I worked as a server for 5 years, so it’s quite rare that I leave a negative review. My only goal in leaving this is that there is a review of allergy policy and training. We’ve been here several times and have had good food and service so I believe this was a one off occurrence.

We had a member of our party that had a severe nut allergy and a second member with serious lactose intolerance. We communicated this to the waiter and ordered dishes specifying no nuts on the table and any dairy on the side. The first appetizer came with dairy plainly on top, but our lactose intolerant member was able to pick around it and didn’t want to spoil the meal by sending it back. The second appetizer came coated in cheese and we this time mentioned to the mistake to the waiter. She said “I told the kitchen, but they’re busy” so we again had our lactose intolerant member pick around the dairy as best as they could. Then when our entrees came, the lactose intolerant person had salmon that was sat in a dish of sauce - when we clarified with the waiter that there was no dairy on the salmon she said “I don’t think so, the sauce is Tzatziki” (tzatziki is yogurt). The dish wasn’t taken away, no apology was offered, nothing was adjusted on the bill.

When our friend with a nut allergy received her food, she asked the waiter to confirm that there were no nuts in her food and the response was “I don’t think so, there shouldn’t be.” Which, sitting next to a diary intolerant persons plate full of yogurt, did not inspire confidence.

This is a place we’ve been several times and enjoyed, so I believe this was a one off occurrence on a busy night… but again, as a former server, I can’t imagine missing the no dairy request three times on one table. And then after realizing the mistake how there was no effort to mend the error or adjust the bill. And if there is an allergy on the table it can’t be a “I don’t THINK there are nuts in your food” at any price point but especially not when charging $30-40 an entree.

And as a secondary note, there are no vegetarian or vegan entrees. So if you are someone who doesn’t eat meat I...

I am really writing this review with hopes Wonderbar can return to it's former glory. This used to be our favorite restaurant in Beacon, food and drinks were high quality and well executed every time. We would rave about this place to others. Purchased gift cards for family members to also enjoy. Sadly we went their last night and everything seemed different and not in a good way. While I wouldn't say the food was necessarily terrible, it definitely was not to the standard it was before. We got the tuna tartare and it seemed like they opened a bag of tostitos chips, threw them in a bowl and put some tuna on top. The sliders also seemed like something picked up at key foods with store bought potato buns and dry burgers. The quality and creativity completely dropped. I asked the waitress if they changed chef's and she let us know that they have. I do hope they can figure out the new menu and staff, I understand that restuarants go through transitions. Unfortunately, I can't say I would go back there...

This place used to be my favorite… unfortunately the recent change in head chef and lead bartender leaves a bland menu and lackluster drinks. Living around the corner since it opened, this place was a weekly or monthly destination, but on our most recent, and final, trip there, the food was lackluster and the specialty drinks off balance. And it’s perfectly fine to not like everything on a menu or if a drink isn’t my favorite, but when asked if the tuna nachos were coming back, the waitress’s response was ‘the chef doesn’t want I repeat anything the former chef did’. Personally, I don’t care about the chefs ego if the previous menu was better then the bland food that we ordered. And after ordering Pop Quiz, when tasted like pop rocks, which Didn’t seem fitting, I ordered a Sidecar, a simple classic, which tasted like sour lemon juice… if that’s even possible. Could not taste the brandy and if was bright yellow. Very sad that this beautiful bar that was once my favorite is no...

My BF & I came here for drinks & dinner. No tables were available so we were given the option to sit at the bar until a table was available. We had the most decadent drinks while we waited at the bar for abt 20 minutes nursing our drinks before we were escorted to our table. Once seated, we observed at least 2 - 3 additional parties of people come in & be served right away as we waited for about another 20 mins with no service. The waiters all had to pass our table as it was right near the entrance of the door & not one of the 4 waitresses came to our table. The waitress that initially sat us casually & very nonchalantly came to our table to take our order after almost 30 mins. Basically we waited almost an hour waiting to be served! We paid for the drinks and left. The drinks were wonderful but the service is a no for me…please do better.

Cute place with a great vibe. They do have a main door that is street facing but due to the extreme cold, they utilized the entrance through the theater. The restrooms are right outside in the theater lobby. Really friendly staff. The portion sizing is perfect and the prices match so you're not overspending for an amount of food that you won't finish and won't be good the next day. The chimmi was a bit spicy on the steak so unlike me, I had to scrape some of it off. As far as options, they don't have any 'regular options' so if you're looking for some wings or a burger, this isn't the place. Not sure what to call the menu because I found that there was a mixture, of different dishes from Spanish mofongo with steak to Chinese dumplings to Middle Eastern Shawarma.

Nashville dumplings were to die for with Nashville hot seasoning in all the right places Burger had a nice soft sesame seed bun and came with kettle chips The cocktails were the real star of the show here, Prosecco strawberry was my wife’s choice, I went with the tiki bitters drink and it was like a creamy pineapple ode to summers farewell Overall this place has great food and the cocktails are amazing, they are charging New York City prices ($17 a cocktail??), ($24 for a burger) which is pretty wild They were very busy on a Friday when we came and everything was very slow, but the server was communicative which we appreciated.
