Overall first impression of Wild Kitchen & Bar was... somewhat confusing.
The two Bowls we ordered, Low & Slow and Upstream, were actually some of the best bowls I've had in the Hudson Valley. Both proteins were tender, flavorful, and well balanced by the other ingredients in the dish, with hints of spice in exactly the right capacity. Taste and flavor preference is unique to each person, but it's hard to argue that the bowls don't have quality ingredients included. As far as value goes, I'd be more than happy ordering either of these or another from the menu in the future. This is probably where the over-the-top praise comes to a close.
We also ordered the Joybiscus drink. We were very excited by the non-alcoholic beverage options because they're not something commonly featured on menus. Unfortunately, as well described as they are, it seems like very little thought were put into them. The Joybiscus was one dimensional and seemed haphazardly put together. Refreshing on a hot day, sure, but ultimately boring. What I don't understand is why there are no alcoholic versions of these drinks offered on the menu. Seems like it'd be an easy win. What's more bizarre is that Cocktails are advertised out front, but there are no Cocktails listed on the menu- you have to essentially build your own which makes it no different from any other bar.
It was pretty clear as soon as we stepped inside that there was quite a bit of confusion. There isn't a clear enough indication of how this quick service eatery actually works. Twice while in line waiting to order we had a party walk directly to the register, completely ignoring everyone else patiently waiting. I can't chalk this up to rude guests because there are only 2 menus up on the walls and you need to stand awkwardly outside of the stanchioned-off line to see both at the same time. That layout kept inviting guests directly towards the register rather than the end of the line. Additionally, we overheard at least 2 couples at the bar ask the bartender if it were possible to order food from the bar. I could understand their confusion because there was no menu at all, drinks or food, immediately available to us when we took seats at the bar.
Now I'll admit the interior and exterior look great. It's clear that money was put into this place. During lunch time, however, it does get busy. We counted 7 people on laptops just doing work at the limited number of tables offered inside. Now again, I don't have a problem with folks using a casual quick service location to do work- I would too, but this isn't exactly a coffee shop where people are in and out and don't stay to hang out. I think it may be worthwhile to consider restricting laptop usage to outside the lunch rush hours of 11am - 1pm.
There also seemed to be confusion amongst the staff themselves with how to use equipment, the flow of helping guests, and responsibilities. I think this might be getting to them, as I noticed a few members of the team, while friendly, seemed a bit dejected or disconnected. I want to be clear, our food came out very fast. As a quick service restaurant, it hit the mark in terms of expedience, but the staff upfront might need a bit more workflow training. On top of that, there was also confusion from guests about what to do with their used bowls and silverware because there are no self-service bussing stations. Usually in a quick service eatery, at least some sort of trash can is provided.
So this is probably the strangest review I've ever written. The bowls really are very good, but it was definitely a confusing atmosphere. And I have absolutely zero idea how they'll manage a dinner service if it operates similarly to this lunch service. I have high hopes for Wild K&B, because the bowls are outstanding, but there is definitely work to be done with the rest...
Read moreOkay… arguably the best food in Beacon for dinner, but honestly? I’m not sure it’s even up for debate. If you’re someone who cares about healthy-ish options without sacrificing flavor (like, at all), this place nails it. The cocktails and mocktails? So thoughtfully done — you can taste the care in every sip. And whoever is curating their wine list deserves a raise. I liked every single one I tried (which, yes, was several). We sat outside and the energy was just right. The space is gorgeous, the music is perfect, and the whole vibe just feels easy and intentional. You can tell the staff actually love being there — they’re warm, kind, and genuinely seem to care about your experience. We tried a bunch of things and there wasn’t a single miss. The squash appetizer with pistou was insane, as were the green beans and cabbage — everything was layered and interesting. Even the Caesar salad was a standout. For mains, the chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the summer noodle dish was next-level. Also — it’s a farm-to-table spot and you can absolutely taste the difference. Everything feels alive and seasonal in the best way. Please don’t skip dessert. The spicy chocolate crème brûlée and the lemon cake were both out of this world. I could eat either of them every day and not get tired of it. We’ll definitely be back — this spot is going in the...
Read moreFirst time at The Wild and the space is really pretty, lots of light, airy. Our bartender, Lianna was lovely - she made the most delicious cocktail with a fresh basil garnish. The food was fresh and flavorful - Caesar Salad & Mussels. The Lemon Cake was awesome, and Raspberry Mouse was so good, but the glass it was served in made it very hard to share/eat - my friend and I couldn’t get all the components in one bite, or even two - I’d suggest a martini glass or glass bowl for that dessert. Another note, that put me off from leaving a 5 star review was the manager was very micro manage-y to the staff… Very unprofessional in front of customers, it was very uncomfortable to watch. I’m in the industry as well, and there’s just truly no need for that. I’ll be back for the food, and the great service and drinks from...
