In town to orient the piglet at UMD & saw a jerk joint so here I am...and I'm a happy pig, baby.
Had hoped for oxtail loaded fries but they were out of shredded, & the entree oxtail woulda been too big, so jerk chicken instead. Happy replacement.
So...solid jerk flavor...nice spice level. I could have asked for more but enjoyed what I had & forgot to ask for more heat 🤣 silly gluttonous pig!
The jerk has a touch of sweetness, just pumps that flavor...sorta unique in my experience, unique n good.
Gotta say great portion of chicky with a spot on ratio to the fries too.
Asked lovely Shanika for a dark n' stormy but dey got no parts, so washed away the sorrow w a red stripe instead. So bossmen... Stock your bar with goslings black seal n ginger beer muddle in a couple lemon wedges for Caribbean heaven...push it...it will pay off, I promise.
I came on a week nite, so thin crowd when I walked in. So I thought what puts people in seats better than people in seats?...and parked my squiggly & bellied up to the bar.
Now with fries demolished bodies have been drifting in filling up chairs at 9 on a Wednesday...while college is STILL on summer break. I can imagine it with school in session.
The place really has potential to punch up...more Shanika, fill the keg cooler, add a ska band in the corner & I bet this joint is jumping during the school year...
In the meanwhile patronize jerk at nite, you'll be happy you did. Gluttonous gives it 5...
Read moreFirst visited my son told me about it. So on Sept 7 I decide to walked live down the street from Jerk At Nite, College Park location.
My son love this place but wish he told me how spicy food.
Walked then the guy acknowledged me coming in along with helping me to choose my food. Helped me along to see what I wanted.
He said no oxtails so I decide jerk chicken, rice beans and cabbages and Coco bread. $21 gave tip came to $26 something.
But when I got my food look good but only issue I had was them putting all my food in this small container. Coco bread was extra thick and hard.
Cut piece to taste nothing like Coco bread. Taste the food get a lot of rice with beans but the cabbage you get little and even spicy.
Please stop putting all the food in one container all over the place and running cabbages.
Taste a little and all the food was spicy I couldn’t even eat it to hot 🥵 was very disappointed if they would have told me salt and spicy 🌶️ I would never ordered it.
Throw the coco bread out must say I had better was thick bread and hard.
My son told me about the MC but I am not eating nobody MC, if it to spicy like my food was no thanks.
Place nice and clean but I would never go back too spicy for me. I never had high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Would if I keep eating from there.
Warning: Everything is spicy bold red.
Nice poster menu on the floor in corner but not good for a person that can’t have salt or...
Read moreI recently visited Jerk Nite in College Park, MD, and my experience was quite mixed. First, I found the parking situation to be challenging, which made getting to the restaurant a bit . As of early February, the restaurant is open for dine-in, which is a plus, but my overall experience left something to be desired.
I ordered the jerk box with mac and cheese and Rasta bread, along with curry chicken served with white rice and cabbage. While the jerk box had promise, the Rasta bread was just a slice of Wonder white bread, which felt a bit lackluster. The curry chicken was unfortunately a disappointment; it was fairly dry and lacked the rich curry sauce I was hoping for, as they had run out by the time I ordered. Although the seasoning was decent and the side of plantains added a nice touch, it couldn’t fully redeem the dish.
The most disappointing aspect of my visit was that all the food was served cold—less than room temperature, in fact. This significantly detracted from the overall experience, especially considering the restaurant was quite slow.
While I appreciate the effort of this new establishment to create a vibrant dining experience, my visit was not as favorable as I had hoped. I genuinely hope they can address these issues, as the concept has great potential. I may consider checking back in a few months to see if improvements...
