Bad. Bad. Bad. Awful. Bad.
The descriptions in the menu make the items so delicious. It's not true.
The prices match what you EXPECT to get but NOT what you actually receive.
My partner & I were both sick after eating there. And our wallets were less happy, too.
Tables were dirty. I gave some leeway because they were outside but there was gunk stuck in the crevices of the edge of the corners of tables.
We were hopeful of this place. The reviews sounded good. The place looked good, laidback, on the water, fun, etc.
We felt very deceived.
I think many people don't really, truly(!), know how to rate. They just put 5stars down if they didn't get sick but the food tasted ok.
-5stars are for a returnable, undeniable perfect experience with nothing overlooked, knowledgeable wait staff, awesome atmosphere, cleanliness, prices, decor, etc -4 for the returnable experiences with minor flaws. -3 stars is fitting for an experience that had some concerns but would return to try it again to see if they would change. -2 stars means that you had a bad experience & had to talk to management & mgmt tried to put it right. -1 star is for NEVER RETURNING EVER AGAIN.
An entire experience that allows me to portray to others why I would or wouldn't return somewhere (whether it's a car wash or a hotel) includes: **Atmosphere: how I felt while there & the experience they were trying to lend me: -with the decor, -the ease of seating, -the type of customer they draw in, -if the seating was too much & had a crowd that it wasn't comfortable, -not feeling suffocated while trying to accomplish whatever you're there for (reading, studying, meetings, eating, reunions, etc), -the description of their services or products was conveyed correctly, etc --- how it made you feel! **Price: Matching what they were selling. If selling low quality service or food at high prices then it's not worthy of a good review **Experience: Staff treated me well, respectful, gave conversation, tended to my or my companions' needs, etc **Cleanliness: If I have to wipe off the table or clean the room before I go to sleep or anything related to a previous contamination not being properly cleaned then these typical cleanliness standards were not met which means if you lack care to be clean or have a clean employee or facility then I equate that lack of care being passed onto your customers: you dont care about your facility means you dont care about me. **Staff: Attentiveness, cleanliness, respectful, thoughtful, communicative, etc. Obviously if it's busy then I don't expect a conversation. But I do expect you to know the limits of your restaurant & staff enough to not force them into being overly worked because that portrays bad busieness, as well! If you care more about money than guests being treated well or receiving what they need in a timely manner then this means you dont care about customers returning. **Product offerings: (Services, Food Stuffs, Attractions/Adventures, Experiences, Items, Rapport, Support, Real Estates/Rentals, Loans/Banking, Wealth & Financial Care, Health Care, etc) The ability to manage guests happiness with your service standards while maintaining respectful attentiveness without diminishing your own business...
Read moreOk. This place was recommended by two locals. One of them, real estate agent, said: "This is a good place. Used to have terrible food, which is ironic, because owner is a professional cook. Now it is good". So I went there with my girlfriend.
Well, location is good. Seems like the only restaurant in town by the lake. Boats block the lakeview, but it is ok. Interior is nice, old wooden structure with neon signs, fish, nautical things hanging on the ceiling. Nothing too unique, but nice. Typical to the bars located in many eastern marine towns.
Now the bad things. Service was extremely slow. We didn't get all the menus and had to wait for them about 15 minutes. Chairs and table were wet, we were standing until someone actually paid attention to us. Waiter checked on us rarely, we were sitting with empty glasses for a long time. He was quick on collecting payment though! Offered to bring us the plastic bag for leftovers after we paid, but never arrived.
Food. Mediocre at best (that's being generous). We ordered seafood sampler, red snapper, and crab roll. Seafood sampler - tastless shrimp, regular smoked salmon (you can get it in any grocery store), crab claws were dirty (they never botherd washing them!!), cold, and tasted like swamp (really nasty), crab salad was ok. Red snapper was rubbery (couldn't cut it with the regular table knife), wery chewy and plain. The worst part is the side - pineapples with raw onions and peppers. I don't know what kind of insane person thought that combination like this will be pleasant to anyone. I hope it is not the owner with cooking education. Crab roll was ok, but only OK, same salad inside as in the seafood sampler. Average, nothing special about fries. I also ordered "frozen drink". When they brought it, it was just a blend mixture at room temperature (our waiter replied. "oh, that's the first time I serve it, I didn't know" !). Also ordered "signature cocktail" that was supposed to be in a pinapple. They were out of pineapples, but the price were still $25, pretty small drink, you can get larger margarita in Texas Roadhouse for $12. If this is "good" (according to the real estate agent), I am afraid to think what it was like when the food was bad. Don't even want to think about it.
Pricetag was unexplainably high. Bill was $120 for what we ordered. Considering location and quality, it is pure ripoff. Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone. Maybe we just got unlucky. Go there for a cheap drink, but definitely don't eat there. Don't order any "signature items". I guess they really take an advantage of being the only place in town...
Read moreWhat a terrible time for me and my friends tonight. Really i have never had to good of a time at the naked turtle. So i was on my boat and pulled in and the guy says it will be 8 dollars to get a slip. I thought that was a little steep considering I would be using their establishment but i paid. We went and put or name down for a table. Its 2018 and they use a notepad for their wait status. Strange but they say the wait will be 10 minutes and then another 10 minutes ten minutes later then ten minutes later they say it will be 15. I have 2 young kids with me and i just paid 8 dollars to park my vehicle. These kids are getting hangry. So the kitchen is backed up and the wait staff is behind. I order a pizza to be delivered to wilcox dock instead and say peace out. I go to get my slip refunded and the young man who greets me says no problem. Then some older guy with knee brace comes out and is very rude. Says “you can't get a refund here”. When all i did was come in and ask the guy snapped too and gave me immediate attitude. I’ll eat the 8 bucks and never go back to save my money. Plattsburgh boat basin and the turtle have terrible customer service. Whoever the old man was working on the gas dock on 06/16/2018 should be fired terrible customer service and what a way to not retain customers. Do yourself a favor if your traveling by boat and look up dana’s rusty anchor or Dominic's at treadmill bay or even whatever is a at breakwaters. NON of those places charge to park your boat when eating and the food is much better. Plus some old dude with a power complex won’t be there to give you attitude. And thank you pizza bono for delivering to wilcox dock. I would give zero stars but it...
