I gave 1 star because I am unable to give any less; my experience was awful here. This was on Sunday 7/18/2021, between the hours of 2030 and 2100; I'd say about 2045. The atmosphere was pleasant when I came in; it was just for a couple pints. There was a long line, of what appeared to be a group of teenagers and a few adults at first glance. There was also a short wait, which I don't mind at all.
An associate approached the register and I greeted her, and her response was short and unpleasant, even as she gave a forced smile. No big deal. I asked her if she honors the military ID and she said "no, but thank you for your service"; also fine. However, after paying for my ice cream, she tried to rush me away from the register. It was honestly a bit surprising. I then asked for a bag, she said sure, and chucked it at me. Overall she said the right things, but definitely not in the right tone.
I'll assume the best-case scenario that this associate was having a bad day. That said, I'll also say that it's not a good look to do that when I'm clearly the only African-American (or masked person) in the store. For the owners of the store who may (or may not?) read this review, I also understand the proverbial "he said/she said" situation. Any surveillance you have at the store will clearly show my polite attitude, especially upon leaving the store. It's sad that the store on Flintridge and Academy closed. Read moreI understand this location just opened, and are understandably still getting ducks in a row, but the service we received was deplorable. The drive thru is too short for more than one car without blocking cars into parking stalls, and access to businesses. There were visibly only 2 employees in the building and only one was in uniform. This was a Friday night just after dinner time. We waited in the drive thru for beyond 25 minutes, with only 2 cars in front of us, the first of which was at the speaker when we joined the line. When we eventually reached the order speaker, we were asked to hold. Ok. We waited another 5+ minutes to order. Ok. We wait behind another car at the window. Ok. Once we finally make it to the window we were asked our order again because no one actually took our order down. Several of the flavours we asked for off of their menu board were out stock. The banana split my husband ordered looked like a child’s vomit, with a complete lack of any sort of craftsmanship or care given. The young lady who served us was somewhat rude. Read moreI made a mistake and didn't place my order online the night before because it said it wouldn't be ready until 9pm the next day. I walked in within 10 minutes of opening to attempt to talk with the cake maker. Knowing they would have made the cake today based upon my online order the night before, I was attempting to ask if it's possible it would be ready before 9pm. The maker was unwilling to have a conversation, saying it's a 24 hour policy. When I attempted to clarify I was told that even if she only had 2 orders to make today she would not make my order until tomorrow because the store has a 24 hour policy in which she is not able to make a cake the same day it is ordered, no matter the availability. Without arguing, I attempted to clarify the logic in the policy and ask for forgiveness but again, was not given an opportunity to ask only being told No, the store has a 24 hour policy and she would not make my cake no matter what.
