I pass several Pizzeria's in route to Neil's, some who do pizza well others who do sandwiches and/or dinners well but none of which I trust the full menu.
Most of their business appears to be from delivery and takeout orders, however I love the family friendly atmosphere within the dinning area. The service is attentive and unrushed and often those dinning in and picking up takeout reflects the diversity of this area. I was taught by my foodie family to take note of who patronizes local eateries (i.e. eat where the truckers eat) as that will tell you who is serving good food that won't repeat on you nor run threw you and at Neil's you will see truckers, construction workers, various LEO'S, firefighters, and EMS workers.
There was a time when I could find a good pizza within a few blocks in any direction regardless of where I might find myself in North Jersey but not anymore, as we have become surrounded by "pizza production facilities" run primarily by teens/young adults with no customer or food service training using brightly colored flashcards, a small kitchen scale and a conveyer belt oven to "Hand Craft" your pie.
But I digress, this post is about Neil's and not about the Henry Ford type "pizza production facilities".
Our primary order when no one wants to or may have forgotten to prepare Dinner is a large pie half mushrooms half meatlovers but we have ordered plenty of the items from Neil's and everything from the soups to garlic knots to the salads to the pasta dinners are always well prepared and delishious.
Ok I've rambled on enough but the bottom line is Neil's worth the trip or wait if you prefer to have it delivered (order it ahead of time and not when you're "starving " as they care about the community and are not gonna NASCAR it to you in 30 mins or less/I know it's hard to remember in this era of the microwave but good food takes time to prepare). My only complaint towards Neil's is the forks that they provide with the takeout/delivery orders, they are not up to the task of handling the massive lasagna dinner (my...
Read moreWas disappointed on last visit. Calamari wasn't up to par, as it was chewy unlike last time and they added a SERVICE FEE to a nearly $30 bill??? Really, very cheap to do that without saying anything. Lucky to notice on it receipt. So we're dropping our review to 3 stars. Hope that 90 cents was worth it.
Old review: We drive all around New Jersey and eat all over the place, and one of my favorite things to find is a good pizza place. Neil's Pizza is absolutely in our top five! The pizza here is delicious the way they have cooked the crust is so delicately crispy I'm delicious, the dough is cooked just right and the cheese is so delicious you could probably just put that cheese on anything and it would make it unbelievable! not only on our last visit was the pizza incredibly delicious the garlic knots and the calamari, which by the way is very hard to find cooked properly, was exactly what you look for in good calamari, no correct that great calamari! I am so glad that just one day I happen to be walking by this place and decide to stop and get a slice. When I stopped in that time the pizza was exactly as good as it was this time and it has been a while for me to get back in here oh, but I am so glad I came in again and this time with friends and family. if you're stopping in here, there is a small parking lot in the back of the building, has the last time there was no parking in the front. However I would walk...
Read moreFirst let me start by saying that I've been in the business for over 30 years, I have owned several pizzerias, and worked at 20-plus more. And those situations people like myself tend to have already acquired their likes and dislikes about small-town Mom and Pop pizzerias. I've just recently come to the area and have been frequenting here for the last several months and I can without a doubt say this pizza ranks in at least the top three of my life which is saying a very lot, and seeing as how one doesn't exist anymore and the other one is in another state this is the best pizza I've had in New Jersey since I moved back here 5 years ago. I've tried several other items on the menu and have not been disappointed by one yet and today I had a Cheesesteak so amazing that took me back 30 years since I've had one that good , including the ones I've made. In today's Rising food costs the prices are very reasonable oh, and I look forward trying out the rest of the menu items I have not...
