I made a reservation at Fahrenheit for a party of 6 to celebrate a 50th birthday.
Upon arriving for our 6:00 PM reservation, we were taken to a booth that clearly was designed for a party of 4. 5 people would be stretching it; 6 people was very uncomfortable. We asked for a larger table, but none was given.
Our server came to get our drink order and asked if we were celebrating anything. We informed him of my husband’s birthday, to which he stated dessert would be on the restaurant. After placing our drink order, we waited 15-20 minutes to get them.
We reviewed the menu and when the waiter came back, we started placing our orders. We ordered our appetizers, salads, and main entrees all at the same time. Our waiter told us he would space out those items so everything didn’t come at the same time. I decided on umami ravioli, a chopped wedge salad, and the grouper special. I asked if the meal came with any sort of potato and the server said no, that it came with vegetables. I saw they had Fondant Potatoes as a side dish, so I ordered that to go with the meal.
While waiting for our food, we ordered more drinks, which resulted in another 15-20 minute wait for them.
Overall the meal was ok. Everything was brought out spaced apart as the waiter said he would do, but the time between them was rather long. The umami ravioli was not worth the $18 price; it consisted of 2 raviolis. The chopped wedge salad was big enough to be split with someone. When my entree came, the grouper was served on top of mashed potatoes, not vegetables as I was told it would, and I was given the Fondant Potatoes I ordered on the side. Sadly, the grouper was just ok and the Fondant Potatoes were raw. At this point, we had been at the restaurant for 2 hours.
We finished our meal and the waiter came back and asked us if we would like dessert, to which everyone said yes. He left us to review the menu. About 10 minutes later, he came back and informed us “the restaurant would like to buy our entire table dessert, but we would need to eat it upstairs on the rooftop because the manager wanted our table because they had another reservation”. We expressed our displeasure with that and said no, if we couldn’t have dessert at the table we reserved, then we wouldn’t be having any. He informed us it wasn’t his decision, that he was embarrassed to even tell us we had to move, and that it was a “company policy”. Looking around the restaurant, there were several open tables in the main dining room.
Our waiter gave us our checks at this point. Combined, the 6 of us spent just under $1000 for dinner. Realizing how much we spent and being asked to leave our table for dessert really angered our entire party. My husband called the manager over and expressed how upset we were by this. The manager tried to play stupid with us and said he didn’t know there was an issue because he just got there. My husband told him that was a lie because we saw him walking up near our table for the past hour and had even made eye contact with him. Knowing he was caught in a lie, he said he would have a corporate manager come over and walked away.
The corporate manager came to the table and you could tell she had no desire to hear our complaints. She blamed the waiter, then she blamed the other manager. A friend of ours told her it was obvious she didn’t care that our experience was so bad because she was standing there with a smirk on her face. She made no attempts to make anything right or even accept any of the blame.
We are not the type to complain in restaurants. However this experience was so bad, we felt it important to express our issues to management and do this review. We understand the struggles with opening a restaurant. However this restaurant was already established, just moved to a new location. So many of the issues we had should have been worked out in the previous location. We looked so forward to this meal and the restaurant and were left so sadly disappointed. As huge supporters of our local restaurants, it saddens us that this is one we...
