Reservations- Terrible. We called 2 weeks and 3 days prior to the date we were hoping to reserve an outdoor “igloo”. We were told that that specific staff was not available and to leave a message with a 3 hour time slot that would work with 1 specific, preferred time they would try to accommodate. After not getting a call back I called back over a week ahead of time and again, received no call back. After a third call they informed us they had no record of our reservation and that they were completely booked. Disappointed, but trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, we reserved an inside table. The inside table was great (there isn’t a bad seat in the house), but both outside igloos were empty for the 4 hours we were there. We asked the waiter (who was phenomenal) if we could possibly move to an igloo and they said because we didn’t pay the $25 per person reservation fee we could not. We offered to pay the fee and they came back and said no, again.
Bar- great. We all had different signature cocktails and they were some of the most unique and best I’ve ever tasted.
Server- fantastic personality and genuinely appeared to to be doing the best he could given he was the only server covering all tables ( he did have food runners who were also excellent). He was very upbeat, professional and accommodating.
Food-
Apps: ehhh nothing special. Bacon on a string shouldn’t be any notable restaurant’s highlight. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but any restaurant that can mess up bacon has a very special terminatable quality.
Dinner: Embarrassingly bad. The worst lobster I’ve ever had. In hind sight, I should have asked if it was wild caught but I’m not sure that would have mattered because this had to be out of a can. Farm raised would have been a preference for the first time in my life. Absolutely disgusting. Inedible. Claw meat came with a full hunk of cartilage in it which normally isn’t a deal breaker but this was worth noting since nothing about this dish was good. Seemingly, whoever cooked/ constructed the dish could not have cared less. Pasta was acceptable at best. Sauce had a perfect level of heat but lacked salt and any kind of depth of flavor.
For the 3 guests I had dinner with, the halibut was good and the bolognese sauce was ok with excellent pasta.
If it wasn’t for our amazing waitstaff team and excellent drinks from the bar, I would gladly give this facility the lowest rating possible. As a local, it’s hard to see a restaurant that I previously enjoyed, take such a dramatic dive.
Price- Average for the business they market. WAY too high for the lack of quality they produce. Even with a beautiful building and excellent bar, charging $30 + per plate for food that any mom and pop restaurant could do a better job with is something they should...
Read moreMade a reservation here for brunch before the Belmont since we did last year and it was fantastic. Arrived for our seating and were told because it was raining, they were slammed and it would be a few minutes for a table. No problem, totally get it, it's a very busy day. Didn't notice a ton of people there as there were many open tables inside and outside but ok maybe they are short staffed. Got sat promptly on the patio in a great spot out of the rain. 10 minutes or so went by before our server came. We ordered a bottle of wine and a cocktail and an appetizer. 20 minutes or so later the drinks arrived. The appetizer came shortly after and was delicious. We started an actual timer at this point to see if our entrees were also going to take forever. FIFTY minutes later, our entrees arrived. They were delicious, but 50 minutes for some basic brunch dishes? While this fiasco of waiting was going on, I had to use the restroom. I went to the ladies room which had a sign in it saying "closed for repairs." The "repairs" appeared to entail a man painting the ceiling trim (is the day of the Belmont an appropriate time to do some cosmetic work?!). The sign said to use the basement bathroom instead. I went to the elevator to get to the basement that had a line about 8 people deep with luggage carts checking in. I asked the bellman if there were stairs to get to the basement and was told "I don't know, ask the front desk". I went to the front desk and was told "no". So then I went back to the line for the elevator and rode it up and down with the check in people and finally down to the basement. Used the restroom, left, and there was still no indication anywhere of any stair cases to get back upstairs besides wait for the elevator. Finally a few managers walked by and I asked if there was a staircase. They said I could go thru the staff area and up the stairs there. Once we were finally eating our hour wait meals, our server once again disappeared. My husband wanted more syrup for his waffles, but after 22 minutes of her not showing up to check on us, he just said forget it. We finally were able to grab the server from the table next to us and asked her if she could send our server over. She said sure, what color hair does she have? And we said brown....literally every server on we saw had brown hair. Our server finally came by again and we asked for our check. She was able to bring that promptly and did get our appetizer taken off the bill due our very long, inexplicable wait. That was much appreciated. Great food, very poor management. I think they can do...
Read moreUnfortunately I'm unable to review the food as my husband and I couldn't have paid someone to acknowledge us long enough to seat us.
We attempted to have brunch here, and upon arrival we saw that there appeared to be available tables outside in the front. There was no hostess present, but at the front door there was a sign directing patrons to enter and speak with the host inside. We headed inside and waited by what appeared to be a hostess stand, but no one was present. A finely dressed man was in the bar area, he may have been the manager, he walked past us and went out to the front patio and seemed to be directing things there. When he came back in I expected him to come speak with us, at minimum acknowledge our presence and the fact that we're waiting but no. He walked by again. In fact he walked by at least three or four times, including when he acted as though we were invisible and greeted an arriving party of two telling them he'd check on their table. After this I went to the front desk, as this establishment is actually a hotel, and inquired if anyone would be over to help us. The attendant was polite and apologetic, and stated that she'd try to locate the hostess for us. I saw as she went looking, and spoke with someone in the bar area who actually looked over to where we were.. progress! I thought... wrong! This lady went right back to doing whatever it was she was doing at the bar. Well dressed mister continued walking in and out, and no other host or hostess came our way. My husband and I choose to leave, because honestly... how long are we supposed to wait for a simple, Hello, how are you today? We'll be with you shortly..?
I was actually excited to try one of the Adelphi Restaurants, as the reviews were very good. Unfortunately that wasn't my experience, I've never been so blatantly disregarded and ignored in my life. Now I have no desire to try any of their restaurants or their hotel. But they obviously did not want my...
