I am not a fan of Columbus, OH. My husband and I traveled overnight (7 hours) on an unexpected trip due to illness of my son. We are Hilton rewards members and requested early check-in so that we could drop our dogs and belongings at the hotel prior to arriving at Children's National. The hotel was able to get us into a room at noon which is greatly appreciated. This location is perfectly acceptable during the day time. Once night fall begins, so do the problems. Everything nearby has weird hours. I ordered a pizza at 7 pm and was immediately contacted by papa johns and they told me their drivers DO NOT DELIVER to my location after dark....what? So I had to go pick up my pizza. The parking lot wasn't full but it seemed all of the guests were on our floor. Every night that we stayed in the hotel (which wasn't many of our week long stay) there was a LOUD TV BLASTING 24/7. On some occasions is was on either side of our room. We called the front desk but only got relief one of the times. One of the rooms on the 5th floor was being used to house a child during the day time. He would run around, blast the TV and slam the bathroom door all day and at night that room which did not contain a guest would STILL have a TV blasting at FULL volume. At midnight I called the front desk and the staff member banged on their door and announced themselves and had to enter the room to turn it off. HOW CREEPY is that????? Staff was friendly Laundry wasn't too bad. $2 to wash and $2 to dry We check out tomorrow and so far, no one has broken into our car but signs are everywhere warning that it could happen. The usual rate is OMG, WAY too high. My husband and I couldn't stay at the Ronald McDonald house because we had dogs with us but next time we most certainly will be staying there. If you're in town for care at Children's National the rate is only $79/ night at this hotel. I called to make my reservation and actually started crying when I was asked why I was staying but THAT person failed to EVER mention the discounted rate. When I physically showed up, the front desk informed me that there was a lower rate for my visit and I appreciate their kindness. Really close to Children's.
My husband and I traveled to the terrible town of Columbus, OH under very unfortunate circumstances. We experienced noise disturbances every night that we stayed in the hotel. We stayed in town for a week. We slept at Children's several of the nights while my son was inpatient. We feel like we have been awake for a week. Why would hotel staff use a room NEXT to an occupied room as a daycare center? Why would the TV be left on 24/7 when guests are in the room right next to this daycare room? I have more questions than answers. If we would have been asked to pay the full price for this hotel, we would have left the...
Read moreThe staff was pleasant, however I was promised to receive a credit towards my final balance, which was not reflected in on my receipt (folio).
When we arrived, we noticed that the room was not cleaned and the suite did not reflect what the photos advertised online. The internet/wifi connection was bad. We couldn't watch our shows due to the constant buffering.
The bathroom door was broken and off of the hedge. We could not close the bathroom door. My husband informed the night staff and she stated that it wasn't broken, we just didn't know how to close it properly and that sometimes people had similar issues, when in fact the door was broken!
The next morning I asked if I could speak with a manager and I was told that she would not be in until after 5pm. I informed the front desk staff about the issues that we had been having, on top of our room vibrating. It felt similar to an earthquake. She stated that it was due to their laundry facilities, which she stated that the vibrations could be felt on our floor. We requested to be moved to a different suite, because I was there for a speaking engagement.
They agreed to move us right before I had to leave out for my event, which was also an inconvenience as far as the timing. On top of my current health condition. The new suite wasn't any better. It didn't have a pleasant smell, plus the internet wasn't working at all!
Once I returned from my speaking engagement, we both agreed to just leave. We had to travel over 2 hours, which we had planned to do the next morning after getting some rest, but we toughed it out and decided to get on the road, though we were tired.
The manager was at the front desk when we checked out and she was polite. I explained to her why we were checking out and she offered to discount our fee, charge us a lower price for the late checkout and I was also told by another staff member that our parking fee would be removed as well. The receipt does not reflect any of this. I am disappointed with our overall experience. I'm also a rewards member.
I will not return to this hotel...
Read moreLocation is super convenient, very walkable to attractions in the area (Short North, German Village, Downtown, Art Museum and COSI).
There is conveniently a McDonald's across the street in case you oversleep breakfast. Speaking of which, breakfast is surprisingly good! They have a waffle station plus toppings, three choices of cereal ranked from healthiest to sugariest, oatmeal, fruit, breads and spreads, mini muffins, milks, yogurts, coffee and tea, and my favourite - individually packed and heatable egg based brekkies (cheesy egg, pepper and sausage bowl, various animal-based sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches) which are easy to heat up in their dedicated ovens.
There is a fitness center with dumbbells, medicine balls, cable weights and elliptical/ recumbent bike/ treadmills and a TV. I would get a workout in and fill up my bottle with that sweet sweet dispenser water.
The rooms are also quite nice, and clearly meant for people doing longer term stays. I loved having a full sized fridge and freezer, kitchen sink and microwave! And dishwasher, cutlery and dishes as well. You also have the option of asking front desk for a hot plate and skillet if you wanted to cook that way. We had a really good deal on the rooms and would definitely stay here again if we're in the city! Oh and of course - there's free wifi available and some computers available for use in the common area, as well as TVs and a children's area.
The staff are super friendly and nice! We did not encounter any strong weed smells or rude staff like some of the other reviewers said they did.
Parking is $15/ day and they do sell snacks and frozen meals by the front desk, I think those are the only additional costs unless you're bringing pets.
They also had a cookout event the night we checked in that we just managed to arrive in time for, which was...
