Title: Great Brews, Perfect Fries, and Good Vibes! Found a real gem of a HopCat in Utica recently! Stepping inside, you immediately get a sense of a fresh, modern vibe – clean lines, comfortable seating, and just the right amount of buzz without being overwhelming. It felt instantly welcoming. The beer selection was definitely a highlight. They had a fantastic range on tap, covering everything from crisp lagers and hoppy IPAs to some interesting seasonal pours. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and it was clear they take pride in their offerings. Whether you're a craft beer aficionado or just looking for a solid pint, you'll likely find something to love here. Now, let's talk about the fries – because they were seriously tasty. Perfectly golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. They were absolutely addictive and the perfect companion to the beers. Definitely don't skip ordering them! Adding to the great experience was the service. The staff were genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering, and happy to offer recommendations. They really contributed to the welcoming atmosphere. Overall, this HopCat location nails it. It's got the winning combination: a diverse and fresh beer list, truly delicious fries, a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, and top-notch friendly service. I was excited for this restaurant open! The one in Lansing was great, I had high expectations!

At first my hubby and I was annoyed, upon entering the restaurant. The hostess asked how many, we said 2. The host proceeded to take us to an area I would consider the closed in patio. Please keep in mind we walked by the main area with open seating to get this area, to be the ONLY patrons that would have been seated in this area at the time. My husband and I were flummoxed.

He spoke before I could and requested to be seated amongst everyone else! We then were provided a booth in the main area.

I would like to think that wasn’t intentional, but whomever is doing the seating should read the room.

Evelyn our waitress was great! She definitely made our experience memorable. Kudos to her, for delivering customer service with a smile and lovely attitude. The food came out in a timely manner, served fresh and hot.

I had the Steak Frites. Oh my goodness it was scrumptious and cooked to perfection. There was no fat on any parts of my steak. The sauce for the steak gave it another kick. I would order it again..and again.

My hubby’s burger was a double patty. Which he wasn’t aware of at the time of ordering. He ate as much as he could because it was so big. But he said it was delicious.

I have gone to this location several times and enjoyed it. This time, on 5/18, not so much! I ordered the ancho chili chicken bowl. It comes with corn, avocado, cilantro, red onion, tomato and chicken. My bowl had 3 small chunks of avocado and 1 of them was black and brown. It was mostly corn in the bowl. The chicken was minced and was about 2 tablespoons. The red onion still had the inside skin of the onion attached. The cherry tomatoes were cut in half and still had the stem. Absolutely no seasoning or attention to them. My bowl was topped with cilantro stems!!!!! I had ONE piece of the actually leaf. I ordered a honey bourbon coffee. When I received it, it was served hot in a mug! There is nothing on the menu that said it was hot and was a cup of coffee. I asked for a glass of ice and poured it over ice. Of course, that watered it down. This was the most awful meal I have ever had there. That terrible bowl was definitely overpriced at $15 with nothing but corn and rice!!!!!! When I complained to the bartender (I sat at the bar) she said I'm so sorry and get me more avocado and cilantro. When I got the bill, I had been charged $1.50 for "extra" avocado and .60 for "extra" cilantro! Mind blowing. I did not order extra. I simply wanted what I was already paying for.
