I ordered from this place back in December 2022 and had a terrible experience with their customer service. I ordered from their website on Christmas Eve at a 5:30 pm and then a little before 6 pm, I get a call from this location saying they already started cleaning up and were unable to fulfill my order as they were closing at 6pm, even though I got a confirmation email saying the food would be ready by 6 pm and my husband was already in the parking lot. I wasn’t too upset because it was Christmas Eve and I understood the employees wanted to be home. What did get me upset is that they have yet to refund me my money which was $89.20 and it has been 4 months. An employee from this location sent me a text of their register screen saying the refund was in process but I never received a refund. The following week after the transaction I was in the area and went into this location and asked why I didn’t get my refund and one of the managers said because of the holidays, there was a slight delay. Weeks went by and still no refund. I went on their website and submitted a message and I never received a response. I called this location again and I was told by an employee that an upper level manager would reach out to me and that never happened. I have tried calling their customer service number and no one ever answers. I also live 2.5 hours away from this location so it’s difficult for me to go to and speak to someone in person. Read moreI wish I can give them no stars! Grand opening today, I go in and the lady serving me has the attitude the minute I walk in. Even before I can give my order she is rolling her eyes and being so rude, she is serving the food in the most messy way as if she doesn't want to serve me. At the same time she is complaining about the customers saying they'll do anything for free platters, they'll even stand out the door. Today was their grand opening so they were offering free platters with every order. There was a young guy behind me but she was talking to him all nice and complaining about me. She continued to talk bad about me while I'm ordering food. I bought 6 platters yet she is treating me with the most utter disrespect. Then the guy next to her is not giving me pita with my combo so when I ask him he said I'll add it to the side then tells the lady she wants more free pita. Can't believe this type of action. Then while I'm paying at the register, the women was super nice and told us she isn't speaking about us to ignore it but clearly she is speaking about me and every customer she had today. I have been to halal guys for years but never received this kind of rudeness. I did record a little of the treatment I got. Never again will I go to this place. This subsequently caused a considerable delay with the order line; which had extended outside to the curb. In addition, because of the unorganized preparation line, it appeared anyone who ordered online for pickup, had to wait even longer for their orders to be prepared. As I walked in, there was a police officer waiting for his order, by the time I reached the cashier, he was still waiting for the order. By “fast food” standards, this is unacceptable.
The food was okay, I ordered the mixed platter with lamb. The lamb was subpar; very oily and it had a gamey taste, as if it had overcooked or was in the warmer for too long. It doesn’t taste anything remotely similar to the 53rd location.
I’d give the benefit of doubt. It’s too soon to say whether or not this Halal guys is good or not. They did just open. However, with the amount of negative reviews that’s amassing, one would hope the owners get their act together.
Recommendation: Extensive staff and managerial training is needed or a new approach to food preparation is needed. The 53rd location is run by 2-3 people. Even though the line is long, they are able to reduce the wait time and deliver better quality than this location which is staffed...
