Really disappointed by this experience. I have been by myself, with friends, or with my husband, many times now and I guess i’ve just been lucky the other times to always have great bartenders or servers that day. Today, I went with my husband and 2 friends, and had Ellie as a server, she was an absolute sweetheart and seemed to be new since I hadn’t seen her before and just other things. Anyways, Shiloh, who seemed to be one of the bar managers, was also behind the bar and was supposed to be training her. My issues first started when we arrived and Shiloh saw our group, we are younger, and chose not to serve us and instead turned to Ellie and asked her to help us. I can excuse that as I have also been in this industry for 8 years and understand being stressed at high volume times but she wasn’t busy at the time so it seemed more of like, “I don’t think they’re going to tip me well so I’m not serving them”. After that, my friends arrived and now we were a group of 4, which honestly isn’t much, and Ellie noticing that Shiloh wasn’t busy tried asking Shiloh for help in making our drinks but she refused and instead I waited 20+ minutes off my drink while I watched as new people sat down and got served quickly by the manager, Shiloh. During that time she passed by us several times asking every other guest if they needed anything or if they had gotten everything except for my group. My problems with her persisted when I witnessed Ellie and her making a drink at the same time at the well and she continuously showed her attitude. Over the entire 2 hours we were at Drakes, we witnessed Shiloh, the supposed manager and trainer of the bar, persistently refuse to help Ellie, refuse to help us until the very end when we had asked for our checks, and consistently give attitude when Ellie was just asking for direction. Shiloh should not be in a position to train others since she obviously doesn’t want others to work there and I ask that everyone who is unfortunately served by her to refuse to leave a tip the way she refused us and refuses to do her job as a trainer and even as a bartender. It’s sad to see that bartenders who see others as competition seem to dominate and are in high positions in this area. I’ve learned that people like that never last and I hope that management considers ending her time with them soon or keep losing clientele for horrible service and horrendous...
Read moreSix of us ladies went for a celebration on 03 Dec 2021; we have curves, the booth is NOT curve friendly. The wait for a table on a Friday night was 30 minutes and we were seated in less. When we declined the cramped booth, we were offered a table with backless bar stools, not a complaint there, just more of a warning. Our server did however grab an actual bar stool that had a back from the bar to accommodate one in our group. Drinks: Michelob in a bottle, water with lime, sweet tea, Long Island ice tea and a Sprite; when the server comes back, "I'm sorry, I put your lime in the Sprite." Do you only have one lime? Could you not take it out? Chopsticks save the day, we move on. Twenty minutes later, the ladies who ordered the Michelob and L.I. ice tea are still waiting. Refills on the non alcohol drinks didn't happen until we were about to leave, with the exception of a glass of WARM ice less tea. The Michelob friend was charged for three, when another server had brought her a "second" not realizing she had just gotten one. Food: Three burgers a tuna lovers roll and a teriyaki bowl. All three burgers were cold as were the fries, the teriyaki bowl contents was cold, but the bowl was warm. The tuna lovers roll was room temperature and the "seared" tuna on top tasted like, "chewing on a wet paper towel", friends description. It took over a half hour and manager intervention for a pretzel to arrive. Service: Before COVID, there were and still are other illnesses, mask or no mask, respect the personal bubble! Our server closed in on the end of our short tight table and leaned right in, inches off my face. I started to lean into the person next to me, the server saw that as an opportunity for encroachment. The server continued to invade the table space until they left, and apparently found nothing awkward about me literally laying on the person beside me to avoid them. From then on, our server was harder to find than the Infinity Stones. When a manager came over, we stated our issues, and he pushed HARD to replace the food. Sushi and teriyaki bowl, declined replacement; both had stomach upset within the hour. Sushi was sick before even leaving. Yes, this was a long review, to the reader, I apologize. But it wasn't one, but a combination of a LOT of things that will keep us from returning. I had...
Read moreWe've been to Drake's four or five times over the last couple of years. Not that it's bad, but there are other (favorite) places nearby that we go to more regularly. Yesterday we decided to return to Drake's for dinner and drinks. The one thing we like there is the variety of food and (personally) the list of beer, complete with four serving sizes and associated prices, making for a fun analytical process for someone like me with OCD. I immediately found that most draft beers were cheaper per ounce if you bought the 12oz glass compared to the 16oz. Not a big deal, but interesting. We ordered beers and the server recommended the Shiner Cheer. I stayed with the regular Shiner Bock, but my girlfriend went with the Shiner Cheer. As the beers came out I was looking at the price list and noticed that the 23oz Bock was $8 and the 23oz Cheer (same brewery) was $14. Six dollars more for the seasonal offering. We didn't say anything about it since the prices were there in plain sight, but raised some flags since the expensive beer was specifically recommended. When it came time to get a second round, the server asked "Another of the same?". We pointed out the huge price difference and said a different beer would be chosen. He then said (smirking) "If I knew that I would have tried to sell more this week". Not the reply we had expected. It seems like they may get rewarded for selling a dramatically more expensive beer. Ultimately our food order was taken and when the food came out we had been there for about an hour. The club sandwich and tots I ordered were room temperature, and my girlfriend's burger was actually cold. Her salad came out with the burger, suggesting that all of it had been sitting ready for a while in the kitchen. We mentioned this to the server and manager and the issues were attempted to be offset by a discount and some coupons for a future visit. I'm not sure when we'll attempt another visit. It may have been an "off night" for the Drake's team, which happens. But the beer price issue is...
