The overall experience with Bole Ethiopian, was by far subpar. I ordered via Uber Eats, but contacted the merchant letting them know I’d be looking to cancel the order. The experience with Uber Eats was another story for another day. However, the restaurant staff at Bole Ethiopian lied and marked my order as completed/customer picked up, but never made my order.
My husband did visit the restaurant prior to them making the order, informing the owner that we no longer wished to wait for the order to be prepared as the wait time exceeded what was advertised on Uber Eats. They informed me, that in order to cancel my order I’d need to do it through Uber Eats. Not a problem. Uber provided a run around regarding cancellation. During the final conversation, they mentioned the restaurant marked the order as completed.
Surely, the owner knew that marking the order as completed would void out any possibility of receiving the refund as it appeared to Uber that my order was picked up. The owner then tried to make the argument that she would contact Uber in order to ensure the order was paid for, and I encouraged her to do just that. However, she knew that it was paid for the order, because her staff marked the order as complete on their end which triggers the payment process for a pickup order.
Did she ever call Uber? No. She did make the order and provided it to me in the end. Full priced meal, and still had to wait an extra 30-40 minutes for the meal to be prepared. Unfortunately, the experience was all around an inconvenience and how everything was handled is very much unappreciated.
The acts of the Owner and her staff was by far unprofessional and sketchy as they tried to get over on someone by lying and saying that an order was completed that was not so they can...
Read moreThe food here is alright. I have been twice and had the veggie platter both times. It is a large enough portion that two could share if you got an appetizer, or you will have some left to take home. The issue with this place, at both their old location and new, is the service. The first time, I had to wait almost an hour for my food, a veggie platter, and there was only one other customer in the restaurant. Last night, at their new place, it was well over an hour for myself and two others for two combo platters. After initially bringing us water, the server never returned. I had to get up and ask for water, our check and to go boxes. There was also a birthday party or something going on in their event room which is adjacent to the dining room. It ruined the ambience of trying to enjoy conversation or your meal. The last straw is their poorly lit parking lot, where we had to use phones to see to get down the ramp to our car because the parking lot lights are almost all out. Hopefully they will get it together because there are a plethora of Ethiopian restaurants in Atlanta with better service and equally good or better food. I know Ethiopian food takes a little longer to prepare than other ethnic cuisines, but I never have this problem in the...
Read moreDisappointed with the service and food. We were not greeted and had to walk toward bar to be noticed. Waitress took forever to show up, and restaurant wasn't even three quarters full. Dry sambusas, bland flavors, and warm hot tea. They also had one side of the establishment that was yuppie-ish, and the other more Ethiopian styled. The yuppie side received better and more frequent service than the side we chose to dine in. What's more? Thing was, that when our shared dish came, the waitress actually REMOVED the serving basket. Oh, and if you're looking for the traditional Ethiopian salad (tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and lemon (they use a vinegrette), ONLY choose the BOLE house special! The others have lettuce in them, even though the menu doesn't say so. Waitress would disappear for too long, no napkins, and they seemed to treat me as if I had NEVER eaten Ethiopian food and so, we should be satisfied with WHATEVER they brought us. I was attempting to give my family an Ethiopian dining experience. So much for that! If this is the same spot that was once in the tinier plaza just before that cemetery, they have fallen off EXTREMELY! Gentrification can cause serious...
