Honestly so underwhelmed at this restaurant. One week prior, we came and they had tables reserved for an entire hour, so we thought it was going to be so good. The meal definitely fell flat.
The Thukpa (non veg) was honestly one of the worst soups Iâve had. Iâm an adventurous eater, going to various restaurants in Jackson Heights, Queens and this soup was just so bland and boring. Terrible broth that was watery, slightly milky and creamy, and bitter at the same time. Thatâs gross. It could have been goats or sheepâs milk, I donât know but it was just not good. The employee described it as a âlight milk.â The chicken was bone dry, as other reviews have noted. Noodles were just plain wheat noodles. It looks like it appears to have so much flavor but was just straight up bad. $18.
The Everest Platter was good. The curried potatoes and spring beans was probably the best little bowl on the platter, second to the curried chicken. The dhal was fine and the sautéed garlic greens were just spinach with almost burnt garlic. $23.
They were out of Momos and I overhead that they would be out of momos the following day as well. How does that work? Go somewhere else on the Main St strip if...
Read moreI went to this place once before and really enjoyed the food hence I decided to have my birthday dinner here. I called the restaurant at around 3 pm asking for a table for 6 people at 7 pm. The person I spoke to switched it up on me saying I was making a reservation for 6 pm for 7 people. I corrected him twice and we confirmed the time before I hung up. He then proceeded to call me at 6:12 pm yelling at me saying I had lost my reservation because I was late. I informed him multiple times politely that I had in fact made a reservation for 7 pm. He continued to speak over me and ask me when I was coming. I told him I was coming at 7 pm as scheduled. Unfortunately, I had a tire issue so I was 15 minutes late, however, half of my party was already seated. I was informed by them that he had yelled at them as well regarding the reservation. When I reached the restaurant at 7:16 pm, he proceeded to ask who had made the reservation. When I told him it was meâŠyou guessed it, he decided to confront me again claiming I was wrong and he was right. He only stopped when my sister said it was my birthday. The food was good, but it wasnât worth the treatment. He really put a damper...
Read moreFood: âââ The food is good and I want to say it is good, however, I have to say there are aspects to their food that aren't good. For example: the potatoes in the dal bhat Everest platter were raw and crunchy. To a point that a few were inedible. Mind you, it was tasty, but raw. The mango lassi was delicious, however, had a lot of thickened yogurt (curd) which wasn't churned enough. Himalayan chicken bowl was tasty, however, extremely creamy. Last but not the least, although the name of the restaurant reads momo valley, they didn't have Momos at all on a Sunday night!!!!!!!!
Service:âââââ All 5 stars for service. The receptionist welcomed us and made us wait 5-10 mins until a 5 top table opened up. Upon our 6th guest arrival he accommodated us with a 6 top table even at the rush hour. The laterine cleaners were kind enough to let us use the restrooms before we left. Their service was excellent.
Atmosphere: ââââ The restaurant is pretty small probably 30-40 members could dine. A very tiny waiting area that is probably in the way of the kitchen and the restroom. They need to work on the waiting area for the guests. The music was soothing, however, could barely...
