Visiting from out of town, seen all the good reviews thought it would be great. We ordered 4 dishes and 1 appetizer, 3 were ok 1 was just terrible. Starting with the Pretzel, very salty, very small, could be either cheaper or bigger generally ok. Fried Buttermilk Chicken, generally ok but pass on the spicy mustard as it has no place on chicken. The Hippie be Good ok kinda sweet. The Hard Egg probably the best of all, edible and good. Oh my the Salmon Melt, what a disappointment, first incredibly salty like insane salty, extremely salty smoked salmon, dill mascarpone with salt, salty fried onions, on a grilled sourdough with salty butter, so if you like salt overload this is for you, obviously no one there has talsted this one or if they have they love to drink gallons of water. As for the place very happening, trendy crowed, generally good friendly service. Oh and you will get potato chips that are average at best with no option for fries. For the price and since they seem to have fried food, no idea why you can't get fries and not bag chips. Actually almost anything would be better than bag chips even coleslaw.
In reply to the owners comment. I guess constructive criticism is not well received that says a lot on its own. But yes Bob Evans got 5 stars because they earned it. It was Christmas eve and our car had broken down, the service center (who also got 5 stars BTW) gave me a loaner and sent me to breakfast. The eggs and coffee were good, admittedly hard to really mess up but nonetheless good. 5 stars because of the hospitality, as the waitress knew I was heading back to the car repair and made me a coffee to go. So though you may be surprised that Bob Evans got 5 stars they did what is known as Earned It.
Also while at Hand + Foot no one returned to our table to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. While at Bob Evans the waitress returned several times to check and top off my coffee. You seem to imply Bob Evans is less than your place. What you missed is stars are earned for the overall experience this includes from the time you walk in, during, and while you leave. So Bob Evans may be the average food place, but that's ok, I felt welcomed, I was attended to during my whole time there, and my departure was friendly and even included a to go coffee, so no surprise they got 5 stars.
Let's say someone at Hand + Foot returned to our table and just asked "How is everything" that would have got you to 2 stars as it says at least someone cares to know how our meal is. Maybe we could have expressed that this one meal was not enjoyable and maybe they could have offered something else. Imagine just a little effort (so little really) and you would have got the same review with a happy ending and 5 stars. But what I got was a reply about how I gave Bob Evans a 5 star review, I have to say your reply was not...
Read moreHand + Foot in Corning, New York: a culinary sanctuary where late arrivals are treated like fashionable guests and whiskey flows in rivers of amber. Having been a year since my last visit, the palate of my memory insists on crafting this well-deserved 5-star review.
On a busy night, where patrons filled the air with a chorus of clinking glasses and mirthful conversation, we were the tardy actors. Yet, the staff, displaying the agility of seasoned gymnasts, vaulted us into the heart of the action with an extra dash of politeness. It was as if we were VIPs at an exclusive gig, granted front-row access just as the band was hitting their groove.
The bar staff, armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of cocktails and spirits, navigated the ocean of bourbon and whiskey with the ease of seasoned mariners. They charted a course through the intoxicating expanses, accommodating budgets of all sizes, like the Fed catering to a diverse economy.
As for the food, each dish served was a culinary novella, narrating tales of exquisite flavors that danced on our tongues and spun stories in our minds. The plates became pages, each bite a captivating chapter, offering taste-bud-tingling plot twists with every forkful.
Of course, the plot would be incomplete without mentioning the heroes of the tale, the staff. Their knack for hospitality radiated through the space, infusing the atmosphere with warmth and welcoming vibes.
To sum up, Hand + Foot is a place where gastronomy and mixology cross paths with the narrative magic of a bestselling novel. Each visit, a new chapter in an ongoing epic, a delightful tale that leaves you yearning for a sequel. The experience? Nothing short of a five-star...
Read moreEdit review - one star. It was legitimately an embarrassingly terrible experience. With zero feedback.
This place would have been a solid 4 stars if I had rated it when my wife and I first visited back in late fall of 2023. Came in with family recently (4 of us all together) around 4:30 on 1/11/25. There was a two top that walked in just before us and three or four people at the bar. Samba music was blaring obnoxiously loud, we had to practically shout across the table to each other. The entire time the large manager on duty paced back and forth making us feel rather uncomfortable and rushed. Again, there was hardly anyone in the place.
Food was good (hence two stars), although half of my wife's duck confit sandwich had maybe a teaspoon of meat on it at best. When pointing this out to the aforementioned correctional officer the excuse was "it's a new menu item..", yet our other sandwich ordered was fine. Now here's the fun part - as he goes to leave the table HE TAKES A CHIP OFF MY MOTHER'S PLATE. We were so taken aback by this it was hard to know what to say. He proceed to bring back a small ramekin of meat...
Upon leaving - our waitress, who was very aloof the entire time, noticeably grimaced when handed the check and seeing the 20% tip (which IMO was generous given the overall experience). All in all very disappointing seeing as how the food is pretty good from an interesting menu in a quaint setting....
