Two Stars for Effort, but Yikes for the Experience

Stopped into La Crepe du Jour on a busy afternoon, hoping for a sweet little taste of Paris. What I got instead was a bizarre time warp to early pandemic energy, topped with a side of confusion.

Let’s start with the staff: five people on duty, but only three seemed to be doing anything, while the other two sat—yes, sat—like extras in a silent film. The setup clearly doesn’t help. One person was making crepes, and the rest? Hard to say. With a 15-minute wait for a single crepe, I had plenty of time to ponder the inefficiency.

Now for the truly strange part: every single employee was wearing a mask. No other business in Frankenmuth was doing this. Are they sick? Are we in a high-alert biohazard zone no one told me about? Either way, it was unsettling and made communication nearly impossible. Muffled voices in a dim faux-Paris backdrop made me feel like I was in an oddly themed escape room.

As for the crepes—hot, yes. Tasty? Sure. But crispy. Crispy. That’s not how a crepe should feel, unless someone confused it with a quesadilla. At that point, I wasn’t about to wait another 15 minutes to get it redone.

This place could be charming, but it needs a serious reboot. New staff, new setup, maybe even a new vibe. Right now, it's less La Vie en Rose and more La Meh...

Bad Experience! My family and I visited this place on Sunday morning, January 14, 2018. There was only one employee making crepes for a family of three that came in before us. We stood and waited to be assisted for about 5 minutes without any acknowledgement from the employee. Then another customer walked in and the employee suddenly stopped what she was doing and went to assist that customer. She took his order and money while we were standing there like we didn’t even exist. I acknowledged our presence by saying that “I am sorry but we have been waiting to be helped”. Even the new customer asked the employee to wait on us first because we had been waiting before him. She still didn’t say anything to us, or apologize. She didn’t even look at us. She went back to what she was doing previously and continued ignoring us for some reason that I cannot figure out. I have never experienced anything like that before in my life. We left right away without saying anything. I didn’t want to ruin my time with my family in Frankenmuth. I will never go back to that place again. Unfortunately It takes one ignorant employee to ruin the reputation for an...

So I had the grand marnier one. It was just past open, and it was good. Then I went around the shops and came back for more. Holy cow. Only 3 people were ahead of me, but they were behind. So I waited a good 20-30 mins. There were 2 other girls that must have started after 11. So, the 1st one that made my crepe was not on the grill. I felt the girl with red hair was very skimpy on some of the crepes. I was hoping she didn't make mine... she did. The 2nd time, I got strawberry cheesecake. Well, sometimes she didn't put the strawberries evenly all over. She didn't put much cream chees le and just a little graham crackers. I didn't even taste the graham crackers at all. My strawberries were all towards the center. It tasted good when I got to the middle but was dry 2-3 inches from the top how they give it to you. So you pretty much have to let it cool down and flip it to start at the bottom. Maybe some of the measurements could be better. I felt like I got jipped my second time. Frozen coco wasn't bad. I'll try again if I'm in the area. I'm over 7 hours away. Overall,...

I've been here ten other times, but my husband hadn't eaten here yet. We each ordered a savory crepe for dinner, and for dessert, we each ordered a sweet dessert crepe. They were alright. I don't recommend the Reuben Crepe, and I was so looking forward to it ☹️, so I hate to even say anything - but my thinly-sliced 2 pieces of corned beef must have been MICROWAVED LITERALLY TO DEATH because it was literally BOILING HOT and all wavy and curled up; it was almost hard as a rock. I could not even eat the crepe because the meat was so hard and hot.... but I wanted to taste the swiss cheese and the thousand island dressing, so I decided to remove the overly-cooked meat from it. It wasn't a Reuben without any tender, succulent corned beef, but the cheesy crepe was okay. On a positive note, the Strawberry Cheesecake sweet crepe tasted delicious. To the staff: please please look at your cooking process of the corned beef - I would honestly LOVE to give you folks another chance to make me an AMAZING Reuben Crepe! ♥️krissy

45 minute wait. Killed my back standing on the cement floor for almost 45 minutes. To be fair the restaurant had just opened and it has a high popularity. No where to sit while I waited. 7 tables inside, maybe one or two outside The staff hustled and they know what they're doing but there was such a big crowd of tourists (June 11). The cooking space is too small to add another cook station. The coffee had a weird flavour to it. I think I asked for a vanilla shot but it tastes more...fruity? The crepe, the "Sierra" was wonderful. I think when they say honey mustard they might mean Dijon mustard which is even better. It's an hour later and I am the only person in here now. I would come back but not for brunch time.

When I first arrived I was super excited about the variety of crepes they served. It wasn't until after we ordered and moved to the side to wait we heard them tell another customer after us it would be 25 minutes before food was ready. When we finally got our crepes they were over cooked to the point of crunchy on the edges and rubbery in the middle. Honestly we couldn't finish them and ended up throwing them away. I didn't give it a 1 because the staff was super friendly and very professional telling another guest they needed to wait outside since they didn't have a mask. We had already left the restaurant (since you couldn't eat inside) or we would have asked to have them remade.
