Every single time I visit what I now consider to be my favorite restaurant in the whole city, it puts a smile on my face. I may already know how everything will go but it never gets old. Whether I'm dining in or taking out to eat at work or at home, the food is always pristine in it's preparation and immediate in it's speedy service. The knowledgeable, fun, enlightened staff are always keen to tune a newbies palate towards something new to experience.
Let's get to the food directly. First and foremost, you WILL see a higher celestial being in Lotus' bowl of Pho! Their broth, so powerful in it's aromatics and flavor, notes of pineapple, star anise, coriander...the clarity of such a broth brought to bear in front of the consumer takes so much time, skill & patience, is breathtaking, rewarding and healing in it's power. You feeling a little bit under the weather, have a bowl of Pho preferably their House Special with beef 4 different ways, fresh jalapenos, fresh sprigs of Thai basil, translucently sliced onions, and a half a wedge of lime to squeeze into such a delicate and divine dish, setting everything off! Yet I would be remiss if I didn't mention their Vietnamese egg rolls on their appetizer menu as well. They may be smaller than the Chinese variety, but what they lack in size, they MORE than make up for in flavor ten fold!
A few other delicacies that I have personally ordered and more than enjoyed would be their Vietnamese Crepe which on the surface is essentially a folded omelet filled with shrimp, sprouts, cilantro, jalapeno, onions..add a dash of Sriracha (conveniently placed at every table and preferably a staple of everyone's kitchen at home) and this generous portion which could sate three or four customers anxiously awaiting their main course, is the spot hitter to be sure!
Finally, their drink offerings of which are not of the usual fare. They may have Pepsi products but that is not what I am here to say. I almost always have trouble debating what to get with their myriad of offerings for their boba laden smoothies (coming in coconut, durian, dragon fruit, strawberry, mango and my personal favorite avocado!), or perhaps their espresso, preferably the iced option WITH sweetened condensed milk. #ChangeYourLife
Do yourselves a favor and go to and support this locally run and operated dining establishment and never again feel that pang of regret after having choked down some Americanized "Chinese" food buffet style or take out every again, I...
Read moreThis was just...really embarrassing. Tried to make a reservation 3 times, first 2 calls no answer and the third time was in hold for over 5 minutes. I just decided to hang up and eat in with my cousin. Upon arrival we noticed only a few tables where taken and after a few minute wait we where seated and got our drinks. The only server there was a girl of Highschool age was running the entire dinning room which is small. She obviously seemed stressed and upset like us entering to eat was a bother to her when she only had 3 tables . We ordered and as someone who loves pho and even worked in a Vietnamese restaurant for a lengthy period of time I made a point to ask for my meat raw on the side. When our pho came out not how I asked and when I asked her our server about it She said “oh I’m sorry I forgot to tell the cooks” she went to the back to have it fixed they where upset at her and then she proceeded to YELL at the cooks and LIE saying that I had “just told her” when she brought my food out I wanted my meat on the side and that it “wasn’t her fault” She then from that moment on was EXTREMELY rude to me the rest of the night. DONT get the seafood pho it’s honestly nasty and tastes like rotting fish marina water. The House Pho was ok except the tripe tasted old. But the shrimp dumplings where very very good they are the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of one star. Our server honestly killed any hope didn’t even ask how everything was and forgot everything from water to silverware to sauce her actions and attire was pretty unprofessional as she wore a Pulaski hoodie and it was clear this was the only place that would hire her. Sorry that sounds harsh but I’m around the same age as her and would NEVER treat a coworker or a...
Read moreWe came in and were greeted by a polite brunette who took our order for drinks to go. We decided on getting almond slushy boba and a regular thai tea with boba. Waited between 5-10 minutes then our drinks were brought to us by a blonde waitress. We thanked them both and as I walked out the door I tried drink to find that it was cold but had no ice in it (or ice bits like in the case of a frappe like drink). I turned around and confirmed my order with the brunette waitress who agreed that I ordered an almond slushy version. The blonde says “well, I blended it”, I look at the brunette and say, I didn’t expect the drink to be milkshake consistency but it needs to be smoothie consistency. The blonde cuts me off to look at the brunette and tells her to re-make it, turned around and walked off in a huff. The brunette said “I guess I will remake it” and walks off. We hear a blender go off this time and the brunette walks back with a slushed almond drink.
Now while I did look at the menu and find several things that I thought I would come back to try, I am happy to announce that I will never spend anymore money there. Here is why:
Thanks for nothing Lotus, cause the almond powder didn’t dissolve all the way and I am gonna remake it at...
