We were on the way to Canada and had a night halt at this small town. it was a weekday evening, and this area was deserted (did not know that their main street [Cornelia St] had all the food chain restaurants) The restaurant is very old but keeps the old charm intact. They have been in business for 60 years and claim their customers are pretty close to being family. Arnie's upstairs dining room almost feels like a relative's formal dining room. coming to food which was the worst part. * Gingerbread: I am not an expert on Expert on Italian food, but gingerbread was never like this. they just kept it in a toaster and cheese slice and that's it... see the photo. I felt like I was eating a big cheese piece on normal bread - 0/5. * Shrimp Scampi- so they just brought boiled spaghetti with shrimp... IMO, it was not cooked at all, they might have tossed it in a wok, but nope, it was not edible at all. Upon asking, all we heard was - we make it like that. We returned it. * Hot Turkey Sandwich: considering all the food we got, I guess I am satisfied with the sandwich... Server (fat lady, I am not judging folks)- she was good though, sweet and patient with us. It's just food was not at all good, and we did not have a nice experience here.

Came to this restaurant because of Google Reviews, unfortunately the service was awful and lacking hospitality. It started right away when 14 of us showed up and they said right away they couldn't accommodate us... Without even asking How are you or anything. We should have turned away but most of the group wanted pasta and we were hungry. The lasagna and the spaghetti & meatballs were tasty. The Italian Hot Sausage sandwich and the Chicken Alfredo was so-so. We also got charged full adult price for our kids meals...not cool.

One of the guys at the hotel I stayed at and another of my doctor friends recommended Arnie's and I'm so glad I took to their recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed my meals. I ordered the grilled liver and onions and spaghetti with sauce. Omg the grilled liver and onions were everything and more. The guy at the bar was very very friendly, I also met a lot of nice people there. I recommend this restaurant if you are in Plattsburgh don't think twice just go try them out.

I do not like to leave negative reviews on social media, but there was no way to contact the restaurant via email (just phone, which interrupts business), and when I went in person, there was only one staff member present (busy behind the bar) and that person didn't even acknowledge my presence as I stood waiting. A simple "I'll be right with you" would have sufficed, but that didn't happen. After that, I decided there IS a problem with their level of service, so I am posting this: We made reservations weeks in advance for a 430 seating on Mother's Day. It was early as one of our group of 6 had to leave no later than 615. Our drink and appetizer order was taken immediately, then I watched as the tables around us, who arrived after us, were all served. Just about the time I was sure we had been been forgotten, our drinks arrived. As we waited for the meal, I watched again as everyone else was served theirs. Our meal was finally brought...at 615...just in time for the one in our group to put it in a box and leave. Our meal order wasn't "special", we asked for nothing out of the ordinary. There were other groups the same size as ours. We have no idea what the problem was, but it put a damper on our day. No complaints about the food. Just the service. And we didn't say anything at the time because by then we were pressed for time as we had...

The food is always great. However the last 2 times that I've went the service is absolutely horrible. Everything has taken forever to get. I'm here now, been here for an hour and still haven't gotten our meals. We've literally seen people behind us get seated get their food and pay and leave. The waitress just told me that "they're cooking it and it's out of her control" However what about the water refills we asked for that is in her control and that took way longer than it should have. Initial drinks came up on the dummy waiter and she took them and sat them down on the counter and brought other tables their beer and left our sodas just sitting there, until it finally hit her that these sodas are for one of her tables. I've been coming here for almost all my life, since way before Arnie died, and im considering never coming back. It's mostly just the one older waitress with blond hair. The other skinny waitress runs her butt off and is on point. This other lady has made our last two visits the worst. I'm not tipping this lady and I have zero remorse for it. I'm usually not like that, but your tip reflects your service and the service has...
