Two Stars for Effort, but Yikes for the Experience
Stopped into La Crepe du Jour on a busy afternoon, hoping for a sweet little taste of Paris. What I got instead was a bizarre time warp to early pandemic energy, topped with a side of confusion.
Let’s start with the staff: five people on duty, but only three seemed to be doing anything, while the other two sat—yes, sat—like extras in a silent film. The setup clearly doesn’t help. One person was making crepes, and the rest? Hard to say. With a 15-minute wait for a single crepe, I had plenty of time to ponder the inefficiency.
Now for the truly strange part: every single employee was wearing a mask. No other business in Frankenmuth was doing this. Are they sick? Are we in a high-alert biohazard zone no one told me about? Either way, it was unsettling and made communication nearly impossible. Muffled voices in a dim faux-Paris backdrop made me feel like I was in an oddly themed escape room.
As for the crepes—hot, yes. Tasty? Sure. But crispy. Crispy. That’s not how a crepe should feel, unless someone confused it with a quesadilla. At that point, I wasn’t about to wait another 15 minutes to get it redone.
This place could be charming, but it needs a serious reboot. New staff, new setup, maybe even a new vibe. Right now, it's less La Vie en Rose and more La Meh...
Read moreBad Experience! My family and I visited this place on Sunday morning, January 14, 2018. There was only one employee making crepes for a family of three that came in before us. We stood and waited to be assisted for about 5 minutes without any acknowledgement from the employee. Then another customer walked in and the employee suddenly stopped what she was doing and went to assist that customer. She took his order and money while we were standing there like we didn’t even exist. I acknowledged our presence by saying that “I am sorry but we have been waiting to be helped”. Even the new customer asked the employee to wait on us first because we had been waiting before him. She still didn’t say anything to us, or apologize. She didn’t even look at us. She went back to what she was doing previously and continued ignoring us for some reason that I cannot figure out. I have never experienced anything like that before in my life. We left right away without saying anything. I didn’t want to ruin my time with my family in Frankenmuth. I will never go back to that place again. Unfortunately It takes one ignorant employee to ruin the reputation for an...
Read moreSo I had the grand marnier one. It was just past open, and it was good. Then I went around the shops and came back for more. Holy cow. Only 3 people were ahead of me, but they were behind. So I waited a good 20-30 mins. There were 2 other girls that must have started after 11. So, the 1st one that made my crepe was not on the grill. I felt the girl with red hair was very skimpy on some of the crepes. I was hoping she didn't make mine... she did. The 2nd time, I got strawberry cheesecake. Well, sometimes she didn't put the strawberries evenly all over. She didn't put much cream chees le and just a little graham crackers. I didn't even taste the graham crackers at all. My strawberries were all towards the center. It tasted good when I got to the middle but was dry 2-3 inches from the top how they give it to you. So you pretty much have to let it cool down and flip it to start at the bottom. Maybe some of the measurements could be better. I felt like I got jipped my second time. Frozen coco wasn't bad. I'll try again if I'm in the area. I'm over 7 hours away. Overall,...
