13th Street Bar-Be-Que — Restaurant in Columbus

Ok look, I never do this but I'm upset about this overall.. So I only ordered from this location because the one in Cataula was closed. When I walked in no hi how are you or any kind of welcoming vibe but I digress...

I placed an order for the #1 special(10 chip sandwiches, 2 large chips, 1 gal. Tea, 1 bag of ice, and 4 cups.), 1 large side of mac and cheese, one large side of baked beans, and one large fry. 5 of the sandwiches were supposed to be slaw, pickles, and sauce on the side. 3.99 for a large order of fries but they came in same size container as the other sides.. The other location in Cataula gives you a whole togo container full... In other words, not worth 3.99 for the amount you get.The sandwiches still had sauce on them. The pickles and slaw were packed in the same container. I dont know why they wouldn't separate everything. In all honesty I was going to let it all go because I ordered around 6 and knew they close in an hour.. Probably just wanted to leave so they rushed(in no way an excuse but still). BUT what made me actually make a review was that when I went to pour some tea in a cup there was a huge fly. Over all with the 45$ I spent, I should have just went somewhere else that would atleast welcome me when I walk in the door, NOT cheer when they see it's a pick-up order. Also I didn't get the cups.. Just to let you know that I was treated very well when I went to 13th Street Barbecue this last time. I did not realize that the drive-thru was closed the day I went and if they were about to close I believe it was July 4th cuz it was a Wednesday and they were closing at 3. It was almost 3:00. this day I happen to have my dog Gizmo in the car with me and it was hot hot outside so since the drive-thru was closed I would have to go in but I went pulled up in front of the door and a server happened to come to the door and I asked her if I or called and ordered my sandwiches is there anyway I could pay for and pick them up at the drive-thru because I had my dog in the car and couldn't leave him in there to come inside and Order. She said that normally they wouldn't do that but she understood about Gizmo and so she asked me what I wanted I told her and she said I could pull around to the drive-thru to pay and pick it up. I certainly did appreciate that special customer service. Someone came to the door at the drive-thru and walked over to my car and told me how much it would be I paid and in just a moment they brought my food out. My mother went here for lunch on 04/15. She was the only African American in the building. After all the whites placed their orders. She walked up to the counter for the young man to acknowledge me and take her order. The guy at the counter turned away and ignored her for 20 minutes. Finally, a girl came and asked if he was going to take her order, he stated he "wasn't planning on it". The embarrassment or disrespect she felt had her in tears. After a few words with his co-worker, he went to the back to make my sandwich, which was odd cause he made everyone else food in the front. She throw the sandwich away as soon as she got home. Be careful when supporting local businesses as such, racism is still alive and well in the South and we learned that firsthand today. I'm very involved in this community and I will make sure this restaurant is exposed for their treatment towards African American.
