First and foremost, the service while not exceptional was fine and the lady working was kind. Now, for the food, which is what brought us here. Despite my better judgment, I brought my family here and should have sterred away based on the one star (negative) reviews I read prior to coming here.
We ordered: Goyza-Served pan fried on one side and raw and doughy on the other. Also, the goyza was sitting in a shallow pool of oil on the dish they were served.
Ramen #13-Served with lukewarm broth and cold corn. The server offered to heat it up in the microwave. However, the pork belly was not cooked in a way that made it enjoyable to eat. The broth was flavorful, but the dish overall was lacking.
Bulgogi & Curry-Was served with overcooked (mushy) rice and the bulgogi flavor was one dimensional (sweet).
Overall, the experience was under whelming, especially for the priced paid.
I would highly recommend you NOT experience it for yourself unlike I did, and take heed to this and many other reviews.
If you happen to try this restaurant and have a different experience, I encourage you to share your experiences, good or bad.

I’ll start by saying the Poke Bowl options are choose your own adventure, or a Poke Bowl that is already crafted by the restaurant. I chose my own adventure, and so I can’t be too upset as it could have been my choices that affected my enjoyment of the Poke Bowl.
I added tuna, salmon, tobiko and crab to my bowl and they were all delicious and fresh tasting. Disappointed at the lack of Furikake for a Poke place. It wasn’t even offered as a side seasoning for those that want it.
We also tried the kimchi and that was not good and do not recommend. It had WAY TOO MUCH sauce left on it. Reminded me of the first time I made kimchi at home and didn’t know what I was doing, but hey, it could be right for you 🤷♂️
Lastly, we had the Spicy Chicken Udon and it was ok but wish there had been more spice and more chicken, but the flavor was good (not great).
The milk tea boba was enjoyed by my daughter and was made fresh when ordered.
I’ll try this place again and probably order a poke bowl from the menu and see if the experience...
Read moreThis review is for Menya Briargate. First the Pro's of this restaurant: Nice convenient location at the easy to access Briargate Parkway shops.
Con's: Price was a little pricey for the quality of the food offerings. For example, we had three small meals with a $50+ tab. If it was worth it, totally understand, but it really wasn't sad to say.
Also, weird policy on serving tap water with your meal. When we asked for water with our meals, the counter representative replied: "we are not allowed to serve tap water, you have to buy bottled water." I understand reasonable safety precautions with the Pandemic...but this is not one of them. Many restaurants have figured out a safe way to serve water (e.g. McDonalds, Chipotle, other Ramen / poke restaurants) to their paying customers.
Bottomline: Plenty of other Poke / Ramen places in the area to try out before Menya. I will not return until they change their...
