandoned my friend and co-donut enthusiast at the door, I quickly chucked a 2nd clipboarded selection sheet at her head and demanded different choices on my own, selfish accord to try as many of the limitless possibilities as Glazed Over could offer.
Upon handing over my last Will and Testament to the kind lady at the register, my pulse began to quicken. After foolishly obtaining my coffee to pair with the upcoming delight-fest, it was clear my heart muscle would likely not be able to withstand the impending excitement and rush. I stood against the counter, knees glued to the surprisingly sturdy, but well maintained wooden fixture. Was it constructed from a Maple? A hearty oak, perhaps? I don't remember, as it was all such a blur. I waited. We waited. It came. And for nearly just as inexpensive as DD's confectionery treats, the bill was paid, and at this point my cardiovascular system was working overtime.
I probably should've compensated my heart for the OT; given it time and a half, stock options, or certainly better health benefits but I had not known at the time what I was truly dealing with... After stumbling and nearly tossing the neatly manicured pastry box at the face of a young child stomping around repeatedly in her snow boots, I made it to my seat- Thank God, I needed it. Because after that first bite, I was in the Heaven they don't tell you about: Donut Heaven.
If you're reading this while eating a confectionery treat, throw it away. You won't need any others past today. Glazed Over will be your new Mecca. If you're reading this with poor health coverage, upgrade. Don't think these donuts are unlawfully unhealthy, no. They're not a Rabbit's dinner, but hey, no donut is. The reason why your healthcare provider should be contacted is the same reason I'm writing this from the grave right now- My heart exploded from the thrill. The thrill of the flavor, the thrill of the warmth, the thrill of biting into exactly what YOU want and chose and still only paid half the price for what these SHOULD be sold at. If you're reading this and you haven't tried Glazed Over yet, I will assume the rock you live under has got you pinned down pretty well, but for some reason has exceptionally decent WiFi.
Now go. Go to Glazed Over Donuts in Beacon and enjoy the rest of your life knowing that you will not have to search for a better tasting donut for as long as you live. Unfortunately that won't be more than 5 minutes past taking your first bite if you're anything like me. [Exhibit A above]
Overall rating: A perfect 11/10. That's 110% people. The bathroom is top tier too.
Cons: Will make you question your sanity and certain inability to effectively choose your favorite donut place prior to visiting this wonderful sugar filled...

Read moreIn 2022, it's really not hard to find photogenic food - there are businesses now with the sole purpose of creating edible social media content. You know what's not as common though? Places where the service and price point are just as noteworthy as the visually appealing menu items, and that's happily the case here.
My Millennial Chum and I stopped by on Sunday at the end of a splendid Beacon adventure. I had a good feeling when we walked up and saw a bearded gentleman at a table outside wearing a fedora - if the hipsters have given their blessing, that ups my comfort level considerably.
We were greeted by a manager almost immediately upon entry, who gave us a quick primer on the ordering process. It was pretty easy (you select options from three categories - donut flavor, glaze flavor and a topping, give them your name and wait for scrumptiousness to arrive) and both of us agreed that putting your specific order in writing for the employees dramatically increases the chances that it's going to be prepared correctly. The donuts are made to order on the spot based on your preferences, and my donut literally came out about a minute later. It probably takes 30 seconds longer than some guy at Dunkin Donuts grabbing a stale donut from the rack, and I'm certainly willing to tough out that extra half minute.
I ordered a strawberry donut with strawberry glaze and Fruity Pebbles topping. Just heavenly - tasted amazing, and it was ridiculously fresh. There's a lot to criticize in the world in 2022, but society's warm embrace of Fruity Pebbles in basically any eating situation is a real selling point. Even more mindboggling to me is that the price of the donut was about $2.50 - if we were closer to NYC they could get away with charging twice that if not more.
Absolutely worth a stop if you're in the area. When are the hipsters ever...
