I’ve been going to Cleveland Bagel since 2016 when they first opened their doors. I lived down the street, and was so excited to have a homemade bagel shop within walking distance. Now that I’ve moved out to the suburbs, I still frequent Cleveland Bagel a few times a month. Their bagels are delicious. However, their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in any establishment, ever. They are consistently rude, to the point that my husband won’t even accompany me there anymore. A bunch of surly late 20 to early 30 year-olds run the shop. The typical greet is, with a sigh, “any sandwiches?” For the life of me, I cannot figure out why everyone in there is so upset. Some examples of my experience there include, 1) when my bagel order was wrong, I had to rewait in line (at the request of the employee). To correct the order took over 40 minutes, and the response of the employee was “okay.” For a minute, I had to remember that it was not my fault that the order was made wrong. 2) If they run out bagels, be prepared to have to a customer (not an employee) let you know that they will be locking and slamming their doors early. 3) The atmosphere in the shop is wholly uncomfortable. The shop is quiet, there is no music, and I’ve never seen anyone there greeted by name. For some reason, the employees are under the impression that you, the customer, are lucky to be there. Additionally, as of late, it also has become the “Land of NO.” “NO PARKING,” "NO PETS" and “NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS” signs are scattered throughout the shop. They have removed all the seating and it is evident that this is a “take your food and get out” establishment. I see people just eating their bagels in their car, which is kind of sad after you’ve just paid for an overpriced bagel. This place definitely does not care about their customers, and it’s made clear.
While normally poor customer service does not bother me, the way that customers are treated really rises to a level that is unconscionable. I will continue to get bagels there only because they are the only good bagel shop on the west side of Cleveland. However, it is never an enjoyable experience going there, and I really don’t love giving...
Read moreBEST Bagels. Not just in Cleveland but in the WORLD. Everything a bagel should be with a side of hipster flair. I'm definitely all about this place. I've been a fan ever since they opened up shop! Delicious QUALITY and service! I came in Saturday, July 13th around 10:00am. As I find parking and make my way across the street then inside the cute little storefront there was a line almost out the door! Normally I hate busy places and prefer purchasing something when there's very few customers other than myself but these bagels are worth any social anxiety from a busy dining room. THATS HOW YUMMY THEY ARE! As I reached the front of the line I was greeted by a kind-blue eyed Emily, I let her know that I am vegan and also I gave a sesame seed and tahini (sesame seed paste found in hummus) allergy. As I place my order she worked with me alongside Kim who were very thorough and accommodating to avoid any issues regarding my dietary preferences and my allergy. All while maintaining a super kind and upbeat ordering experience! As I apologized for being a little difficult with my order I was assured by Kim that they are there to help me and that meant the world!! I ended up ordering a Rosemary Bagel with vegan butter and Pepper Jam! IT WAS GOOD! Definitely deliciously messy so grab those extra napkins you'll need 'em! You also might realize how did you ever live life with out this yummy spicy, sweet and tangy bagel combo?! I also ordered a small black coffee with room for cream they offer almond milk as an dairy free alternative which was okay. Soy or Macadamia nut milk pairs better with coffee but everything was still SO YUMMY! (Not gonna lie I did a little happy dance right in the middle of the store after the first bite) TAKE YOUR MONEY. Read moreMy wife and I have been coming here regularly for years and the bagels have always been top notch, and the service has always been the best part. The staff working here are the best combination of patient, friendly, and genuine that I've had the pleasure to meet. I feel obligated to point out that there are a lot of one star reviews that have appeared in the last day or two (as of this writing, 7/4/2020): These reviews appear to be in response to some posts made by the owner on social media reflecting his opinions on the times we're in, which the reviewers seem to disagree with. As a reader of reviews, you should be aware that this is going on and it's what's been motivating so much hate in such a short time. If you're truly concerned about the quality of the bagels, the cleanliness of the facility, or the friendliness of the staff, I can personally guarantee the following: in the hundreds of times I've been here, I've never had a bad bagel, never seen the place dirty, and never been treated rudely by the staff. What's more, if you think you can get a better bagel from Dunkin, then I would question your taste in bagels and encourage you to go patronize whoever you like, but harassing the lovely staff at Cleveland Bagel because you disagree with the owner's views is a pretty dumb...
