We both got chimichangas...his was much more flavorful than mine. He got the asada and I got the chicken. Very good homemade chips but the chunky guac and the salsa is way over priced, could be a bit more flavorful for the price. Our bill for 2 chimichangas, one order of chips, chunky guac and salsa was $43. That's pretty steep in my eyes it should have been amazing not just mediocre. Cheechako taco(same location) had free chips and salsa which were also delicious I think Lomelis should provide this as well. I was not left wanting more, like I said his was way more flavorful than mine...mine was just ok. It tasted very fresh but nothing special. When I tasted his I was like "Wow what a difference!" The waitresses were very kind and helpful they really made it an enjoyable atmosphere. The bathrooms could be cleaned better...there was urine on the seat...not really what you want to do is wipe someone else's urine off the toilet seat before you use it. Great portion size though the chimichangas were enormous and left us very full. Overall I would rate a 3 out of 5. Not the best I've had but not the worst. They could improve by lowering their prices because simply it's not worth...
Read moreA hidden gem in Plattsburgh, Lomeli's is our new favorite spot.
It's off the beaten path a bit, but most good local spots are. Lomeli's is currently located in the Big Lots plaza all the way in the back. But Armando says they're moving soon to a better location on Oak St.
We came just after "lunch hour" at around 1:30, and had absolutely no wait. Armando was attentive and friendly, the kind of jovial owner/operator I appreciate. The place is brightly colored and cozy, and I was surprised how comfortable the benches at the booths were. Our only complaint about the atmosphere is that it was a bit chilly at our seat next to the window, but it's wintertime in the North Country.
The food came quickly, and was incredible. I can't say enough good things about the food here. Nothing we ordered was subpar. It's obvious that this family takes pride in their food, and so good at what they do.
For the two of us, the bill came to $44. We ordered the chicken enchilada casserole, a garbage burrito, guacamole fries, chips and salsa, and 2 canned sodas. There is easily enough left over for another full meal. I'm so full as I type this, but I can't wait to get into...
Read moreI have ordered from Lomeli's a few times and the food has always been mediocre. But this last order was simply gross. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were way over salted. All of the food was cold, soggy and the container was soggy. The wax paper they put under the enchiladas and the other food to try to prevent it from leaking through the cheap cardboard container ends up sticking to the food so you have to peel it off and pieces of it end up in the food. But last night the refried beans were way over salted, the rice was bland and I ended up throwing the entire meal away and requesting a refund. Every Mexican restaurant I have ordered from before has put the food in an aluminum container with a plastic cover and kept it hot while it is being delivered. I am very disappointed and will...
