EDIT: You can read my original 5 star review below, however, this place is under new ownership/management and it has become depressingly altered. The ingredients seem the same and the look of the food hasn't changed, BUT one major change is that they no longer cook the meat when you order! The first time we went after new management, it was cold, which made it completely unappetizing. Then, after having to beg my wife into giving it another chance, hoping it was just an off-day the first time, it was tragically the same! You can tell from the temperature of the meat that they cook it before each shift and leave it in the table all day. At least have the courtesy to microwave it or something when it's ordered, right? But alas, the new owners thought it better to spend XX amount of dollars to invest in Columbia's hidden gem to ruin it through laziness. I guess they had money to waste. As of right now, we will not go back.
This place is unbelievably great! They put SO MUCH gyro meat in their sandwiches and it's sinfully delicious! The rice and fries are both amazing too! This is the first review I have ever written online, that's how good this place is, me and my wife go there like 3 times a week. And it's pretty cheap also. Best gyro in the Nashville area that I've had. Try it, you...
Read moreGreat food ! But the lady at the counter acted like it was a inconvenience to take my order. When Ice wouldn’t come out of the beverage machine she shouted without looking at me “get ice from the bin” I had no idea what she was talking about. When she delivered my food to my table she didn’t make eye contact , I said thank you with a big smile she lightly mumbled thank you with her back to me. Got on her phone and stayed on it the whole time I was eating , and she dropped about 15-20 F bombs while I ate , I learned she was the oldest of the siblings that worked there , she’s 29 about to be 30 in March , the young lady in the back was working while this woman stayed in a seated position on her phone . She discussed how she was not excited about turning thirty and how last year her sister and friends took her out but she didn’t want to go . Also about her recent trip to the beach and her father wanted to walk on the beach and it was cold. No reason I should know this much about this young woman . She also didn’t say bye or thank you as I left. Made me feel like I was an inconvenience. The only time so far I didn’t enjoy my experience at Pita Plus. All other visits are awesome! But this lady clearly doesn’t care...
Read moreWe're recent transplants from the D.C. area and were amazed tonight to find this great Greek place. My wife and I agree that the gyros (huge with delicious lamb and pita bread) and the baklava (homemade, flakey, nutty) were the best we've had anywhere. Also extremely inexpensive despite the high quality. I look forward to trying out their spinach pies.
The man behind the counter who took our order and served us was kind, knowledgable, and solicitous. The gyros came out fast and hot.
I gave it 5/5 for atmosphere, too, because it was clean, safe, cool (for late July), genuine and unpretentious. I know many differ with me on this point, but those five qualities are all I need to accompany great food and service.
UPDATE: Since the original review, we've been eating here just about every week. They are constantly experimenting with new menu items. They always get it right. A couple of weeks ago, it was a pastry with spinach. Tonight it was grilled chicken chunks in a savory sauce with feta on their great pita bread. No name for it yet.
Just a great experience with outstanding food. Our favorite restaurant...
