I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because of these small things? For this restaurant being and looking slight upscale especially in Plattsburgh was slightly dull. The color scheme in the place was very downing. It needs a lot more color features, not just pricey paintings on the walls. Where we was sitting the carpets was super worn out like if it was the first carpet ever put inside it.
It had food particles on the floor. We were there a little after opening. I know for a fact we were the first there. Again as a reminder?? Slightly upscale restaurant, you would walk in a nice cleaned up place. I will say this on a defense for maybe the dirty floor. Maybe they are short handed and maybe couldn't do a 100% for the next day to open.
We did get water, but in almost any restaurant ive eaten, and ive been around so many. From the time we sat there after ordering our food, not 1 piece of complementary bread and butter. That would of took away from sitting there in awkwardness regardless of good music playing in the background. My wife had a dirty glass, not such a big issue but many others would of walked out.
Regardless my wife's food to her was great. My food was just ok for a 3 cheese macaroni with mixed veggies and onions in it. It was nice at the top but watery on the bottom. I went through half of it because I love food. I put salt in it just to turn up the flavor. Still needed more. My wife suggested for parmesan cheese. It then turned it up 100%. Now I'm not bashing what I had, it was just bland and needed a bit more spice to it. I will suggest to ask for a side of parmesan cheese. Trust me.
In all the waitress was very nice. The cook is good but it took nearly 25 to a half hour before we got our food. Yes I will come again just to see if there's another food I will fall in love with. I'm a big time food critic and speak nothing but the truth of any restaurant I walk in. Until next time I hope I can be pleased for my next meal. Blessings and always...
Read moreCame here for a date night with my girlfriend and we loved it. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. It was a nice cozy feel and lucky for us we got a booth which helped give us some privacy to be able to chat and have our time together over a nice dinner. I had a dirty vodka martini with my dinner and it was just how I like it, very dirty but well strained so bits of olive from the brine weren’t floating around in my drink. We started with the truffle fries and a cup of the potato cheddar ale soup. We loved both. My GF is a truffle fry fanatic and thought these were the best ones she’s ever had. Soup is a massive staple of her diet and she thought the soup was silky and flavorful, which I agree with. I had the chef’s bistro steak medium and added red wine Demi glacé and sautéed mushrooms. The whole meal was very flavorful and good sized portion. I thought the steak would be a little thicker but am not complaining at all. The steak was cooked medium as I requested and the red wine sauce was so good. I’m a chef who prides himself on cooking steaks so I know a great steak dinner when I have one. The presentation was nice and straight forward. My GF had the fettuccine Alfredo with veg. She liked it a lot. For dessert we shared a Java-tini and the Chocolate covered Cherry martini with a warmed chocolate bourbon brownie soufflé. All were delicious but I liked the Java-tini better. I can appreciate the presentation of the chocolate Cherry one but I’d have rather the chocolate syrup had been put into the drink and mixed up into it than along the interior of the glass. The soufflé was delicious and plated beautifully. Thank you Irises staff for a great night out with my GF. We will definitely be back and will recommend...
Read moreI was visiting Plattsburg and my friend suggested we dine at Irises. We had a table outside and that was nice. The server and hostess were very nice. I was not concerned on their pricing however I will warn you if you are on a tight budget this is probably not going to be the place for you. The average is 20$ + per plate. House glass of wine is 8+ dollars a glass so the Average person is going to be a 35$ experience. Their entree's come with rice which I wanted to opt out of and asked for a side salad instead and to just add whatever that would be for me to substitute. They literally put that in place of the rice on the plate and all. I got the Shrimp Scampi so the vegetable and the salad all on the place with the shrimp made all the food soggy. Why they didn't put the salad in a bowl and just bring me a side salad is beyond me. I'm not overly picky so I didn't mind the food touching. They charged me for a side salad and gave me about half of what they put in a normal side salad on a place. This place is supposed to be upscale. Example of incompetence coming out of the kitchen. I'm shocked that the head cook in...
