Hanna Theatre — Attraction in Cleveland

The renovation of the Hannah theater is truly fantastic. The seats are comfortable. They are wide enough that you don't feel crammed in like sardines. They are spaced out enough that you feel like you can BREATHE. And you actually have LEG ROOM between you and the next row! There really isn't a bad seat in the house here. We went to see Gabriel Rutledge here and he had us laughing so hard that I think I pulled a muscle in my abdomen. Lol I couldn't stop laughing and I kept trying to breathe but it was hard and after a bit it hurt to try to get my breath and then that just made me laugh harder. It was a vicious cycle of pure merriment! One of the best nights of my life. Thank you Gabriel, and thank you Hannah Theater. Also, much thanks to Scott, who was so helpful to us after my Mom got sick towards the end of the show and needed help. Scott was SUCH a blessing. He really went above and beyond to help care for her until my husband could get out of the garage and come around...

The Hanna is kind of an underappreciated gem in Cleveland's Playhouse Square; it's small enough that every seat is a good seat and quite often playgoers feel like they're actually a part of the performance. The Hanna is the home of the Great Lakes Theater Festival, another underappreciated treasure. We've been season ticket holders for years and have never seen a "bad" performance. Their Shakespeare plays are always done with a deft hand and, although they always stay true to the original, they also always manage to make the plays entertaining and relevant to the audiences of today. And the GLTF core group of players includes incredibly talented actors like Lynn and Laura Berg. Attended a special Netflix taping of the David A. Arnold comedy special "Not For The Weak" . The show was awesome, the theatre was beautiful! I had never been in the Hanna, I always saw shows in the Ohio Theatre and Allen Theatre. The Hanna was so modern with wider seats, several comfortable VIP- style seating areas. I sat at the bar seating which is like sitting at a huge granite island! Perfect vision, with Covid anxiety I loved having space away from the crowd.
