Everyone has raved about Bada, so I finally made time to try it for myself. I enjoyed the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendly wait staff. I found the prices to be a bit high, but the quality of the meal was on par with the price.
I was curious, however, as to why Bada always seems to be hiring. I think I found out why. When we checked out and asked to tip the sushi chef separately from our server, we were told that his tip is 15% automatically. So, if we tipped 20%, the sushi chef receives 15% and the wait staff receives 5%. Could this be the reason for the high turnover at Bada?
I hope that the management is paying the wait staff a living wage being that their tips are so low. There are enough sushi places in town that I don't necessarily have to choose Bada if I don't agree with their business practices. But overall, I am glad I tried the restaurant. My food was delicious (except for the uninspired salad and miso soup.) I had a spicy salmon hand roll and a veggie sushi with fried asparagus. My husband had teriyaki noodles - and the serving was literally as big as his head (see the picture for a comparison!) It was a nice dinner, but not spectacular. I love my neighborhood Chinese/Thai/Sushi restaurant and will stick with it as my go-to in the future. Bada was nada for me.
Pros: Fresh food, clean place, friendly wait staff, huge menu - 3 of them to be exact (lots to choose from) Cons: Lack of ambience, expensive, seemingly high turn-over rate, huge menu (a little...
Read moreI realize this was mother's day but the experience was still terrible despite that. The server is answering the house phone at our table as she's taking our order. An hour and we only had appetizers served. My wife had her meal served a half hour later. Mine was "next up". The table should be served at the same time. Another 20 later and I've had enough. I call for the check. All I've had was 2 cups of tea, salad, miso soup that tasted fishy and half an appetizer I shared with my wife. After I say I've cancelled my meal lo and behold it arrives at my table with the bill for the full amount. I say I am not paying for this as I've already cancelled it. Instead of apologizing or comping it they just take it away. They say "it's mother's day". I tell them I realize that and I have been here when they have been busy but I have never had to wait like this. They did remove the charge. Many items are now off their menu. It is either crossed out with marker or masking tape. Where the old prices are crossed out it is easy to see that some items have gone up by $5. Overall what used to be a happy outing is now a place I will no longer return too. There is no longer a children's menu and the sign on the door says they are only open...
Read moreThis place has really good teriyaki bowls, it has great sushi also. The reason I am giving it two stars though, is bc each time we go, they are NOT packed but they are way too under staffed. They take almost 30 min to ask What you want to drink and to bring it out is another 10 min. We always know what we want right away but we have waited over an hour into our wait there to get our food. We continue to go bc it is so close to our house and the food is pretty good. But this has happened too many times So I am writing this review. This last weekend when we went they completely forgot about a sushi and a entree meal. And when I had asked about it if it was still coming out, the waitress said “are you sure you still want it? You already ordered a lot of sushi.” First of all , it was 7 rolls sharing between 3 people(which we only got 6 of those rolls) And I’m paying for it so it doesn’t matter whether I ordered sushi beforehand or not. It would be smart of the business to take care of its customers and let them know ahead of time that they are backed up before...
