Black Creek Bistro — Restaurant in Columbus

I really want to like this restaurant, since it's a block from where I live, but each of the three times I've had food from here, it was bland or disgusting. I've had the salmon cakes twice, and both times they were way too salty - and I love salt. The risotto, on the other hand, was utterly flavorless. The straw that broke my back was the quinoa burger. It was the most disgusting thing I'd ever had from a restaurant. It was moist and shapeless, first of all; I popped it into the oven in a vain attempt to crisp things up. The flavor was maybe okay? I couldn't really say, because my taste buds were overwhelmed by the repulsive, wet texture. I cannot believe that the menu says other chefs ask for this recipe. Maybe so they can improve on it....

Good things: the sauces are always great and the fries are pretty good. But this is a pricey restaurant and I feel like I could get a more satisfying meal from McDonald's. To be fair, I've only ever ordered food to go here, so maybe they just don't care about my experience. But please, please improve, Black Creek Bistro - I want the food to be as impressive as it appears...

Went there for the first time. Apparently you need to make a reservation because they kind of frown upon walk in customers. A table was completely open and we had to discuss with the greeter whether they could take our small party or not. Food was kind of on the expensive side and the portions for some of the portions were kind of small, like the duck gnocchi. The appetizer we got was described as a fondue and we got instead cheese that we had to scrap from an incredibly hot serving dish. A girl in my party was told the wrong soup of the day and got one that she didn't like very much. The guy serving us said he'd give it to her for free if she didn't like it at least. Mostly older people and a good selection of wines. I doubt I'll be back...

I stopped her per the recommendation of a colleague. Really friendly staff who got me seated right away. I ordered a Caesar salad and a turkey sandwich. I was really excited for the salad but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I’m not sure if it was a fluke, but it appeared all the lettuce used was that last little white/light green/yellow part found at the very core of lettuce. Ew. The sandwich was ok but nothing to write home about.

With this said, based on all of the other stellar reviews, it seems like my experience was out of the norm, which is something to keep in mind.
