Weâve tried K&C for their delicious gluten free baked goods and some drinks like their masala chai. This time, we really wanted to have the dining experience and not just get a quick bite or something to go.
We came here on a super cold Sunday morning, so immediately we knew we were in the mood for something warm/cheesy. Immediately their lentil soup caught our eye paired with a delicious grilled cheese and the k+c avocado toast.
We ordered great the only thing is I COMPLETELY forgot everything here is gluten free (even the bread, yes!). A place like this can be appreciated by everyone, whether you have certain dietary intolerances or you simply make certain dietary choices. Their baked goods are incredibly impressive and absolutely amazing. The fact that the full menu is GF and vegetarian absolutely blows my mind.
That said, given that it was our actual first real dining experience, it wouldâve been nice to have been asked or simply reminded (texture wise) about the bread. Other than that, everything was delicious! If you have a gluten intolerance/allergy/restriction/etc you will absolutely LOVE this place. If you donât have one, then just be mindful you might not necessarily need to order a bread based dish perhaps stick with anything else like the rice bowl or all the delicious things on their menu. YES get a baked good, you will love it.
I do love that this is a place where you can casually hang out, do some work on your laptop, catchup with friends, etc. The only thing I will say on busier days it would be nice to not have customers sitting for long periods trying to do work/sit with the laptop since itâs already hard enough getting seats inside (especially during the winter). But thatâs just my two little cents :)
Overall, absolutely recommend, especially if youâre gluten free! You can finally have a safe space to eat and enjoy...
Read moreI happened upon this bakery during a quick trip to Beacon and had no idea it was an entirely gluten free (plus dairy free/vegan) in many other respects. I am not gluten free, but my sister has a severe gluten allergy (not celiac) so I have been very involved in recreating recipes for her and tasting and trying many things over many years.
I ordered a mushroom & ricotta tart, and couldnât resist the chocolate cupcake with strawberrry/raspberry frosting. As I ate the tart, I could not believe it was gluten free. I was dumbfounded. The pastry was flaky with so many layers and DELICIOUS. How COULD this be gluten-free?!
I personally am not a fan of most cupcakes - they tend to be dry, overly sweet with godawful American buttercream, and heavy. Not only was this the best gluten free cupcake Iâve ever had, it was THE BEST CUPCAKE IâVE EATEN IN MY LIFE! And Iâve eaten a lot of cupcakes in my life. Truly. I live an hour away from Beacon, but I would make the trip just to eat at this bakery and take a hell of a lot home for later to put in my freezer. So delicious I canât stop taking or thinking about this place!
My friend who is opening a business in Kingston NY (Kingston Social!) needed a source for gluten free options for her cafe and I immediately recommended this place! Best gluten free options Iâve ever had. Iâm in love - just wish...
Read moreI love that this place is a deliciously and exclusively gluten-free and vegetarian menu! I've eaten here multiple times over the last several years and have never disliked anything I've tried, and in fact, while I often go back for the same delightful treats, I also enjoy trying their new items. The pumpkin bread, cranberry orange bread, and blueberry muffins are all fantastic. The new addition of jammy eggs (fabulous tahini sauce), the avocado toast (love the layer of hummus!), and the pumpkin smoothie bowl (also had multiple times!) that includes an incredible smooth spiced pumpkin layer over a chia pudding and topped with fruit and granola, all show wonderful curating and developing of flavors. I also just adore the pear green tea. It's very smooth and perfectly balanced. Even though it's often busy, the service is still consistently fast-paced, and everyone's friendly. Just be prepared to take out because there likely won't be any open seats. Definitely one of my top favorite...
