I decided to give a new place a chance despite the reviews, And let me just clarify that the only reason I even gave them a star is because of them being Kind towards my son And they let him sit next to me. I don't even know where to begin. Everything seemed fine until the acrylic application, Thi Le, an older man, did that part. I feel like it's worth mentioning there were several comments made by him about my desired nails being very aggressive and claw like, making jokes about it. That's fine, I can laugh along with it, but that was the first odd thing. At first he was using the sanding band On the nail drill properly, Using it to sculpt my the acrylic. Then he started Pressing down with it way too hard and was moving way too slow. Which caused A very intense burning sensation especially on the top of my middle finger on my left hand. When he did that finger it hurt so bad that For the first time ever, I had to yank my hand away and yelp out of the pain. I've never had that happen to me , no matter what Nails salon i've been to. It even made Thi Le jump back. From there it just got worse. I'm working towards getting my license to be A certified nail tech, And with that being said, I'm Very aware of the tools that should be used on the cuticle area. There are Bits for the nail drill that are meant for skin and cuticle work. She used the (used) Standing band bit on my cutbulls and gouged me on three different fingers. I'm not talking simple nicks, I'm talking deep cuts that are still Breaking , open and bleeding almost forty eight hours later. He knew the pain he was causing, He knew That I was bleeding, He acknowledged it several times. At one point he asked me if it was hurting and when I said yes he dripped cuticle oil onto the open wounds which he still hadn't cleaned nail dust off of, And firmly rubbed the nail dust and cuticle mixture into my bleeding Cuts. Then when he asked if that was helping, And I told him no, he Is dripped some sort of green liquid on to it that i'm not sure what it even was. Oddly enough, it actually did help with the pain but I have no clue what it was. Then he realized after doing all the shaping That that the exact design I showed him utilized Dip powder for the ombre And informed me that miss kim would be finishing my nails with gel. She tried stamping the black on it first which wasn't working because it was on a shiny and smooth base. I tried suggesting using a matte base/top coat first and then stamping on the black because It should work much better that way but she didn't understand what I was trying to say and suggested doing this smokey/inky look instead. And honestly I actually really don't mind it. I'm not even upset about the design. What i'm upset about is that miss kim saw the bleeding and damage to my skin And not only did she continue to Rub in massage more cutical oil Into the wounds very firmly After finishing the design, But Didn't offer any kind of discount or at least an apology when I went to pay. I even found it in me to still tip and she just tossed it to the side and yelled something in another language which Prompted Thi Le to yell "thank you" to me. I was shocked about the whole experience and unsure of what to do. I at least expected her to say or do something about the whole ordeal discreetly when I went to pay. I decided to leave as it was closing time for them, right around 7 on the dot. Figured I'd take the night to think on things and get some outside opinions from coworkers and other nail techs. I ultimately decided to go back and try talking to Kim about it all, to ask for a refund. This is part 1, look for part 2 in the comments of this post. I'll also be posting part 2 as...
Read moreI have been going to this salon for 6 years, obviously not during the time they were closed after the fire. Service prior to the fire vs after is drastically different. Since reopening, the nail techs are all older gentleman, usually friendly though they do not seem to speak much English.
I went yesterday for a pedicure and can honestly say it was the most painful pedicure I have ever received. The nail tech that I got was new to me, I had never seen him there before. He did not seem to have a lot of experience and the finished product supports that assumption. I had already removed the old polish so into the water I went to soak. He exfoliates one foot, then drops the pumice after starting on the second. He doesnât just get a new one, heâs just done I guess, no exfoliation for that foot. He cut down the nails and set to buffing with a nail block and just stayed in one one place for way too long. I could feel the edge cutting into my skin below the nail and I started wiggling my toes. He came back down to earth and realized what he had done, quickly pressed on it with his thumb and gave me the first of many stupid smiles. He shoves the foot back into the water and proceeds to do the exact same thing to the other foot. I stopped him before it was as bad but still very painful. Then he files all the nails down to nubs, and sprays acetone on the feet. I yelped and about jumped out of my seat, he literally got up and left. I quickly used the washcloth to dry the acetone off and stop the burning. He comes back and sets to trimming the cuticles like they owed him money. I know itâs not a pleasant thing but I have never had to stop a nail tech mid task. I would jump or squirm and it didnât matter, he just kept at it. I finally put my hand on his hand and told him to stop. He went to apply the polish and after he was done had to go back and file more because the edges were so uneven and ragged. Tried to apply even more acetone to the open wounds and I again stopped him.
This guy. No way he didnât know how much pain he had inflicted. He has the nerve to hold his hands around his finished work like heâs Vanna White and give me this grin, nodding for approval. Unbelievable. Today I canât wear shoes or socks, the sheets last night while I slept hurt when they touched the toes. I have tried to keep them clean and covered in neosporin hoping I donât get an infection.
I wonât bother going back to complain after reading other reviews of how they are treated. I simply wonât be back. Buyer beware. Maybe you get a better tech and have a fine pedicure, as I did for years. Lord help you if you get...
Read moreI walked into the store where only 2 employees were actively working. The store was seemingly pretty empty so I assumed this would be a quick in and out kinda deal. Little did I know I would stay there for 2 1/2 hours for a simple process. I picked out the colors I wanted and sat down in front of this lady. When I had came in I had wanted a very simple design for my nails. When I had brought this up to her she said that she could but for an extra $20 to an already $50 set. She prepared my nails, cutting them to shape, and putting on the acrylic. We had started up some small talk and in the middle of it she would start talking to another lady in another language so that I wouldn't understand her. Now, I wasn't sure if she was an employee as well but she wasnt doing any work leading me to believe she might be another customer. As the lady doing my nails kept talking to this other girl about me in another language so I wouldn't hear what they were saying, I did understand a few words such as "highschool" and "loser". The whole time the girl that was doing my nails was talking to this other girl, the other lady kept making faces as if she was mocking me. Very unprofessional. While she was in the middle of shaping my nails, a few more customers had entered the shop. I was asked to sit at another empty table while she helped someone else. I ended up sitting there for around 25-40 minutes while she payed no attention to me whatsoever. As I was sitting there, I looked down at my nails and they looked just awful. None of the nails were the same shape or size and they looked as though she was just aimlessly taking chunks off my nails to "shape" them. After the other costumer had left, she told me, "baby girl, I am ready for you now." Then had me sit back in the chair. She finally fixed the "shaping" she had done. Although it looked better, it was not the shape I asked for. I wanted a coffin shape and recieved an almond shape instead. Next, she moved onto painting my nails. Since I wasn't going to pay $70 for a design I could do myself, I settled for getting French tips. She carelessly threw on some nail polish and didn't even try to make the nails match, leaving some nails half and half while on others, the tip of the nail ended much higher. The results left me very unsatisfied and I went home to fix it myself where they turned out much better. I don't recommend this salon to anyone who is looking to get their nails done, the results will be most likely turn out better by just doing...
