I will start with the good the place is very nice the outdoor eating areas beautiful and that’s about all the good things I can say my family and I went there for my 60th birthday because my dad used to be a fireman and his fiancée one of the German food I had my grandkids there young didn’t know if they would like German food or not and their mother chose not to get them out of their habit and brought in Taco Bell. I understand this is not normal behavior, but things I didn’t care for the restaurant was there’s no personal waiter or waitress to help with your meal you have to order through your phone OK no problem there was one lady who was very nice they don’t wear name tag so I don’t know her name but I asked another waiter to go get the lady with the tattoo on her arm, which I found absolutely beautiful She was a nice lady on the other hand and the manager who came over to address the issue with the Taco Bell did not understand and did not want to hear why we did what we did let alone I have done this at other restaurants I asked the waiter waitress to bring me whatever she feel is good I have never had an issue with it. I don’t have any food allergies and I will eat absolutely anything but the manager had an issue with it and definitely let me know about it in front of a whole lot of people we had a party of 11 and it become very clear that anything I said or anything I did was not going to be good enough for her, she kept referring to her toddler would eat whatever was put in front of her well that’s not the way it is all the time she repeated herself multiple times after we thought we had the problem taken care of and it become very evident that we were in the wrong place And that this is not a place for a normal family to go to. I am not high society nor do I ever wanna be so we left there after I paid my $50 bill which was just for drinks and a Reuben sandwich because we felt very uncomfortable and went to Longhorn steakhouse Where I sat down and had me a nice steak and I told the waitress just to bring me anything once again and I got absolutely fantastic service to the point that I left her $100 tip. Your manager needs to learn restaurant etiquette. Don’t be rude with customers let alone loud in front of other customers. I hope this review gets looked at by the owner and they have my number and I’m willing to talk but by no means will I ever step foot back in that restaurant and be talk to yelled at or belittled. Have a wonderful day...

I struggled with the rating because I’m split on the bier and grub. The first thing I ordered was the tall Hefeweizen. I sniffed and I sipped, and I sniffed and sipped again. The nose is crisp and bright and spicy and slightly banana-ey. It met my expectations, and I was eager to dive into the sip. It was light and refreshing and gives the slight facade of a hefe, but as soon as I swallowed my gulp, it fell flat. It gave me more of a Pilsner impression with spiciness and flat bitterness with no sweet residue or complexity.

Eh, what can you do?

And since I neglected to mention, I’d like to interject that the guy who took my order and the one who got my beer were delightfully friendly and helpful. The guy at the register suggested the Reuben fries and mentioned that it’s a happy hour item didn’t have to twist my arm after his description. He pointed out that the corned beef and thousand island dressing is made in house, and he had me hooked. I’m game for some original recipe cuisine! After a short wait and a few sips of hefe, my fries hit the table, and I was immediately impressed and anxious to dive in. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside, but the first flavor to impress me was the sautéed onions. As I chewed more, the flavor of the corned beef crept up from among the amalgamation of flavoration and drew me in completely. These fries I love! The more bites I enjoyed, the more the sauerkraut shined through and everything just symphonized across my taste buds. The thousand island dressing and Swiss cheese joined the chorus, and I cared less and less about the calorie count accumulating in my gut.

Honestly, the flavors don’t reach out and slap you in the face with intensity, but together they are a force to be reckoned with. Subtly winning you over with each bite.

Well done, Gemut Biergarten! I can’t wait to return for the full Reuben with the fries on the side! I’ll try a different bier next...

Completely Unprofessional and Hostile Behavior from the Owner, Chelsea

I attended a networking event at Gemüt Biergarten with a group of at least 75 people, all there to support the business, ordering food, drinks, and creating a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience was completely ruined by the aggressive and inappropriate behavior of one of the owners, Chelsea.

When rain forced us inside, we gathered around a table to hold a prize drawing. Without warning, Chelsea approached us, physically shoving people and demanding we move, despite the fact that we weren’t blocking anyone. We apologized and began stepping aside, but she returned even more hostile, raising her voice, continuing to shove us, and rudely asking, “Do you have a problem?” She made sure to tell us she was the owner, as if that excused how she was treating us.

This was a professional networking event, and her behavior was absolutely uncalled for. To make matters worse, several staff members later apologized to us for her actions. It was clear they were uncomfortable too. She wasn’t just rude to us, she was dismissive and harsh with her own staff.

And unfortunately, it didn’t stop there. Chelsea then went outside and was overheard complaining about us loudly to an employee and some friends on the patio. As three of us were leaving, she flipped us off, in full view of others. Several people inside witnessed it and were stunned by how unprofessional and immature she acted.

It’s a bummer because I truly loved this place up until A OWNER acted so wild. The rest of the staff at Gemüt Biergarten were friendly and welcoming, but Chelsea’s behavior left a lasting negative impression. I won’t be returning, and I would not recommend this establishment to others based on how she treats both guests...

My wife and I drive from Barboursville, WV to Columbus every couple of months for a weekend getaway. As independent restaurant and bar owners we always make it a point to only frequent locally owned independent spots. Not only to support them, but we always draw some sort of inspiration or learn a best practice to bring back home. We have our regular round of breweries but this one has eluded us. We were referred by the staff at both Seventh Son and Combustion. We are happy as hell that they recommended it. We walked in on a busy Saturday afternoon and were greeted immediately as we sat at the bar. We had our first beer within a minute of sitting down. We weren’t aware that they had food when we arrived, but the brunch menu looked too good to pass up. The food did not dissapoint, but the beer is the real highlight here. Not an overwhelming selection, but a very deliberate one and they have definitely perfected their craft. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day before heading home to grab some cans to take with us. We decided to go ahead and have brunch again. Again, same great service and food. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners and he was gracious enough to show us the inside of the brewery since we are opening our own in WV. He answered my what I’m sure seemed to him as basic, boring questions and offered a bit of advice. This is definitely a new favorite spot and we will definitely be making it a regular stop. We also left with a bit of inspiration.

I'll update once I try the food. Went there and tried a flight. If you like more traditional beer, but with options for other items like radlers, I recommend. This is a brewery with a parking lot, a front small patio and a larger patio area in the back. It's an old firehouse with interior bench seating, stained glass and large windows. The stained glass windows behind the bar were designed by an unnamed artist, and created by Franklin Art Glass. I ordered from the bar, and there are also takeaway beers available in a cooler. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. I got a flight, dealer's choice. My favorite was the hefe weisbier - it has spice and depth, but was light and bitter. The 12 paladins was alright, but a bit disappointing as the description made it sound more flavorful than it presented to me - a bit bland. The lost shaker was surprising - it's a margarita flavored gose and it definitely rings through. I recommend if you like the sound of that although personally it wasnt my jams. The mugs on the wall are for a mug club they run which has certain perks for an annual fee. I recommend crediting the artist unless the artist requested otherwise (which is sometimes the case). It is absolutely beautiful work. Lastly, I did notice a snarky response from ownership to another review saying they "ain't reading all that", but mind you that our reviews are to inform other potential patrons; if you don't want to read it, no juvenile response needed.
