We just made it here about 15-20mins before their closing time, after a 30 mile bike ride. We asked if the kitchen was still open and if they were willing to serve us since it was just before closing.
Not only were the bartender and kitchen staff gracious enough to serve us, the food and beer flights were OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious!! Definitely the best Mexican food I’ve had in all of NY and NYC!
Their beer selection was incredible and the bartender was super helpful and knowledgeable about all the different flavor profiles! Definitely something for every palate. The beers were insanely good, we ended up going home with three 32oz. Crowlers of my four tasting flight, but only because the fourth one wasn’t available as a 32oz. option, but we would have grabbed all four if possible. (Our bill was a touch higher than a normal night, since we got 3 crowlers to-go)
As far as tasting notes for my beers - King’s Court Summer Nights: Watermelon jolly rancher vibes here, refreshing, delicate, balanced.
Hudson Valley Silhouette: Peach: (First off, love their logo) Bright, peach vibes, a little tangy and sour but not overwhelming sour notes or hoppy notes, really great balanced IPA! (I normally hate IPAs and I loved this one!)
Oxbow Blue Noir: DAAAAAAMMMNNNMN this one is drool worthy and complex AF!! I could literally drink this everyday! A fruity and smooth flavor bomb of deliciousness. There’s spice, there’s warmth, there’s fruit, there’s sweetness. Probably my favorite of the flight. Wish they had a crowler of this one.
Mast Landing Gunner’s Daughter: Ok, get ready to have a liquid dessert right now, because this milk stout is what chocolate dreams are made of. The nose is just like a chocolate dessert, and the flavor and mouth feel is creamy and chocolatey like your favorite dark chocolate dessert. Not too sweet, well balanced, not too heavy either. Great as an after dinner apertivo!
Weldworks Juicy Bits (husband’s picks) Really delicious flavor that was fruity and had the mouthfeel and aftertaste almost like a Hefeweizen. Very well balanced and delicious.
The other three were also very very good, but just less complex and interesting than the ones mentioned above. The other three he got were all kind of similar in flavor profile, easy to drink, light, traditional great beers.
I got Guajillo pork shoulder enchiladas, everything was amazing!! We ate every bite! Hands down the best enchiladas I’ve ever had!!
Taquitos as our appetizer was outstanding!! Also polished that off!
My husband had the QuesaBirria which were also incredible, but definitely a bit more filling. Since we filled up on the appetizer he took the two remaining tacos for lunch the following day.
We found our new favorite Mexican restaurant and Draft house! We will be...
Read moreWe went to Beacon as tourists, had walked past this place multiple times while walking up and down Main Street, exploring the city. The restaurant looked pretty good with a lot of crowd, so we decided we would definitely try a beer from here. However we were a little disappointed by our experience. When we first got there, the server told us we can sit inside at the long table, as there was no table available outside. A little while later he again came to us and told us to sit at the end of the table as we were only 2 people and they needed more space for a larger group that came a little while after us, so that we can maintain distance, which is understandable (no complaints there). The server then came with a bunch of menus and gave them to the group that came after us, while completely ignoring us. The other group got their drinks and all and we were still without a menu, at which point I felt like, are we invisible to them? A little while after that, the same server, while passing us to go outside, asked us if someone took our order. I told him that no one has even given us a menu yet. He went and got us a menu. Then again the wait game started. No one came to take our orders and finally I walked up to the bar to order our beers. The lady server at the bar seemed nice and brought our beers to us, but the beer was completely flat. We ordered a plate of chicken quasedillas, which was very good, happy with that, but we went in there because we thought they have good draft beers. We didn't order another beer after that because of the whole experience with the first one. I just wanna say that I understand that it is a difficult time for the food and restaurant industry and that they might be short staffed, and I am not the kind of person who looks for a reason to post bad reviews online. But the fact that we were waiting for a server to even provide us with a menu while the group right next to us, who came after us had already gotten their drinks, that counts as a very bad experience to me. One suggestion I would like to give is that the restaurant should have QR codes printed and pasted at various places on the table so that such thing...

To be fair, the food here is good, the beer selection is great, and the prices aren't bad. I've been going here for a few yrs with my friends and up until now, no complaints.
However, the past few times my friend and I have tried grabbing a drink around 12 or 1am on Friday/Saturday night and the owner has turned us away or been outright unfriendly in some cases. I think his name is John. Given he's been friendly in the past and even acknowledged us as frequent patrons who never cause trouble and aren't roudy, this treatment the past few times we've stopped by when he's working only rubs me the wrong way.
If we came by after last call? No problem.
If it's been a slow night and business has been bad so you're closing early? No problem.
The problem is when you're sitting outside your own bar in a chair reading a book on a Saturday night, and we approach asking in a polite and non-pushy way if you're still open for just one round, and you respond coldly with just a "no", not even looking at us, and then ignore us when we reply with "no problem, thanks and have a good night", I don't really feel any motivation to come back again. John, all you had to say is "Sorry, we're done for the night but thanks for stopping by and hopefully see you next time" and actually look at us while talking to us. That'd make me want to come back.
It also didn't help that we passed on the street 15 minutes later and he was back behind the bar serving two customers after telling us we couldn't have a round. We were sober, not acting disruptive or stupid, and there was no good reason to turn us away in that manner, especially given our past patronage. Very...
