The atmosphere is fun and trendy. Setup is interesting with how you order for first time visitors but next time I’ll be ready for how it’s kind of awkward with the service. My friend and I had the fish fry. The fish was sooo wet inside the nice crispy batter. It was the oddest contrast of textures I have ever tasted. It was almost like the fish had been soaking in a white egg wash and water and then beer battered. Batter, fries, and tartar sauce were very good. The fish you couldn’t even tell it was haddock. It was extremely slippery, not flaky in the way you’d want your fish. The best way to describe it is slimy like and it basically disintegrated in your mouth, very strange! We paid for everything as there was now one to tell that the food just wasn’t pleasant. No biggie we paid and left. I tried to inform them via IG to which they didn’t respond in a humble and “hey we want t make sure people enjoy what they pay for” way. They actually asked if I had ever had haddock....umm who hasn’t!?! So I thought that was a rude way to respond. I didn’t intent to hurt anyone’s feelings but they are a newer place maybe they didn’t taste the food today and something was off with the fish. So someone agreed with me regarding the same meal they had and Swan Dive removed the picture from their IG. That’s concerning as they are censoring the reviews. We didn’t say anything hash and actually give compliments with the constructive feedback. Just a little concerning as I get a lot of my local eatery suggestions from IG and read the comments to see if I want to try out a new place and to thing they aren’t being completely honest with the feedback on their page is interesting. I would give them another try as I have heard the pizza is good but just something to think about. I wouldn’t order the fish ever again. Especially knowing they can’t take...
Read moreThis is to respond to the owner regarding one of your other responses to a previous review in which I had the same type of interactions and feelings with. The night that I was at your establishment was on a Friday night. In order to have a high customer service rating, the night that someone visits your establishment should not matter. Your staff should be consistent in all aspects and on every night. I have also never heard of a "fast-fine dining restaurant" before. That is just a fancy way to cover for the fact that you open at 4pm and mainly serve alcoholic beverages with a side of some food (which is not all that good anyway, besides the pizza). There are three bars in your "restaurant". I would recommend reducing that number to one, having more seating arrangements, and hiring new staff in the kitchen who know how to cook basic foods so as to not inadvertently classify yourself as a dive bar. As for the NYS Clean Indoor Air Act, well, that speaks for itself. "INDOOR". I was outside your establishment standing away from the OUTDOOR chairs and tables you have when I was told I was not allowed to smoke there. The regulation indicates that it prohibits smoking IN virtually all workplaces, including restaurants and bars. Emphasis on IN, inside. To close here. Your staffs customer service is terrible, you may not like it but you in-fact inadvertently classified yourselves as a dive bar with the set up you have and the way your establishment is run, and lastly... your interpretation of the NYS Clean Indoor Air Act (Public Health Law, Article...
Read moreCame here early on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy yet. I enjoyed the Wes Anderson-y decor and the fact that there are two separate bars to ease congestion. I don't usually order $10 drinks since I'm a cheapskate, but I thought I'd love it up a little. Or bartender was friendly and attentive. My wife got the rotating slushie. I can't remember what exactly is was composed of, but it was Negroni week so that's all I remember being in it. Neither of us were a fan, but it was well made and the texture was perfect. She instead opted for a margarita on the rocks, which was pleasantly strong and made with fresh lime juice and simple syrup. My friend ordered the Long Island Iced Tea, which tasted exactly as you expect one should taste like (ie Coke). I got the Pretty Slick, which is mezcal based, and it was hands down the best cocktail I've ever had. It had so much depth in its flavor profile. All of the ingredients played well with each other and were perfectly balanced. It had some sweetness but was far from cloying. I'd happily lose my wallet drinking...
