When you first walk in everyone looks at you strange, like you don't belong. I came in with a group of 7 and they were able to seat us right away which was a pleasant surprise. That's where the pleasantries end. A few of us in our group ordered some drinks. The two cocktails that were ordered had some strange black things in them. We brought this up to our server who was very understanding but the bartender, Alana, ( older woman with platinum blonde hair with a boy cut) was wretched. We were sitting by the bar so we could hear everything that was said but even if we were sitting across the room we would have been able to hear her complain about us sending the drinks back, since she was practically yelling at the waiter. She then proceeds to pour the drinks into a clear glass so prove us wrong that there was nothing in the drink and arguing with us about it. The whole group felt very uncomfortable about this so decided to pay for the canned beer that didn't get sent back. We asked the waiter for the check and he felt so bad for the experience we had that he said we didn't have to pay for the beer. We ended up leaving a tip for him because our interaction with him was the only positive out of this situation. As we were leaving to go somewhere else for food she is arguing and yelling at us for leaving. She kept asking what the problem was and we told her that there were things in the drinks and her response did not make us comfortable. She didn't want to hear what we had to say she just wanted to argue and curse at us as we walk out. Our group was very respectful and didn't want to make scene but she was on a mission to make everyone in the restaurant uncomfortable. I will NOT recommend this place. It was the worst experience I have ever had a restaurant. I'm not the type of person to write reviews but I feel this experience called for it. Enter this establishment at...

We went to the red dot and were forced to sit inside. It had been raining and cleared up, but nobody would wipe down a table for us. We should have known this place would be a bust based on how they spoke to us on the phone, but we gave it a shot anyways. Since we had to be inside, we asked to be seated away from people and were placed in a dark corner beside the service station. Still, we tried to give it a shot and ordered some drinks. Our server left our table in the middle of taking our drink order and it took a solid 10 mins to get drinks. I have worked in restaurants my whole life and so has my partner- we are always understanding and kind when a place is busy. After a few minutes, we decided to pay for the drinks and go elsewhere for several reasons. This is when the manager Alana came up to our table without a mask, very close and told us we had broken the law by not ordering food- which nobody had mentioned when we walked in. She continued to berate and interrogate us for another 5 minutes while we waited for the bill and tried to bully us into staying. They’re lucky we didn’t cause a scene and refuse to pay the bill because that is genuinely how rude she was. Not sure if they were understaffed or if Ms Alana owns the place, but you shouldn’t speak to paying customers that way. She had an attitude reminiscent of a 16 year old girl who’s parents told her she can’t use the car. Do...

I usually don’t write reviews but this place deserves it because of my experience. The owner is one of the nastiest person I have ever come across. Food was okay, the patio is pretty and the service by all others was great - but by golly the owner is a spiteful, people-hating and self-absorbed lady. Some of the other reviews here say the same thing and I see why. She was rude, screamed at our group as well as the poor waiters who were so overworked. She was condescending and ill-mannered, just the worst type of person you can expect in a service industry. In today’s world, service is as if not more important than food quality - and we have come across many rude people in NYC but this was disgusting. Stay away - there are much much much better options along that street, I would recommend avoiding this spot at all costs. Feel bad for the waiters and hostess - they were so sweet but were clearly scared of the tyranny of the owner. I hope the owner reads this and tries to self improve and become a better person - she completely...

This is one of those truly GREAT surprises. We would always walk past, peep inside the cozy interior, review the menu and think "Hm this could be good but...how could thai curried vegetables, mussels marniere and a black bean quesadilla all be done well on one menu"? We took a chance one night and have been completely converted. The food is consistently impressive and there is something to be said for a place that always delivers on good, simple dishes with the highest quality ingredients. Hats off to the chef, Mark and the owner Alanna for providing what feels like a dying breed of restaurants that offer a cash discount, perfectly executed humble food in a historic space (ask Alanna about its past). What we can vouch for: the Caesar salad (with perfectly cooked chicken), the mussels (best in early summer), the fish and chips, shishito peppers and don't forget the fries and mashed potatoes.

Really disappointing… very expensive for what we were actually served (recession sized?) I felt so bad for all the customers who came in and were turned away, they weren’t even halfway out the door before the bar tender started cursing them out, making faces at their backs and mother f’ing anyone who came in inquiring to those who were sitting at the bar. This happened the entire time we were there. Real mood killer. The hours were a bit confusing (the restaurant closes a few hours in between lunch and dinner it seems) so it happened pretty often. For such an “all are welcome here” front- the bartender had the actual meanest attitude to be in customer service. The only high points were our waitress and the Bloody Mary. Don’t waste your time you will be cursed out behind your back. Saddest 15$ chicken sandwich we ever had lol. Too bad because the ambiance could be really cool.

Rolled into this place since the other veggie friendly place (according to this app and meaning there might be a few veggie dishes on a mostly meat menu) nearby was packed, but expectations were fully surpassed. As a pescatarian who avoids greasy meaty meals, my arugula salad with added shrimp was divine. And the bean quesadilla, oh man, just super yummy. Wait person was fine, but since I was alone and an affluent looking 5 person table was nearby on this gorgeous-outside-in-the-back dining area, I was a tiny bit low priority, which is fine and makes sense. Maybe this review needs to be under the veggie old person alone category. Highly recommend based on this first visit.
