I was driving through with my boyfriend and Mom, just coming down from Pikes Peak Mountain and wanted a bite to eat. It’s our 3rd year coming to Colorado and we’re from Chicago so we’re always excited to try something different. Today we were feeling Mexican and found this quaint little taco place and stopped on by. I ordered some steak tacos and was rather disappointed with how many fatty hard chewy pieces I had in my taco. The sauces were also bland as well. I asked my boyfriend to ask them for the spiciest tamales they had. They were out of chicken so we went with pork. Maybe it’s because I’m Hispanic myself but they were mildly spicy at best and had more maize than meat on the inside. I haven’t been able to find any good Mexican food here so I’m hoping to find a better spot. This place is good if you’re hungry but if you want real authentic food, it just didn’t hit the spot for me.

I was in the mood for tamales. I had gone by this truck many times. So I looked up the reviews and they were all pretty good. So I gave it a try. I wanted pork tamales, but they didn’t have any. They only had chicken and chicken with jalapeños. So I gave those a try. I ordered the tamale plate. I got one of each. The tamale plate also came with rice. First the tamales had no chicken in them. The one had a little bit of cheese on the inside and the other one had a bit of jalapeños and a little bit of cheese. They were covered with a ton of cheese. I was not very happy. I had taken the cheese off the top. The masa was good, but I was disappointed if I had not been so hungry, I would’ve not eaten the tamales. The rice on the other hand was horrible. It had a weird flavor, and it was very very salty.

We got the burrito, and it’s hands down the best burrito I’ve ever had. We’ll be stopping by any time we are nearby from now on! Edit 1 year later: We really love this place. Our favorite is the pork smothered burrito with green chili. We have had other items, but they aren’t as “WOW” as the smothered burrito. We are moving, and this is 1 of 2 places that we will really miss. The only issue we have is inconsistent hours. It’s hard to know when the place is open and not. You can’t just call because he doesn’t answer the phone. We’ve driven there (20 min 1 way) a few times for it to be closed which was a real bummer.

Overall I was disappointed in this particular truck. I ordered the breakfast burrito and give them an A+ on presentation and size. The burrito looked like the picture and was very large, even I was worried about being able to finish it. That is pretty much where the disappointment began. The Chili sauce it was smothered in was plentiful and spicy it lacked in flavor, spice without flavor. Which was just precursor to the general lack of flavor of the burrito itself. Think skillet potatoes wrapped in a tortilla. Lots and lots of potatoes it was a challenge to find any meat. I was overall disappointed. However, if you like plentiful food without much flavor this would be the...
