We got stuck overnight at Atlanta International Airport. This seemed like it would be an okay place to spend the night. That was an incorrect assumption. It was bad, it was so bad. Don't get me wrong. I have stayed in some really nice hotels and I've stayed in some hotels that aren't so great, but this one is probably the worst. During the entire check-in process, a loud, drunk and aggressive group was carrying on outside the little glass booth where you check in. That being said, there was a security guard present who was keeping an eye on things. We go to our room and It almost defied belief that it was an operating business. The parking lot is filthy, with both trash and literal dirt as well as being broken apart and poorly maintained.
The area outside of the room has literal mounds of bags of trash piled in a corner that have seemingly been there for quite a while. Looking deeper into the hotels " courtyard pool area" there were planters filled with dead plants. Piles of broken and busted up furniture, random filthy mattresses leaned against the walls and just a general aura of filth, decay and negligence.
It didn't get any better inside the room. The door was missing its peephole mechanism meaning that it was just simply a hole in the door where you could see in or out. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but the surfaces had plenty of cigarette burns and carried a heavy smell of smoke. The air conditioning unit sounded like an idling high mileage Kenworth. The carpeting which had been red was crushed and matted with filth to the point that it was black and shiny in some areas. The bathroom was as gross and dirty as at this point you were probably imagining it. There was no garbage can. At that point we got on the phone and began seeking alternate accommodations. Fortunately, there is a Clarion about a block up the road.
When we came back around to the check-in booth, the night manager just held up his hand before we even got a chance to speak, sadly, nodded his head and motioned for us to go around to the lobby door where the security guard let us into the actual lobby. We had to wait a few minutes to speak to him as a fight had broken out in the pull through area adjacent to the little glass check-in booth. While the security guard was dealing with this, a group of about five people had squeezed into the small booth and were taking turns screaming at the manager. They seemed to be with the group that was fighting outside. After a few minutes the guard came back in and their group eventually left. We still hadn't had a chance to speak, but we're at least now in the relative safety of the lobby.
The manager finally looked up at us and said you don't have to say anything. I'll start processing your refund immediately. Both he and the security guard were very gracious, polite and accommodating. That being said, it was still very difficult to get the refund issued to my credit card. It was only the credit card company and booking agency applying pressure to the hotel themselves that got a refund generated at all. (Upper management wanted to keep a portion of it despite what the night manager had done.) We did eventually get all of our money back but it took quite a fight.
The Clarion across and a little down the street was clean, comfortable and safe. Go there, go anywhere else. Spend a little bit of extra money and live through the night. Just stay far away...
Read moreOk, I wish I should have done my research before booking. I needed a room for one night only after moving out of my apartment. I had no choice but to bring all of my stuff in which I had about 5 big bins and several bags. As I was checking in, the lady at the front desk was not really welcoming nor friendly. She even saw me trying to load up my things onto the lodger and not even offer help since she booked my room up to the 3rd floor. Now let’s talk about the rooms!! Not impressive. The room looked dirty, ghetto and the TV in the room did not work. Some of the things even looked broken as I walked in. Not only my room, the whole entire place smelled like Urine mixed with bleach Esp in the elevator. Speaking of the elevator, I think it needs a lot more maintenance help because it kept getting stuck as I was getting on it. Oh and don’t even think about bring a lot of stuff on that elevator because that’s how it gets stuck. The appearance of the motel did not look appealing at all with a broken bent sign and a cracked window. OH and here it gets BETTER!! This morning, I wake up and get ready to start loading all my stuff again but this time out of my room of the 3rd floor. Soon as I brought down my 1st half of my things as I was going to bring it inside the lobby, a lady name Big Mama who was working in the office sitting in the chair with a friend and she yells at me saying “YOU CANNOT BRING THAT IN HERE!” I’m looking at her by saying “Why can’t I leave my things in the lobby?” in which I was refusing to leave all my belongings outside in an area that is consisted with dysfunctional people. I was so mad, annoyed and dissatisfied as to is this how you treat your paying Guest? I didn’t appreciate how she came off about it. Luckily, she did sat in the chair and watch my stuff as they had to sit outside while I grab my other half of my belongings. I give her credit for that but to not have my things in the lobby in which I’d prefer and be yelled at was so unnecessary. Then, elevator gets stuck again as I was getting my 2nd half of my belongings out the room. Overall, my experience with this hotel was not so satisfying! They were not at all helpful, caring nor professional. I know real hospitality when I see it and I even work in the field myself. As for the hotel, I think it needs a Lot of remodeling to do including that pool & elevator because the property is disgusting! Plus, the staff needs to be more courteous and helpful when it comes to Guests who are in moving situations. I will NEVER Ever book a room here again! I will be better off staying at a Hilton, Sheraton or...
