Used to be the family go to for “Mexican” food but has become a place where unethical business practices have taken hold. Starting with the food, portions are a nice size but taste is severely lacking with most beef dishes having an off taste likely due to tenderizers for cheap meats. Chicken was on the dry side but for a positive their fish and shrimp are pretty good considering location. Attentiveness to customers is ok they seem to manage on refilling drinks and promptness with the food but considering the hours of visit restaurant was also empty so perhaps that is conditional. Where the main issue comes is the blatant attempt to hide their self tipping. They take the card come back and if you do not carefully inspect receipt it has an additional 20% gratuity automatically charged. Now where the issue lies is not tipping for service as that is a separate problem for service work but that they add the tip, say absolutely nothing about them adding it, and give you a different receipt to then sign and add an additional tip. They are quite literally hiding the first tip charge when they process your card and then ask for a second tip. Extremely shady practice and makes the service regardless of how prompt and attentive lousy at best. It should NOT be allowed to self allocate a tip. (Picture included is of the processed charge placed inside the little holder they give you, but with all the other receipts like the ones you sign to confirm and normally add tip on the as well as customer copy on the right hand side or the side you normally would see opening the receipt holder)

Enter in under a massive chandelier into a colorful foyer, where you wait to be seated. Wooden highchairs are available upon request and situated around the restaurant, resting on top of blue and red carpeted floors. Black plastic booster seats are also available. Depending on party size, it seems, you will be seated in booths (wooden tables with red booth seats, while the booth backs are a flowered pattern similar to a style of curtains/bedspreads that once dominated design) or at a table (wooden tables with wooden chairs that have a red cushion). Sugar packets, along with standard salt and pepper shakers adorn the tables. A sign reminding you to social distance is still on the wall, within feet of the big screen TV and if you look up, the "middle" is designed to look like a courtyard, as roofs appear out of the wall on both sides, along with street lamps. The bar area looks like it could turn into a fun atmosphere, but was completely empty, the night I visited. Two baskets of chips, along with two medium (heat) salsa cups and two refried bean cups were brought to the table. Traditional Tex-Mex, but flavorful. The fajitas, sizzles and steamed more than any fajitas before and then meat rested on a large bed of onions and green peppers. Maybe next time we will have room for dessert!

Nothing wrong with the cleanliness or staff, our service was actually fine. But this has to be some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever put in my body. Pueblo Viejo has been mine and my boyfriend’s go-to restaurant of choice whenever we want to treat ourselves for the last year, and the other two locations were great. We made a special trip for this location specifically, and we won’t be doing that again. I’ll cut to the chase here. The good: It was clean, we didn’t have a wait time around 5 PM, and staff was attentive. The bad: How the heck can food be so dry yet so watery? In fact, how did they manage to use an entire bunch of cilantro and a whole onion and neither of those added ANY flavor to your (green) salsa? When the waitress sat down the bean dip, it was so watery that we were surprised it didn’t slosh out the side of the dish. The masa used for my tamale literally crumbled on the fork. Their rice had the same texture as that boxed minute rice. The red salsa we got with our chips literally tasted like marinara. I guess come here if you fear flavor. If not, literally any other location is leaps and bounds ahead of this one as far as that goes. I would rather eat On The Border, and it took me 27 minutes to find something that looked even remotely appetizing.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!! I would give zero stars if I could! This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced! I have gone here for years, but will NEVER go back! We placed a takeout order over the phone and when I placed the order I asked that none of our dishes have beans or pork sauce on them because we cannot eat pork. The girl confirmed they wouldn’t. Once we got home and opened the dishes, there was beans and red sauce with pork covering it all. We couldn’t eat any of it. I called to tell them and the girl admitted it was her mistake and yet they argued with me for 20 minutes! First, she argued with me and then she got another man on the phone who continued arguing. They told me that they would not refund the food and wanted me to bring it back. I told them I wouldn’t drive 20 min there and 20 min home to return messed up food the lady admitted they messed up. She even confirmed with the cooks that it was messed up. I asked them to refund the order and they kept insisting I bring the food back. I refused because it was their mistake and inedible for us anyways! Then, the man asked for my address and told me they wanted to come and pick up the food!!!! Are you kidding me??? I told them this was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard and the worst customer service ever! I also told them I would send pictures of the messed up food (again confirmed by them it was messed up) but that giving my address was a violation of privacy! I demanded to speak to a manger and was told one wasn’t available. I asked for the owner but was told he was in Mexico for two weeks l so I asked for his number to contact him and they refused. I then asked that he call me so I could report this and the man faked writing down my number. I am honestly shocked at this!!! I have eaten here for so long and will never eat here again!!! They handled this situation so poorly! I cannot believe they wanted to come pick up the food! Are you kidding!? Please find another place to eat and do not support this restaurant and poor service! They could care less about their customers! Find another mom and pop place that actually treats guests as...

Top-notch across the board! Our server was helpful and knowledgeable, but more than that he did a wonderful job of making us FEEL welcomed. The food was fresh...I mean it not only looked fresh, but tasted fresh. That means someone is taking time to pick out the best ingredients for our dinner, and then cooking it fresh and hot with the perfect seasonings. Not surprisingly, even the chips served when we sat down were nice and fresh. I have to say we thought the salsa was too spicy, but we're not accustomed to heavy/hot spices. Nevertheless, the did also bring a bowl of refried beans which were a perfect compliment to the salsa and gave the option for those like us who prefer something less spicy. The guacamole wasn't jacked up with tons of jalapeno (making it too spicy for us). I will admit that the guacamole came with two chips inserted into the top for decoration, and they evidently had been in there a while because they were a little soggy where the chip had been in contact too long with the guacamole, BUT the guac itself was tasty and fresh. The atmosphere was perfect for us. Nicely decorated, clean, with some background music which wasn't being played to blast out our eardrums! We like to have a conversation when we go out to eat, but often the noise from other clients or the music interferes with that desired option. I even noticed that they did a great job of spacing people out so that there was usually a table between places where people sat so you could enjoy some privacy. Finally, the food was well-priced. It wasn't super-cheap, and also not super-expensive. These people KNOW what they're doing, and have a good clientele because Price/Quality/Service/Atmosphere were all very well balanced. Probably why they've been in business so long. I told our waiter how much we liked the food, and that we would DEFINITELY be back for more. This will now be our go-to place to eat for Mexican food, and I highly recommend you...
