U walk into a bbq joint and u wld think u wld smell what the rock is cooking. Its not BBQ for sure. Ive been in this kind of Business for Basically since 1994. You walk in and there was no smell of bbq outside or inside. I asked if they had sliced brisket since they had chopped. Nope, just chopped. One hint there that they dont bbq their own meat there, more like a product of commercial food supplier, example of one is Sysco. Not sayn there food is from them. I got a pulled pork sandwich and thank god bag of lays chips came with it. The pork didnt have that good juicy fatty meaty pork taste 1 wld expect. If the menu didnt say it was pork then i wld have never known it was a pork product. Mom got the "smoked" (again chopped) chicken that was suppose to have the bbq sauce alrdy mixed in with it but there not much sauce added, BUT u cld most definetly tell it was previously frozen and possibly smoked chicken, it had that hint of taste of bein frozen. Flavor of both meats were highly bland. Mom got the 8oz portion of bowtie "macaroni" salad wich i kinda liked and dont normally like mac salads. Now the brioche buns were good and i love the bbq sauce cause u will most definetly be needing Lots of it. Even got a brownie and was even said to be not all that great. If you eat here dont go in having high hopes.. if i cld give the rating a 0 i wld have. Sorry smokelahoma but smoking is...
Read moreWent in for lunch, as I was looking for something different from the typical fast food places, so I visited.
Atmosphere was good, aesthetically pleasing and was pretty straight forward with typical BBQ decor and most seating resembled an old school outdoor BBQ joint with bench seating at picnic tables
Service was great also, was waited on promptly, with no issues at all, and a pleasant personality.
I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and upgraded the chips to a side. I chose the Greasy green beans w/ bacon.
The Pulled Pork was seasoned and I could taste the smoke, but was pretty dry. I got the faint taste of something sweet in the pork before I added my BBQ sauce, which was different, but not necessarily a bad thing. The BBQ sauce that came with the meal was fantastic and made the sandwich enjoyable.
Greasy Green Beans w/ Bacon was very good, but for me personally, an added pinch of salt would have sent these green beans into outer space.
Overall it was a good experience, and I...
Read moreI like to find little out of the way places that are really good. So we tried smokelahoma barbecue based on their advertisement for their Texas Twinkies and reviews. The food was okay. Probably somewhere where I wouldn't go again. Their Texas twinkies were good. They should probably put those on their regular menu. Their smoked sausage was good. They don't offer sliced brisket which was disappointing. They smother their chopped brisket in their barbecue sauce. Which I would rather have been served plain and add my own amount of barbeque sauce. Their potato salad was average along with their beans. I didn't care for garlic sticks, would rather have regular bread. I've never been to BBQ place that didn't offer PPO (peppers, pickles, onions) that's a staple for BBQ (and white bread). Overall it's okay. Nothing I would drive there for again. Albert G's is still the best...
