2022 update: Have had a few more encounters with Spring Street since the first review, which didn't keep us away forever. These have all been perfectly fine, and the food has always been good. They mostly offer online ordering now, which is great for avoiding grumpy cashiers/delivery drivers over the phone. Things do often take a little longer than quote, but certainly not the end of the world. We will continue to order from here, and will recommended others do too.
2017 review: Food was good. Had the chicken parm sub, 8" pizza, and some chicken tacos. No complaints there. Had a rude encounter with whoever answered the phone when I placed the order though. I understand I'm calling half an hour before close on a Sunday for a possible delivery a block away, but the guy says "it'll be over an hour for delivery and we close in 30 minutes so..." I ask whether that means they're still delivering or not and he replies with "hey, I said what I said". Not really appreciated on my end. If you're not delivering anymore just tell me and I'll go from there. Don't give me some snarky comment. Really kind of surprised me. I offered to pick it up and everything was fine then, just left a bad taste in my mouth (not literally, the opposite in fact) as a first time customer. The girls who rang me up and brought out the food were great however, even after a...
Read moreMy wife and I used to go here all the time when we were younger so we decided to visit again with our son. Food was still delicious, the subs are amazing! The atmosphere is great with outside seating. There is sort of a bee problem though outside which was a bit of a hassle. Assuming this is because of all the locals with their huge flower beds nearby, but something to consider addressing. Bee allergies BE CAREFUL!
As for the service, it's was at the absolute best just OK. We waited 3 or 4 minutes before anyone came to take our order and then the girl was a bit abrupt and unhelpful, so we just got our standard preferences. I asked a few questions and it seemed like it was difficult to get an answer or any advice. Furthermore the chaulk board menu was almost impossible to make sense of.
To top off this unstellar ordering experience, I ordered a foot long sub, but got a 6". When I went back to explain this, the girl said I 2as wrong and insisted I ordered a 6" and then tried to charge me again for another 6" instead of the difference between the 6" and 12" price. I didn't want to ruin the experience with the hassle of explaining why that was ridiculous, so instead I gave up and settled for the 6" sub.
Still enjoyed it but perhaps consider working on the human to human...
Read moreWe have been going to Spring Street Deli for many years, always order the same thing a Rubin sandwich, this summer we noticed our Rubins, didn’t taste the same, and the Quality was lacking, but we just passed it off as a new cook, or new distributor! Went back later that summer, and basically the same thing, so we decided to just move on, but last week, I was so craving my Rubin, I decided to try again, called in my order, wasn’t ready when we got there, the cashier/server said they will bring it out when it was ready, A bag was put on the counter, as we waited for sometime, went back up to the counter to check again on our order, but our order still wasn’t ready, I asked about the bag that was sitting there for 20 minutes, she said it was a called in order, she checked the name on it, it was our order. My sandwich was still hot, no problem, but again, it was just bad, very little sauerkraut and could barely taste the Russian dressing, and the sandwich came with chips, but we didn’t get them till we already ate our sandwich, yes I could of brought the sandwich back, and ask for another one, but the thought of waiting another 30 minutes stopped me! So very disappointed in Spring Street Deli, that was my...