Read moreWe visited Fahrenheit with another couple as part of Cleveland's Restaurant Week. We chose our three courses from the prix fixe menu. We started with two orders of the wings, an order of the peppers and an order of the "nachos". The wings were meaty with a cooked but not crunchy skin. The sauce was not overly sticky with more of an oriental flavor than BBQ and sprinkled with sesame seeds and scallions. The nachos were crisp not greasy potato chips covered with typical nacho toppings minus the meat. We opted to have the scallions on the side since I am allergic to chives and scallions. These were good and I'd order them again. The peppers were also good- great combination of sauce, peanuts, roasted peppers, light sauce, etc. Watch out for the small peppers in the bunch! They may be small, but they pack the heat! The asiago bread was very good. Soft and warm on the inside with just the right amount of crispy crust on outside. The olive tapenade spread was also good with the bread. I did not try to the chive butter, but it looked very fresh and I'm sure would be tasty spread on the warm bread. Our server did caution us about the chive butter not being recommended for whomever in our party requested the scallions be on the side due to allergy. For our main entrees, we ordered two of the pork tenderloin and two shrimp linguine. The linguine dish was good, not great. The sauce was light and creamy with tasty mushrooms and fresh, perfectly cooked pasta. The shrimp while fresh were served in the dish with the tails on. This would normally be fine but the lighting is so dim in the restaurant that you cannot clearly see this against the lighter colored pasta dish and sauce so both of us who ordered this dish ended up with crunchy shrimp shells in our mouths- not exactly the experience we were hoping for. I tasted my husband's pork dish and it was good but the sweet potato base seemed to overpower the tenderloin. I commented that it seemed more like a Thanksgiving dish and all in my party agreed. It was very tender and tasty, but it left me wondering what the dish might have been if a different potato had been used as a side so that the pork took center stage. We finished with two of the chocolate cake type desserts and two blueberry waffle bread pudding desserts. My bread pudding was dense but not so much so that it just sat in my stomach. It was served warm with a light sauce puddle of blueberry and cream and a crunchy crumble on top. The chocolate cake was very chocolatey and served with a light ice cream and whipped cream side as well as strawberries. Both were good and we would order again. The highlight of the meal was the pitcher of the blueberry lemonade drink we ordered. It left us wanting summer to start immediately. The lemonade base was mixed perfectly with Three Olives Berry vodka and fresh blueberries sprinkled in then served in a beautiful glass pitcher. The only change we will make next time is to ask for half the ice amount in the pitcher and accompanying serving glasses. The fresh blueberries were wasted because the were trapped in the large amount of ice in the pitcher. We will likely return this summer for this drink and some sipping on the cute patio out front. Even with the prix fixe menu of $33/person, our bill was $116 with tip. We all left wondering if we would return for a full meal. The decor is nice but others in my party commented that the lighting in the back raised section where we were seated could have been turned up just a hair. We were left using our phone lights to read the menus for the first time ever, made us feel really old! Overall, I'd recommend Fahrenheit. It was clean, fresh food, good menu/drink choices and great service. I'm not sure it will be at the top of our choices though when making a decision on where...
Read moreMy husband and I hosted a rehearsal dinner for 35 people at Fahrenheit in Tremont on September 16, the night before our son’s wedding. Our party had a private room, complete with our own bar and half of the patio for our use throughout the 3 hours of our event. We live out of state as did most of the wedding party, so it was important for us to be able to hold a fun event that helped to showcase on of our favorite cities. Fahrenheit did not disappoint. The food was fantastic, and all of the attendees raved about every aspect from the cocktails and appetizers to the main course options and dessert trays. We selected our menu ahead of time, and chose an abbreviated menu. We started with Black Truffle Meatballs and Cleveland Nachos, both of which were huge hits with our guests, most of whom were visiting Cleveland for the first time. Our salad choice was the Mixed Greens. It was simple but the Miso Dressing was the perfect addition. We offered 3 dinner selections: Lobster Mac & Cheese, Strip Steak, and Sweet & Sour Salmon. Judging from the reactions of our guests (and many clean plates) everyone was happy with their menu choices. Each entrée was presented in a generous portion and every item was seasoned to perfection. We had a couple vegans in our party who were able to obtain alternate selections that accommodated their preferences. Our private party was given the option of offering petite dessert and pastry selections from a local Cleveland bakery. We were very happy that we chose that offering as our offerings included everything from mini cheesecakes to macarons to eclairs—and all were absolutely delicious. Service was exemplary from our bartender and wait staff from the time our waters were poured until we finished our last crumb of dessert. We were also fortunate to have Tiffany as our event contact throughout the evening. She was incredibly professional and catered to our every need as her friendliness and energy helped underscore what our celebration was all about. The restaurant itself is located in a trendy and energetic neighborhood in Tremont, near downtown. It’s situated in a beautiful building, with an outdoor patio that provides the perfect perch to watch all the activity going on around the area. I hear that they are moving the restaurant to a location in downtown in the upcoming months. I get it, but I wish they would also keep this location open as it gives off a great vibe. This is a very popular and busy restaurant, and we reserved our private event almost a full year in advance. I must note that our initial contacts with the catering manager, A.C., were less than encouraging. I am not going to provide her full name, but she was extremely difficult to work with, and obtain information from. As mentioned before, we no longer live in Ohio so we were trying to plan a large gathering via phone and email. Other than confirming our date, we had absolutely no contact with A.C. until close to six weeks ahead of our dinner. Fortunately, our gal Tiffany saved our sanity!! She conducted a “tasting dinner” for us ahead of time so we could pick our menu selections, and she provided wonderful suggestions for us to consider. She was spot-on in her guidance. We were so happy that she was our event contact the night...
