I recently had the pleasure of dining at a spot that’s quickly earning a reputation for soulful Southern cooking done right. I opted for two of their most talked-about dishes: The Slammin’ Salmon & Grits and Catfish & Grits, and I’m here to tell you—this place does not disappoint.
The Slammin’ Salmon & Grits
This dish is an absolute showstopper. The salmon was perfectly grilled with a tender interior that flaked apart effortlessly, while the exterior had a beautiful golden crust that added a subtle smokiness to every bite. But what really elevated the dish was the cream sauce. Rich, velvety, and bursting with flavor, it had just the right amount of seasoning to complement the salmon without overpowering it. The grits were creamy, smooth, and cooked to perfection—no lumps, just the kind of comforting texture that makes you want to savor every spoonful. Together, the salmon and grits struck a harmonious balance of savory decadence and Southern charm.
Catfish & Grits
If the salmon was indulgent, the catfish was pure, soul-satisfying comfort. The fish was fried to a crispy, golden perfection on the outside while remaining moist and flaky inside. It paired beautifully with the grits, which provided a creamy and slightly buttery base. The two eggs added a hearty touch, cooked exactly to order (I chose sunny side up, and they were gloriously runny). The biscuit deserves its own standing ovation: it was warm, fluffy, and just the right mix of buttery and flaky—a true Southern classic. Every component on the plate was thoughtfully prepared, making it a cohesive, satisfying dish.
Catfish Nuggets
The catfish nuggets were an absolute delight—crispy, golden-brown perfection on the outside, with tender, flaky catfish on the inside. Each bite had just the right amount of seasoning to highlight the freshness of the fish. But the real star? The dipping sauce. It was unlike anything I’ve tasted before—bursting with bold, tangy, and slightly smoky flavors that paired beautifully with the nuggets. The sauce added a unique twist that elevated this classic dish to something truly memorable. If you’re a fan of Southern-style comfort food with a flavorful punch, these nuggets are a must-try!
Service & Atmosphere
The service was as warm and inviting as the food itself. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, making sure my coffee stayed full and my food arrived hot. The vibe of the restaurant had that cozy, Southern charm with a modern twist—perfect for a casual brunch or a laid-back dinner.
Final Thoughts
Both dishes delivered everything you’d want from a Southern-inspired meal: bold flavors, thoughtful preparation, and that unmistakable sense of comfort. Whether you’re craving a lighter dish like the salmon or something heartier like the catfish, you’ll leave satisfied and already planning your next visit.
Highly recommend giving both dishes a try—you might just find yourself stuck in a delicious...

There were a lot of pros and very few cons on that first visit. My second visit brought no regrets. I decided to return with my husband, who is a foodie from his soul. We were seated immediately (thankfully, because this place pulls a consistent crowd). The hostesses and server’s and I can imagine the cook’s are all putting in the steps, Lol. Greeted with a warm welcome and genuine smile by the hostess and the server has been my experience both times that I’ve visited. My husband and I ordered a lot of food. As I said, my husband is a foodie so we had to try several dishes for him to gather what variety they were able to offer. We ordered pancakes, mixed fruit, bacon, sweet potato biscuit, cheese grits, cheese eggs, and fried green tomatoes. Everything was delicious! Our coffee cup stayed filled (thanks to our server), our creamers were just as we ordered. There was no issue with anything. We had everything that we needed. They checked on us periodically, the teamwork was phenomenal between the hostess and the server, which works to the benefit of the customer. I met the manager on duty that day, very pleasant and friendly and we took note of the gentleman serving those seated at the bar also being very friendly and engaging with his customers. The second experience succeeded the first one although the first one was good and brought me back again. I look forward to many visits at the Buttermilk Biscuits whether I am enjoying it alone or with family and friends that I bring along. Whether I am there for a single entree or multiple ones, Lol. By the way, my husband the foodie loved it! He could not even finish it all but he took it with him and feasted on it later that day. He will be back as well. Thank you all for a great experience. Special thanks to Chrissy and Annette! We would not have known about this place without them and they rock at what they do… and trust me, I would say so if they didn’t because my over 22 years of customer service experience would call it out, Lol. But these ladies rock! I can personally say that these two are an asset to your company. They consistently rock and have only impressed me more the second time around. Chrissy and Annette are to be commended for the work that O saw them do with my own eyes in taking care of customers inside and outside of the building. Thanks also to the organization for valuing customer satisfaction and for providing great customer service that has only gotten better in my two visits. Kudos to you all-Great Job!...
Read moreThis restaurant was highly recommended to us. We went to the server who advised that we had 30 minute wait. After 30 minutes we were called and seated at the bar. It was a party of 3. We immediately placed our order at 1240 pm( Shrimp and grits, 2 side orders of pancakes, grits, bacon and potatoes. Chrissy our server was extremely nice and professional brought us our Mimosas. We sat there until 145pm, still no food. Chrissy constantly apologized Finally after I advised that I am about to cancel my order and leave she goes to the back and tells the manager. At 2pm they bring out the 2 orders of pancakes, 5 minutes later the remainder of the food comes out. I had to add salt and pepper to my shrimp and grits (as they were extremely bland) I was only given 4 small popcorn and a bunch of grits and sauce for 22.00. So my daughter asked her if we could be compensated for the mimosas 14.00 for such along wait. She goes to the back I’m assuming to speak with the manager, Then Chrissy proceeds to tell us That she can take something off the bill is there any other alcoholic beverage that we would like because she would give it to us for free to which she did. When the bill came ( with a discount of 1.70) and the mimosas were not removed from our bill So this was questioned. Some guy comes from the back (with an outfit on looking like he was the cook with a bunch of gold teeth) asking what’s the issue to which was explained but then turned to Chrissy for her to remove the mimosas she replied that she can’t but you can. He then proceeds to give everyone in our party a difficult time. I was livid. 1.70 discount and a mimosas made with Andre’s Champagne for almost a 2 hour wait!!!. My party continue to express our disgust. I was livid I paid my check and walked out before I went to jail. I truly feel sorry that Chrissy has to work in this establishment. As she is a true jewel. We were visiting from Florida but never again. I do not and will never recommend this place to anyone. Oh and they had the nerve to say 5.00 off if you give a 5.0 review.🤔NEVER AGAIN!!!DINE AT YOUR OWN RISK!! POOR MANAGEMENT TO BE A BLCK OWNED ESTABLISHMENT😞😞😞😞WISH I COULD GIVE...
