Stopped in for a couple of beers after dinner across the street. The place was busy and the service was good. The menu l ooked really good. I haven't been here in quite a while and didn't know they started serving their own food. Everything looks really good .
(UPDATE 6/25/24) I decided to come back to the W.O.B. for dinner and a couple of cold beers last night. When we arrived around 5:30 or so, there were many people inside dining or drinking. The waiter came over almost immediately and asked what we like to drink and eat. We let him know we would need a few minutes to look over the menu and decide. I then ran to the restroom and came back. The waiter came over again and inquired! We let him know again that we needed time to look over the menu as I had been in the restroom. A few minutes later, he's back again. We then ask him what the soup of the day is. He says there is no soup of the day, only the French onion soup. Another waitress hears this and corrects him that they do have another soup for the soup of the day. Then my wife asks if they have persecco sparkling wine. He says he doesn't know and will have to ask. He returned and said no. We'll my wife look over at the cooler from 30 yards away and sees what she believes is the sparkling wine she asked about. She walked over and talked to the bartender, and he said it was what she asked for, only that it was pink. Now the waiter comes back, and I ask if they have a weissen beer on draft? He stands there with a blank stare and clearly doesn't know what a Weisen beer is. Again, he says, "i'll have to check. He returns and says "no." We'll I, in the meantime, had enough time to survey the beer list and see a Heffe Weisen listed. So I told him that me and my son will each have one of these. Guess what? They had this! The waiter clearly does not know what beer or wine is but is a waiter in a beer establishment. We ordered our food and it came out quickly and was very good. This young waiter had zero personality and energy and did not appear to be interested in serving or being at work this evening. He could have been having a bad day, but when you are a waiter or waitress, you have to perform even when you are not feeling it. If your day is that...
Read moreWe are new to Florida. We're exploring all the bars to find "our place". A nice, local, fun, friendly bar. We went during happy hour on a Thursday and it was not busy at all. When we walked in, two servers were standing there talking. I had to ask if we just sit anywhere? We wanted to try some new beers, and it took the server a good several min to just bring the beer menu. If she would've been super busy, I'm so understanding of that, but she was just standing there in conversation with the other server, and looking at their phones. Then she finally brings beer menu and goes back to talking. We decide which beers we want to try, and it again it takes her too long to come back and take order. When she takes order, we decided we better order food while she's there. I had looked at the menu earlier, and had my taste buds ready for some good house made potato chips. Unfortunately, even though I ate them, lol, they were mostly soggy. My husband had the chili and it was great, and the hot wings, which were good. He also got a basket of chips. His were a pinch better than mine, but still most chips were soft & soggy. But now, our beer glasses are empty, I'm looking around for our server, don't see her anywhere, I wait long enough, and I finally go up to the bar with our empty glasses and ask the bartender if we can get two more beers, we're sitting over there and we have a tab. He tells me sorry, he can't, we have to have our server order it! I told him I haven't seen her in a while and we'd really like another beer! I mean, I'm getting upset inside because we're at World of Beer and we're having trouble getting a beer! When I turn around from him, shaking my head in disbelief, there's our server at our table. I am not one of those rude, impatient customers. I definitely give it enough time. Right in the beginning, when we couldn't get a drink or even the drink menu, because she was busy talking and looking at phone, I knew. I have been in customer service for 30 years, including bar tending. I was very disappointed. Again, if the bar was slammed, I would totally understand, but it was not busy at all. This will probably not be...
Read moreBartender decided to give himself a 50% tip when I had put down 20% on my check. The manager had told me that I'd receive a full refund, I only received the difference in what I'd written on the check and what was actually charged. Upon seeing that I hadn't gotten the full refund as promised, I followed up with the manager and referred to the other google review from somebody else who was a victim of presumably the same bartender's scheme around the same time that I had. I was told that the bartender referenced in the other review no longer works there, which I find to be too much of a coincidence to be true. I was also told that there'd been an investigation into the incident involving my bill, and that it turned out to be a simple mistake. I don't believe that a 20% tip being turned into a 50% tip was a mistake. An honest man would've made that right instead of leaving it up to the individual who'd been affected by said mistake to fix it. It would seem that the staff feels that their service is so exceptional that they're entitled to a more generous tip than what was written by anybody who pays with a card since they can easily manipulate it, and the manager seems to be so desperate for highly skilled beer pourers that he will ignore any malpractice exhibited by his underlings. I'm sure there will be a response from said manager to this review in an attempt to save face lying about what was promised as a resolution to this incident. I don't plan on wasting more energy on this, when I had followed up I said this as I was going in to work (which I made the manager aware of so that he wouldn't disrupt me) and despite that I received a call from him shortly after because he obviously doesn't respect my time or wishes. I won't accept any further meager attempt to appease me following this review, I will simply never visit World of Beer in the Promenade at Coconut...
