A relative wanted to stop here for dinner tonight. Wow! I know everyone has different tastes and expectations but this place is on a down hill slide. First , when greeted at the door, the owner told us to sit wherever we wanted, upon entering the dark and dingy dining room , we found the dining room empty; it was 5:30 pm. The waitress came to the table, did not greet us and seemed upset we wanted ice tea. Looking at the menus, I wondered when they had been printed as prices had been scratched out and a new price listed for many items. The menu has pictures that you order from; with no description of what is in the dish. I asked our waitress about 2 different dishes and she yelled to Diane, who was at the check out, what was in the dishes. Diane seemed irritated that she had to explain. I ordered ginger garlic chicken which I found out had water chestnuts and Chinese mushrooms. It was okay.. I could hardly taste the garlic or the ginger. Soup and egg roll came with the dinner. The egg roll was good, the soup awful. There was a funny smell coming from the soup and it was barely warm. I just didn’t eat soup. The rice in the fried rice was over cooked and gummy. Also not hot. My relative bought a carry out which was brought to her in a broken container that leaked all over the table. The waitress never offered to get her another container or napkins.
There is a sign on the door that says they were recognized as a top restaurant in 2007 or 2009. Can’t remember which but it’s been a while and from what I experienced tonight I can understand why there hasn’t been any awards or recognition. My relative told me that at her office they ordered from Wok Inn regularly. Can’t understand why, as it was not very good. There has to be better Chinese food in the area. Oh, please note I was visiting relatives from...
Read moreThis is the best Chinese restaurant ever. My mom and I will drive across town, even in rush hour traffic, just to eat here. I always get the chicken or beef lo mien and it never disappoints. I love the noodles in the dish, because they really absorb the sauce which make the noodles flavorful, but not gummy and soggy tasting. The beef and chicken is tender with the perfect amount of chewiness. I wish there were more restaurants that cared as much as they do about the food they serve to their customers. We were curious about where they get their noodles from and the very sweet old lady gave us an entire backstory about why the lo mien is so popular! The noodles are freshly made and wet when they arrive so the flavor soaks into them better- which is why theirs aren't gummy like other Chinese restaurants. And they are specially made in Chicago and shipped to their restaurant-and they aren't cheap noodles for the amount they recieve! Their professional cooks know what their doing, since every time I come the dish is perfect. I always eat in and then order another one for carryout, its that divine. This restaurant needs and deserves more customers. Lunch time the restaurant is usually dead and they need the business! Go for the good food, and don't judge the outside of the building, since it's not the most visually appealing. Seriously, you will not be disappointed by...
Read moreWe've ordered here right before they closed and they delivered to us though we're literally next door to them. That was cool and thanks for that!
BUT my husband and I were craving some Chinese food the other day, so we pulled in there. Pretty dirty and unkempt appearance on the outside. We walked in and the bar that's in front of the door had random stuff and junk all over it, it was dusty and just in general disarray. We turn to the left, to the dining area, and there was some guy/employee running around yelling on a cell phone- super unprofessional. To the left, in front of the dining area is a bar and some employee was clearly eating lunch there and left their food remnants ALL OVER the counter, on the floor, on the chair... there was even garbage sitting behind the bar. Like, it pretty much looked like a hoarder's restaurant. So, we sit down and I ordered a water and my husband ordered a coke. The waitress brought both out on a tray, but before she got to us she SNEEZED on our drinks and onto her hand and then "eagle-clawed" the drinks and set them down on the table. Like, seriously, that's "serving 101"- don't sneeze on the food and don't "eagle-claw" the drinks. If you've ever worked at a bar or a restaurant, you know exactly what I'm talking about. We literally left right after that. We will...
