Farmer Boys — Restaurant in Clovis

I'd always heard great things about Farmer Boys, but never thought to try it myself -- and wow, I can't believe I've been missing out all this time!

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly team at the counter. You can order there, or make it easy by grabbing a table and using their free mobile order app. The menu is broad and tempting, with everything from hearty breakfasts to fresh salads, sandwiches, and juicy burgers.

The restaurant is spotless and well-organized -- even the restrooms get an A+. The staff is genuinely friendly and attentive. Once you order, they bring the food right to your table, and they'll circle back often to check in, top off your coffee, or see if you need anything else.

The food? Absolutely fantastic. My go-to breakfast is the fan favorite: three eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. Everything was cooked perfectly -- crispy (but not burnt) bacon, golden hash browns with just the right crunch, lightly buttered wheat toast, and eggs done exactly right. Served hot, fresh, and paired with cold, freshly squeezed orange juice -- it doesn't get better than that!

What really sets Farmer Boys apart is the generous portions and fair prices. In today's world of "shrinkflation," where places like Denny's or IHOP serve less food for more money, Farmer Boys does the opposite -- quality meals, big portions, and prices that won't drain your wallet. Other favorites of mine include the massive Grilled Chicken Salad Bowl and the Natural Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger -- both delicious and satisfying.

They forgot to give me my juice. My fries were warm and solid, not fully cooked. My egg was made over easy, like I asked for, but are usually on the hard side. My toast was not even pretended to be toasted. Just 2 cold pieces of wheat bread with a big smear of butter on them. Bacon was barely cooked! Warm pieces of white fat.

When they make your food right, it's absolutely great. But I'm not sure they get the correct or the food cooked right 50% of the time.

For example, I ordered a BLT. All I wanted explicitly was bread, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. No mayo, no cheese, no avocado, please. It came through the drive thru almost exactly like that. Bread perfect, bacon, just crispy but not burnt. Lettuce and tomatoes so fresh they could have been picked that afternoon. Except for several dill pickles that were on it. When I wanted to return it, 100% uneaten, they said the BLT doesn't come with pickles. I definitely don't drive around with dill pickles in my car to ruin perfectly...

Food is good, portions are large. This is NOT a romantic date spot, rather a cross between breakfast & burger place. We were disappointed on this last visit as we ordered the salad that was supposed to come with avocado but we were told (at lunch time mind you) that they were OUT of avocado. The lady taking our order seemed upset that we wanted something they were OUT of !?! How were we to know?! She didn't apologize or offer a discount to serve it to us without avocado, started to get a little testy with us. I'm thinking to myself "there's a Neighborhood Wal-Mart within walking distance, does it occur to ANYONE working here to run over there and buy some?!!"
