I'd heard great things about Rebel Dogs, so I wanted to try them out. The inside was clean, colorful and fun, with instrumental background music that wasn't too loud. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and accommodating to our order. The dogs themselves were delicious, as was the chili they served on the dogs. There's even parking in the back, which is often hard to find in some places.
I simply cannot get past the absurd pricing.
While the dogs themselves are a little high at around $7 for a single dog with various toppings (something I'm willing to pay when it comes to good food), what put them squarely in the "no" category for me was the combo price.
Getting slaw or chips and a drink should NOT add a full $5 to the price. If you look at their menu, that isn't even a combo. It's no different than the a la carte price, unless you're getting the bag of chips, which cost MORE as the combo than to order them individually ($4.68).
Maybe if they fix the obviously broken pricing structure, I'll go back, but I don't see that happening, which is truly a shame, because the dogs are really,...
Read moreVisited Rebel Dogs for the first time today. The shop is very cute and clean. The basic combo is about $12 with one hotdog, a bag of chips, and a drink. To get an upgraded side (baked beans, Mac and cheese, etc) it’s over $15. The food was good but $15 is steep for one hotdog, a very small cup of baked beans, and a cup of lemonade. I ordered a Carolina Dog which normally comes with slaw, onions and mustard. I asked for it with no slaw or mustard, add ketchup. I got my tray and headed to the car. I opened it up and realized there was no onion, lots of slaw, and mustard on it. I walked back and the owner kindly said she’d remake it and even offered me a coupon for next time. I waited for the remake. When I got the remake, it was just a chili dog, no ketchup or onions. By then, I didn’t feel like walking back a third time for a 2nd remake. I understand they’re new and probably still figuring out their groove of things. But to ask $15 for the tray and I’m still not getting what I ordered is absurd. I’d like to try again but will give it some time. Maybe...
Read moreMy son and I stopped by while in Columbia visiting on our way back to Aiken and I must say that the hotdogs were extremely delicious! The grill bun was an added bonus. These are gourmet hotdogs so please understand that these are made to order and will take some time so my order was correct. I love that the restaurant was cozy and clean! If you want a quick fast food meal this is not going to be an in and out experience but if you want one that Rebels against most hotdogs and I tried the turkey and beef options and they were both juicy and delicious- this is your go to. The only surprise I didn’t realize was that there was an up charge to get the mac&cheese and potato salad- or that the serving size was smaller that expected. The taste of the sides were DELICIOUS to say the least they were great and hit the spot. I would recommend going here if you love hotdogs and...
