Honestly Iv been going there since they first opened and if you scroll down you’ll see my original review. I was a regular who loved the previous managers (sweet asian lady) and Mark. Unfortunately I havnt seen them working there in long time and the service has been pretty much declining. There is no host and the waiters basically bounce around before someone walks up to help you. I had a few encounters with one particular waitress that has a horrible attitude and point blank rude. I had actually called earlier in the day to reserve a table because we were seeing a show at 7:30 at the Playhouse. That same rude waitress is the one that took the phone call earlier and told me that it was fully booked. We still walked in because we live across the street at 6:45 pm and there was only 2-3 tables occupied. We got seated and the waitress did not wait on us and actually left the restaurant and took a stroll outside and then eventually when I called over some older man that we got acknowledged. The waitress continued to serve a table right next to us chit chatting and ignored our table. Never have I ever come across such a Rude waitress and I guarantee you she will be the downfall of this restaurant . Anyways, we are a big group and you guys have lost loyal customers. The place has potential but it needs proper management and staff training on how to treat...
Read moreCharming new sushi restaurant in Playhouse Square. Location is ideal for theatre-goers, but comes with the typical parking headaches of its prime location.
The restaurant itself isn't too big and likely fills up quickly on event days. You can probably get away with walking in but reservations are possible as well. A lot of the staff (all very friendly) seems to be Korean so despite the name, you'll actually find some Korean comforts like bulgogi and bibimbap as well. The laminated menu is the one you'll want to focus on if sushi is your aim. Use the provided marker to pick which/how many rolls you want and the sushi chefs will get working right away. I'd recommend trying at least 1-2 of those based on your fish/seafood preference and rounding out the meal with the raw sushi rolls in the first column that are more basic and VERY attractively priced.
Our food came out in a very reasonable time, though the restaurant also wasn't too busy that night. If you order a bunch of rolls, they come out on a nicely decorated wooden lazy susan so no one has to reach over each other in your group to get the roll they want. Of all the chef's and specialty rolls we tried, we couldn't pick a favorite and the quality was solid.
I'm only sad that they don't stay open later since it's easy to lose track of time when you're enjoying such tasty food in...
Read moreI’ve been working in Cleveland in for about 2 weeks. This sushi restaurant is the closest restaurant to us and about 6 of us would go almost every day. For the first week, no issue. Our waiter Jasmine was kind and quick as we had a quick lunch and needed to be back within the hour. Second week, a completely different story. We had a new waiter, who I assume is the manager but truly the rudest and dismissive person I’ve ever encountered. He would seem irritated when we walked through the door and would slam the menus down as we sat down. The first week, we were able to split the check between us no issue. The second week, he told us “no, absolutely not” and after we told him, we’d done it almost every day the week prior, he said “well I’m not doing that.” I could understand if they were busy but the restaurant was completely empty. He was just being rude for no reason. I won’t be back to spend my money where clearly I’m not wanted...
