I'm not one to leave negative reviews as I want to help boost small businesses. That said...
The bar tender (Evan) was very helpful and informative about the food as well as the BBQ sauces. They have a nice selection of beers and liquor. My wife got the loaded backed potato and the chicken tortilla soup and was very pleased. The corn bread was very sweet and amazing, we enjoyed that very much.
Now to what I order! I'm a big smoked wings fan, I'll go out of my way for a good smoked wings, and very picky if I might add. As soon as they hit the table I said to the wife, these are deep fried and not smoked. I took a bite and they had not even a hint of a smoke flavor what so ever. They also had not even a smidgen of a smoke ring, I've had many different kinds of smoked wings and I question if the even had a minute of time on the smoker let alone grill at all. Needless to say I was very upset as I've been looking forward to them. I asked our wonderful bar tender if they were deep fried and he said no they are smoked but just flash fried for a couple minutes, again I really question if they were on a smoker at all. If anyone has any experience in smoking foods, once you deep fry anything whatever flavor that was present is no longer there.
I hate to say, I must admit, I was very hesitant on ordering much else but I decided to go all out. I order a half rack of ribs as well and a half pound of brisket with a side of their Mac and cheese and asparagus. The Mac and cheese was very good! Highly recommend as well as the asparagus, cooked to perfection with a nice pop and very flavorful.
But, the ribs were the driest ribs I can say I've ever had, thank god for their well flavored BBQ sauces that didn't disappoint. The brisket was ok, with very little flavor and kinda dry as well. It almost seemed the ribs and brisket has been sitting in the warmer for a bit to long. We got here at 530pm so...
Overall... Our experience was ok! I hope this was an off night for them as we did come on a Tuesday, that said your food shouldn't lack no matter the day of the week. Granted, we are from out of town so this is our first experience, but with that said I'm not sure if I'll go out of my way to come back.
Hope this helps in constructive criticism and wish the owner and our wonderful bar tender Evan a wonderful...
Read moreWasn't even able to sit down and eat. Now granted this was a little while ago but it's been bothering me ever since. My wife and I were married at the Bavarian inn and we stayed in the hotel for a few days after. We had a pretty large group granted and I know they're hard to deal with because it's hard to accommodate 20 people. But the day after the wedding our group went to eat here because I had heard that there was rather good food here and I love smoked food. Upon entry we were treated very rudely. Finally they came and sat us had a big table and there's nothing wrong with the amount of time it took to seed us because there was a large group. Now here comes the problem The waitress could have been having a bad night or there was something wrong but when she went to take her drink order she literally lost it on us. She proceeded to throw personal insults and be very rude and yell at us. The manager had to come out of the back room and calm her down so I pretty much figured now we have a voice of reason. But nope the manager proceeded to stick up for her and allow her to talk to us that way. He even got sort of aggressive with us. He didn't calm down until I told him we had a police officer in our group. I probably should have put the review much earlier but I've had a second bad experience so now's the time. And if you look at my reviews most of them are rather good I don't like putting bad reviews but when I have something that bothers me I need to warn other people. Very embarrassing to take your whole wedding group to a restaurant and be treated this way. Plus it's supposed to be a memorable experience. What's the point of going out to dinner if you're going to get yelled at they're supposed to be there for us that's what we're paying for. I will try The place one more time and I will remove this review if it changes but as for now I would steer clear. No need for the restaurant manager to reply to this either because it makes no difference. I will never get that part of my life back so try harder from here on out. But on a good note the restaurant next door took our whole group and...
Read moreImagine yourself as me, a bachelor. A bachelor who cannot cook for the bleeding life of him…and then imagine an entire restaurant that I can effectively outcook. DON’T expend the brainpower to imagine it. It’s called Slo’ Bones BBQ. Serving a baked potato so moderate in quality Gordon Ramsey himself would have come from the grave (if he were dead) to ridicule. Brisket - could have made at home and would have saved me the bloating and sick feeling of mouth sweats (you know, the kind before you vomit) for the remainder of the evening. Had to have been boiled - don’t let the smoker pig deceive you, he’s just a conversation piece.
OH WAIT don’t forget the Alcoholic beverages (the ones they serve at the entire open bar that they have which is roughly half of all their seating) which are effectively non alcoholic. I drank a lovely fruit juice cocktail for dinner with the aforementioned baked potato. McDonald’s Apple juice would have given me more of a buzz and would have been fresher than the hours-old tangerine draped generously over my fruit cocktail.
I could hear it crying. It was telling me: “You should have gone to Prost or Poblanos, and spared me the miserable fate of being the least fresh fruit you’ve consumed this week despite the black bananas on your counter you ate for breakfast this morning.”
To which I would have said, “Yes, but dine and dashing is impolite.” I digress.
Actually I don’t. I was seated by an unenthusiastic, unkind, UNHostpitable Hostess who would have much rather not done what she was doing. (But I mean who doesn’t feel like that when they’re working with people amirite?)
The waitress was nice though. She needs a raise. Or to get a job where they don’t serve food I am able to EASILY MAKE AT HOME AS A BACHELOR. she’s the only reason I gave a tip (in This economy of all things), which should say something to the pit master (I can’t put his name in here because it could be considered a cuss word in some circles) and the owners of this establishment. That thing is, Do Better. Won’t eat here again, not that y’all...
